These people are amazing. They're friendly, professional, fast, and most importantly, they were able to fix my Iphone's white screen of death. My phone randomly decided to die on me while out on a hike and i hadn't been able to turn it back on for the whole night. I'm not from around here..so i kind of panicked. Didn't know where else to take it but i'm really glad i found this place. Called them around 9 in the morning and dropped it off 30 min later. They called me back around 11 to let me know what the problem was and that they were able to fix it. I was able to pick up my phone around noon. Talk about fast and efficient. I've had to replace my screen several times before but this is the place that has fixed it the best. I recently had to deal with my Mac's hard drive crashing. After getting an estimate from a different local computer repair store over the phone I was going to try their business. However, when I arrived at that business the estimate significantly changed. I understand that this can happen when the damage is more severe, but that was not the case with my computer. I told the person at the store the same thing I had told the person on the phone and was getting a completely different estimate. I decided to do a little more research and stopped by Shasta Computer Repair and was very pleased by their professionalism and prices. Not only did they offer me a more reasonable offer on their estimate to evaluate the problems on my computer, but they were able to offer me better warranties as well. With Apple products and living in Redding, CA it is always difficult to find someone you trust to do a good job. Especially when Apple stores are much further away. If anything happens to any of my other Apple products I would not hesitate to return to Shasta Computer Repair. As with most computer repairs, my only slight dissatisfaction was the time it took to repair the computer. Shasta Computer Repair did a better job than most companies I have worked with in the past. My computer updated to Windows 10 this morning and nothing worked. Who ever charges for services NOT rendered? I was recommended to this company by a Verizon employee. I was told they send a lot of business to this company. Before they even looked at my phone, I was quoted $49.00. I was asked to sign several documents and then I was asked to pay before any service was done. I admit "I was not thinking and went ahead and paid the $49 with my bank card ". Luke came out and told me my broken phone screen was not compatible with the iPhone I brought in". Now the charge goes up. I asked my money to be refunded. I had a quote from Batteries & bulbs for $89. I was then told that they do price comparison and I needed to get a quote from that company (in writing). I told them I would rather have batteries & bulbs do the work. So now it will be 7 to 10 days before my money is returned. Plus Luke had to show the elderly man how to do a refund. Lesson learned! Don't pay for services until they have been rendered read more

So yesterday.. My computer got wet. Not soaking but wet nonetheless. ARG. My laptop wouldn't start up! I hate it when that happens. And, unfortunately it's happened before. This time the dudes at Shasta Computer saved the day. Looked them up last night and called first thing in the am. They were able to meet my urgent needs and helped see if my computer could get saved. Score! These guys hooked it up!! They ran their water damage treatment and got it to fire back up!! Damn fast too!!! When I called I spoke to Dustin, and he was super accommodating, and thoughtfully explained all the processes they would and could try. Andrew was the technician who worked on my laptop and he called with the good news to say it had been saved. Total pleasure working with these guys.. I would go back to them in a heart beat. They also beat out my home town computer wizards for speed of repair. I hope I don't have this problem again but if I do I'll be going to Shasta. Andrew and Dustin were a great help to me. My MacBook was having some serious issues with slowness every time I plugged in an external monitor. I was beyond frustrated with it since I use it for work. I talked the the people at Shasta Computer Repair and they had me bring in my laptop the next day. I dropped the laptop off and within a couple of hours, they had it completely fixed and back in my hands. Not only is my laptop working completely great again, but their rates were very reasonable. This place is a total scam shop. Don't be misled, half of their reviews are friends and family. Look for yourself. You will call in and get a sales pitch by a guy named Chad who poses as a technician and answers technical questions. He is not a technician. Their hourly rates are the highest in Redding at over $100 per hour. Friendly Computing in Redding's rates are $60 per hour, with great honest service. They have been around for a long time and have a great reputation. " I have no affiliation with Friendly Computing" Just did the leg work for everyone. Also Shasta will way over charge you 200-300% for parts, and recommend the cheapest brands available, while they open with we use the highest quality parts. ( This is where the lies start) don't take my word for it, take a few minutes to look the prices up yourself! They will not let you supply your own Hard drive, they want you to pay the mark up for theirs.(Red Flag #1) They will say this is because of their warranty, but manufacture warranties on most hard drives are around 5 years anyway. Solid state HD's rarely fail in the first 3-5 years, usually last 7-10 in mac, this is why manufactures supply 5 yr warranty. They will also charge you labor for installing your operating system. Realize this takes 2-3 hours to load but only takes them a few clicks of a mouse and setting it on a desk. (Anyone can do this themselves) here are instructions, its very simple. Command -R (hold down while restarting)(hold all down at same time) Install the latest mac OS that was installed on your Mac, without upgrading to a later version. Option-Command-R (hold down while restarting) Upgrade to the latest mac OS that is compatible with your Mac.** Shift-Option-Command-R (hold down while restarting) Requires mac OS Sierra 10.12.4 or late Install the mac OS that came with your Mac, or the version closest to it that is still available. Their will be an obvious tab to click to re install (name and image of OS) accept privacy policy, click on image of hard drive, and wait a few hours. You tell me if you should pay hundreds of dollars for that. Here are links to solid state HD prices for mac. Google the price and warranty of the parts they use! It will blow your mind how cheap they are. Also consider they buy them in bulk for less than half of list price. If you do go into them because of their reviews, I ask you to just do yourself a favor and compare the prices of their parts to the same parts online. It is an absolute rip off!!! I responded to Shasta Computer and learned the product they order was back ordered. They told me of another source by Amazon. Upon receiving the glass screen protection, I went to Shasta Computer to installed it. I am all thumbs and know my limits. Luke installed my screen protector within 5 minutes. I called for help was told tech was on a break. Two and a half hours later I called back. I reached the tech and he said Oh yeah I received your message. I explained I had got on a site who wanted me to contact their customer service in Tel Aviv, Israel. He said I would have to bring my computer in I explained I am a previous customer and I just wanted to know how to safely exit out of site. I told him that I was told that if I needed to get a new computer to come to them. After spilling vitamin C water on my mac laptop, frying the main board and loosing a five page paper due in two days, I thought I was out of luck. Hours later my father and I decided to hit up plenty of electronic and computer stores that told us I was in fact out of luck, Shasta Computer Repair was our last stop. The guys working their were very eager to here my situation and try everything they could to get my paper off the mac. Around this time my computer had been fried for over 5 hours and they were able to dry the board and take all my information off the mac and put it onto a hard drive. They were the only computer repair shop to even take the computer apart and show us what we were dealing with, water damage wise. One of the guys working there happened to have the same exact mac laptop as mine and generously offered to try and take my hard drive out and put it in his to see if my information would pop up, not knowing if it would fry his own computer. Turns out my information was able to come up, I sent my essay to myself and got the back up hard drive of all my other pictures and videos. The guys worked patiently an hour over their closing time just to get my situation taken care of. I had a similar experience like Sue C. I took my iMac in because the fan was running on high all of the time. I was quoted a price was told it would be ready the first part of the following week, and then after not hearing from them for approx. a week I called to check on it. When I finally got someone to answer the phone they said that they would need to order a part, and it would be ready to go in another couple of days. Another two weeks go by and they say the part still hasn't arrived. I quit calling because I couldn't get anyone to return my calls. When I would drop in at their shop, I was told "Oh I've been sick all week, or we've been so busy" I would see my computer torn apart on the floor, and when I would return to take delivery of it because they would promise that it would be ready, it would be in the same spot on the floor in pieces. After about six weeks I went in to pick up the computer whether it was done or not. It was still on the floor disassembled and Zach was giving me some song and dance and that is when he shorted a hot wire to ground on my machine right in front of me and now the machine won't boot up. He said that he probably fried the power supply, but not to worry, he would order another one and wouldn't charge me for it. At this point I was very concerned that I would ever get my machine back in working order. He finally got the machine running but said that the part that he ordered did not fix the fan issue. I didn't care at this point I wanted to get my computer back before he hastened its demise further. I picked up the computer, paid him what he quoted for fixing the fan which he didn't fix and ran out the door as fast as I could before he could put another voodoo hex on it. read more
