Dr. Kim was warm, friendly, and made the visit feel comfortable, which I really appreciated. Overall, I would give this visit 4-5 stars. The only downside was the interaction at the front desk. The receptionist came across as very cold--no smile, no "thank you," and no "have a good day." I don't expect over-the-top friendliness, but basic courtesy goes a long way. His physical examination entailed of repeating the information I already gave to them, along with double checking to "make sure." When I told him I was not going to pay for the full "wellness check" he slammed the door and gave us attitude. Mind you, my cat was already stressed out. We were in the room for about 7 minutes. His staff had to come in to de-escalate the situation. Very pathetic. I brought my cat to this clinic 2 years ago with all her vaccination, spay, microchip records from the rescue, showing she was fully up to date. Yet the clinic claimed she is missing the FVRCP #1 vaccine. I was hesitant, but eventually agreed to the shot -- only to find out myself afterward that the completed FVRCP record was already in the documents I handed over. I was very concerned, and the vet assured me it's harmless to receive it twice, so I decided to moved on - still it was unnecessary and avoidable. I went back for annual check-up until recently, when I spoke to a rude receptionist over the phone. They responded with attitude and treated my questions as "common sense." I've been regularly taking my cat into this office for the past several years for routine care. Initially, I was very pleased with the care and services the office offers, but I feel like it's gone downhill quite a bit. I'm not sure if there's new management, or if I just happened to come in on a day where the "vibe" was off, but my most recent appointment might be the last straw. I'm seriously considering changing vets. My cat and I got to our scheduled appointment perfectly on time, right at 9am (when the office opens) - but the front door was locked. The receptionist opened the door for a brief moment to let somebody out, and then proceeded to let the door slam in my face, while not even acknowledging that me and my stressed out cat were standing outside waiting to be let in. We were still locked out after this happened, so I asked "Can we come in?" through the door, but was ignored. This receptionist proceeded to be very cold, short and unfriendly with us after checking us in. I have no idea why we were treated with such attitude. After we went into the exam room, the vet assistant (different person from the receptionist) was actually very sweet and kind. She checked my cat's temperature and heart rate, and gave him a treat. But after this, the actual vet (I believe Dr. Vazquez) proceeded to be 30 minutes late to our appointment. It wasn't until about 10-15 minutes of waiting that the vet assistant came back in and said he was "running late". I understand that sometimes things happen, and being slightly late is not the end of the world - but this was for an appointment right at the start of the day. The doctor should've been promptly on time. On top of this, he also barely even examined my cat - didn't thoroughly check out his skin, fur, paws, or anything. Again, I truly don't know if I just happened to go on a very "off" day for this office, but everything that happened above rubbed me the wrong way. His skin had some issues so we took him in. The female korean vet ordered him antibiotics despite knowing his medical history. The dude has apparently worked at (and probably fired from) other clinics such as Larchmont Animal Clinic and VCA Brentwood Animal Hospital. Go look at the reviews at those hospitals and you'll find numerous complaints about him in particular. The other vets here used to be much nicer but this guy was who I was stuck with on this particular day. Oh and if you hand over your pet to the techs for a urinalysis even after telling them your pet has been holding their pee all day for the appointment, don't expect them to listen. Instead of being on the ready to collect a urine sample right away (it's a pet they don't understand they're supposed to hold it. crazy right?), expect the techs to let them take your pet into their holding room, let them pee on the floor instead and then try to draw a sample from an empty bladder. Almost like they weren't prepared to do their one job lmao. Who hired these people lol Update to the business' response: what a sorry excuse for an apology. "I'm sorry you feel that way" is not an apology nor is it taking responsibility for the mistake and disrespect you've shown. "Our team was actively assisting another pet" means they left my pet unsupervised for a period of time even after I told them she has been holding her pee all day for this exact appointment and this exact test. So not only are they careless, they will take your pet for the procedure and leave them unsupervised in an unfamiliar environment. Let's ask the audience: Would you want your pet to be in an unfamiliar, stressful, scary environment alone and unsupervised? Because that's what they'll do with your pet if you take them here. They clearly admitted to not having enough staff to attend to the pets in their care lmao. If their team was actively assisting another pet, why did they take mine away so earnestly when she could have stayed with me until they had enough staff to monitor mine? Seems like they don't know how to manage animals efficiently. And if being understaffed is the problem, it's probably because no one wants to work here. I got the impression all the staff members from the techs to the front office people seem like they hate each other and are counting the minutes til they can clock out. They probably can't keep staff and are just hiring literally any bottom of the barrel candidate who is legally allowed to treat. Is that the type of care you want your pet to be under? Literally hiring the bargain bin techs and vets off the street? Again "doctor" David Ta has bounced around several LA vet clinics the past several years because he can't keep a job. And it's funny that they mention having a responsibility to ensure a "respectful environment" when none was shown to me the entire time. When asking the "doctor" David Ta to clarify the timeline of the test results, he replied with a cold "I already told you the answer to that." Does that sound professional and respectful to you? Is it respectful when the first interaction with the "hospital manager" starts with her approaching you and asking "What's your problem?" Is that professional and showing respect? Is it respectful of the customer's time when I had to book the appointment a week in advance and then take time from work, only to be met with "oops we were negligent with your pet and the test so you'll need to come in another day to give another sample"? That's disrespect. So to say you want to ensure a respectful environment, how about start by showing respect as a business first. Receptionists seem like spoiled suburban kids who only have jobs because their parents forced them to. Just cold and not welcoming at all. No eye contact, no smiles, just transactional and borderline condescending. They're basically human touch screen kiosks you see at McDonalds in terms of social interaction. Except I think people would rather use a touch screen kiosk. You'd think they'd know that a receptionists job is not just to schedule appointments and file paperwork, an AI can do that. A receptionists job is to make customers feel welcomed and encourage them to come back. Clearly they either don't train them that way or these receptionists don't care. The vets themselves are fine for the most part but come across as a bit desperate for money. They give off car mechanic vibes. They will talk you up and try their best to justify why they should do extra things for your pet so that the bill is 50% higher than what you initially anticipated walking in. It's clearly the business strategy it's kind of comical. They didn't lie about my cat or mislead me, but I did get the impression that they were trying to pile on as much onto the bill that they could reasonably get away with, especially with their arbitrarily high prices on their services. I should've checked the Yelp reviews before coming here, and that's on me. I just came for a check up and vaccinations. I wouldn't trust these people for a second for anything more serious, you shouldn't either. Our pets are our family and they deserve the best care, not half assed attempts to grab your money. There's plenty of nice and affordable vets with teams that actually care about animals. Don't come here, they overcharge and don't really care about you. They're incredibly communicative and responsive when it comes to trying to get you to schedule another appointment with them though! So they can continue to siphon your money of course. All vets do this to some extent because every business needs repeat customers to keep the lights on, but this one leans more on the money grabby side. 3.5 on Yelp is sad. I went to this vet for my cats before and they X rayed my cats and still could not figure out that she had a blockage on her GI tract despite paying close to $800 in vet bills here. But when we went to another vet to make sure, they did Xray there they immediately found the reason. Not only did their vets never explain why they couldn't find anything via Xray. The vet didnt bother to come explain it in person. Overall a waste of time and money. They also tried to charge even more money for sending labs to analyze. The reviews are right; they are just money hungry and don't care for your pets! I had brought my kitten in because I was desperate for somewhere nearby with an appointment for next day. Despite the bad reviews, I tried to give it a chance. The vet didn't handle my kitten gently, first of all that was off putting. She prescribed eye drops for a respiratory infection, when his main symptom was labored breathing and only a little bit of eye discharge. I stated my main concern was his breathing, which was strange to prescribe us. Then she said if his breathing didn't improve and his eye discharge didn't clear in two days, call back and ask for an antibiotic. Well of course, the breathing did not get better it got worse and the eye discharge did not improve, so I wasted my money. I called back only for the receptionist to tell me the vet was out of office for the next 6 days?! It was so unprofessional to not leave a prescription or notes beforehand for us just in case. How can she expect a sick kitten having trouble breathing to wait a week?! They called me a week later telling me to get a $400 x ray and the damn $40 antibiotics. I brought in the slightly terrorized stray cat that I've been feeding, a cat who had never been inside a carrier, never mind a veterinary office. The tech was gentle and kind; it turns out she too feeds a stray at home. The vet also was gentle and patient and took her time trying to coax the cat out from under a chair. The rabies vaccine they gave was apparently painless and ultimately we got out of there with a thorough exam and a minimum of trauma. Also, the tech showed me the fees before any work was done, which I appreciated, and the fees were lower than I expected (maybe I'm used to NYC vets). After the vet prescribed three medications, the tech spent time making sure I understood exactly how they were to be used. For dental work under anesthesia, I was referred to another clinic, but as this would have entailed another appointment anyway, it did not matter to me that I have to go elsewhere. I was very happy with the gentleness, care and pricing at Shatto and will definitely return. read more

Once they have your money they ignore you. I had to pry the information from the vet. Once I finally got my dogs results--which took multiple calls and visits after the initial testing-- the ver did not speak to me regarding the results for a week. I noticed the lab results identified a bacterial infection, so I had to call to ask what the next steps were. Finally, after 2 weeks I was able to speak with the vet, who only recommended further testing for my dog because she said certain items in her blood work were slightly elevated. She then realizes my dog's lab work also showed that there was an infection--which could be the reason why these levels were elevated. I had to tell her my dog had an infection for her to realize there was something wrong. Her focus was to instantly upsell additional lab work. Unfortunately it is very hard to find a good vet in ktwon, but I advice you drive a little further out to someone who cares less about the money and more about your dog. In the end I had to pay over $400 for a doctor visit and some antibiotics. read more

One day my little cat was feeling very ill and had been puking all day. Worried and desperate, our family started to search all over the local area for a pet clinic and we stumbled upon Shatto. At first- we couldn't get an appointment but the front staff was organized enough to call us back so props to them. But this is where the problems start. We paid around $450 and waited 4-5 hours to have our pet examined and X-ray. The results? Inconclusive. Nothing. The doctor told us they didn't really see anything in the x rays. That they touched her stomach and saw my cat squirm uncomfortably so she thinks she has an "upset stomach". ??? I'm not a doctor but I think I could have figured that out too. Then they said that there might be something off and she might have to send it to the lab for further testing. Frankly at that point it really felt like they were making a sales pitch at a desperate person. It didn't feel like she cared or knew how to treat my cat. How was it that we did all that and they couldn't come up with anything?? So we went to a differnet clinic. The moment we took the xray the doctor told us that it was very obvious that our cat had swallowed a thread. We told him that Shatto didnt see anything in their xrays and he assumes that they have an inferior equipment. We are just baffled and stunned that they would just tell a desperate family that they have no idea what is going on and then charge them. Even as they gave us the receipt, they didn't really explain the medical charges and the role of the medications. So I had to ask them one by one to explain what exactly they were charging us for. If you were planning to get an X-ray I recommend somewhere else. Hope someone could learn from our mistakes. read more

Everyone here is overbooked and overworked. From the front desk staff to the doctors...good luck trying to get in touch with them. My dog developed a cataract in one eye and I took him in for a visit on 03/15. They did some tests and told me they'd call me with the results and to discuss next steps. On 03/23 I got a voicemail from the vet asking me to call her back so she can go over the lab results. I called back and was told that the vet was out for lunch and that "hopefully she will give you a call soon when she is free". Very broad and vague. They basically told me that I'll hear from her when I hear from her lol I ended up having to call three times to ask that they email me the results so I'm not just sitting here blindly wondering what's going on with my dog. They ended up emailing me and telling me that they already sent me the results but they'll "do it again" as if they were doing me a favor. This is a lie cuz they didn't send me anything before lol When I asked if it was possible to speak with another vet at their clinic who would be able to interpret the lab results for me, they said "we need to ask and see if they're comfortable talking to you because you're not their patient". Ok...? All I want to know is whether the lab results indicated a serious condition or not... a simple yes or no response would've sufficed. It is now 04/01 and I STILL have not heard back from the vet. The staff has also stopped responding to my emails asking for a call back. (Update: they finally responded after I sent another angry email) It's clear that once you pay your balance and walk out the door, they're done with you and your pets no longer matter to their business. So on top of wasting hundreds of dollars at this place, I now have to spend MORE money going to a different vet's office to figure out what's going on. I feel stupid cuz I think I just got robbed? When it was time to get my test back they gave me good news but for some reason decided to test for parasites. So i took him to M.A.S.H in Hollywood and they said he has feline hiv and feline herpes. He never had any issues or problems before this. This is more of a 2.5 rating. I felt a review was necessary if over a year later the bad experience I had with the vet was still bothering me. I brought my senior dogs here during the pandemic. They did car service where they will take my dogs into the facility and have the vet call us to go through their exam with us. My first visit was very positive. The vet was really nice and informative. He was the reason why I went back for current vaccinations and their yearly checkup the second year. Unfortunately, he wasn't at the clinic anymore the second year but I did see Dr Choi and she was really nice on the phone and was also very informative and answered any concerns I had. However, I saw her in person back in 2022 and I just did not feel this was the same person at all. I felt there was an awkward disconnect and I didn't get a sense that Dr Choi cared for my dogs. I was left with a bad taste in mouth and a large bill for just a check up, meds and vaccinations. I have since transitioned to home vet visits for my dogs and have had such a positive experience. Since one of my dogs looks sad and keep distance, we visit Shatto to check. The Doctor said that maybe my dog needs to xray to check for any inflammation. I asked the doctor if I really needed it since the cost was high for an X-ray. But I accepted her suggestion and said that the result will be out 2-3 days less than the same day cost result. I am writing a review since after 12 days , I never received an email or call from them. I tried to call them today and they asked me to hold for 20 mins , no one helped me with this issue. I made an appointment at 5pm, the last appointment of the day, but when I arrived the receptionist insisted my appointment was for a different time and would not see me. I got no phone call, email, or text to confirm my appointment or when I had 'missed' the one he had put down for earlier in the day. At first he was "100% sure" he did not schedule me at 5pm but after I explained our conversation, he seemed confused and said he "must have missed it, there are so many pets." It really sucks that the people here (except like one assistant named Allison? I don't recall her name) really do not care. If you don't have the empathy, the will to build trust, the effort to really understand and follow up what's going on with the pets, you should not work at a vet. Parents of these pets come with not sky-high expectations, but my goodness at least you have to act like you care! The front staff are not motivated. While I understand that the phone does not stop ringing, at least greet the people. If you see someone walk in and just stand there waiting, or sit down waiting, say hello, ask their name, whether they have an appointment. All I ever see is the front staff looking tired, lacking any care, and not even realizing (or perhaps ignoring) that people are here on time for their appointment. Hearing the phone ringing multiple times, it sure looks understaffed, but that does not mean the front staff should act unprofessional. The parents of pets come here with 100% faith in not only the doctors, but the entire staff. The doctors (I met two, both females), are borderline rude. Not that they did anything offensive, but they both seem so rushed, and not taking the time to answer questions in a professional way. I have no knowledge on the anatomy or biology of my pet, so I can ask questions like "what do you mean the growth plate is open?" But the doctor speaks in almost a demeaning way when explaining. I had my cat neutered here, spending over $500 when they called and said my cat's blood test results may indicate FELV, and that they had to run tests. When I asked for any type of explanation regarding the blood test result or any type of follow up, they said "yeah we'll have the doctor call you to go over the blood results". I expected them to call perhaps within a week since I know they are busy, but it's been over an entire month. Nothing. I didn't request a microchip, yet they charged me for the fee, and only after I actually read through the invoice and pointed it out, they say it was an error, sorry. They refunded me the price, but at least check the price and treatment actually given before asking for the card and swiping? This is another time I felt that everything here is very unorganized and unprofessional. At a medical office that takes care of my pet's health, I have the same expectations as a hospital that treats humans. Not to mention, I paid extra for "post-laser therapy" that was supposed to help with the healing, but when my baby came back home and I took him out of his carrier, I noticed his private area was bleeding. I called, emailed, multiple times over multiple days, but nope. Nothing. I don't want to just post a bad review, but I wish to send the message across to the workers working here that they all need to do a better job. The treatment, the care, the committment, the communication, the interactions. Everything. I'm not a crazy cat lady Karen, I am simply, genuinely sad from the lack of care provided. A lot of the communication is done through text and email now and most of the time my boyfriend takes our pupper to the vet so I haven't had any sour encounter with the front desk since the last time. One thing I have to mention though: We rescued a new baby and he was having problems getting used to the new environment. Stomach and behavior mainly. I was impressed with the follow up the Doctors did on our baby. They called even after we did a stool exam and got the results back. Asked us if he was feeling any better and gave us tips on how to give new treats and try to steer away from giving too much variety at once. This is of course just my opinion but I think the doctors are caring here but.. I don't know sometimes they are in a poop mood? (Trying to filter.. my comments here) We have our fur baby for a teeth cleaning appointment today, will update with how it all went down. read more

It's almost impossible to get a walk in on the east side. I called my regular vet and 3 others in my area and nobody could take us. Understandable for a Friday afternoon. I called Shatto and even though I had never been there, they said if I could get there in the next 15 they could help me out. They took us in immediately and were so calm and normal. It was such a rare experience. We had Dr Avra and he was so kind and knowledgeable, 0 upselling. Feel very lucky we found them today. read more
