Recently moved back home to the Bay Area after living in NYC and Los Angeles. Was looking for a nice family run dry cleaner; my experience is that with smaller businesses that actually have the dry cleaning services on site, they always do a good job. After moving to Oakland, I was on the hunt for a local dry cleaner with good reviews and fast service. While this place doesn't currently have a ton of reviews, I thought I would give it a try, and the 10% discount for new customers certainly didn't hurt! It is located in North Oakland, basically in striking distance from Berkeley and probably a 10-15 minute walk from the Ashby BART station. I've taken various clothing items including a suit, ties, and pants, and so far I've been very happy with their work! They even offered to apply the 10% discount later on when I forgot to show it after my first visit. I haven't tried their same day service, but my friend who stayed with us raved about their fast turnaround. The owners and staff have been uniformly friendly, and I will definitely visit them in the future! read more

MY HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AT SHATTUCK CLEANERS. I am a 78 year old, well dressed, well- groomed, highly educated, intelligent and well-spoken blinded veteran of the Viet Nam war. I was, but no longer, a new and now departing customer at Shattuck Cleaners. On each of mine and my driver's several visits to Shattuck cleaners we experienced rude and unfriendly and unwelcoming customer service from the store attendant. On our first visit, she rudely directed us to step back from the counter in a chastising sharp tone. Where is the plexi glass? She never once greeted us or said thanks. On what will be our final visit, we walked into the cleaners and waited and no one came to the counter. We rang the bell and then ask if anyone was hone. Finally the attendant came to the counter coldly handed me clothes and we left. When I arrived home with what was my last pick up from Shattuck Cleaners I discovered that even after my pointing out at drop off that the dress pants was to be dry cleaned, my pants were erroneously heavily starched. I called the cleaners the next day and the attendant rudely stated she was with a customer and hung up. It seems our mere presence of me and my driver; both Black, bothered the attendant. This should not happen Oakland or anywhere else in America. I fought the war so that would not happen in America. I am done with Shattuck Cleaners. Oakland keep an eye on Shattuck Cleaners to ensure they are inclusive in their service. On my last and final pick up, attended seemed irritated when I asked if my clothes were heavily starched as promised. I cannot account for his behavior on the part of the attendant as I am well educated, intelligent well- groomed and well spoken. If Shattuck Cleaners treated all of its customers as poorly as me and my driver; both of us Black, they would not be in business. We feel we were singled out for rude and condescending treatment by the attendant at Shattuck Cleaners. It seems our mere presence bothered her. This should not happen in Oakland and for that part anywhere in America in 2022. I fought the war so this would not happen. I haven't had my clothing cleaned here but I just want to give a big shout out to this business because when I was looking for a parking space for the restaurant next door the owner made a point of coming outside and ushering me into one of their separate parking spaces because I had my elderly parents in the car. Anyone who pays that much attention to what's going on around them and is that thoughtful, has to be a good responsible dry cleaner. read more

The worst cleaners ever, I took around 20 shirts for dry cleaning and when I got them back, the white ones were yellow and the blue ones turned green and the the wrinkles everywhere. I confronted the owner and he gave me a hard time. I've to so many cleaners in the Bay Area, but this one stands out as the worst. Stay away!!!! read more

Friendly and affordable. We had a mold issue that attacked our nice clothes and they got everything cleaned at a reasonable rate.

They know how to get the job done. My first visit I took in 5 dress shirts, 2 sweater vests, and a pair of dress pants in the morning, and was able to pick them up in the afternoon the same day. The prices for dry cleaning are reasonable - one of few in berkeley. I'll definitely bring my clothes here again! Love the owners they're are so adorable. read more

These guys are close to my house and I was supporting them as a local business for over a decade years. I also appreciated that they use eco-friendly chemicals. The management changed a couple of years ago (same family, different people) and we noticed several times that the clothes weren't fresh smelling when we picked them up. Also, the women working there never seem to appreciate our long time service and continue to penny pinch. For instance, for a blazer and slacks...one of the friendly men working there told my partner, "I'll mark you down for a *suit* since it's cheaper than charging by each item" (great idea, we thought!). However, now when we come in with a blazer and pants and call it a "suit" with the women there, they tell me that's it's not technically a suit and they charge me as separates. They're going to wash them all in the same load anyway, so it doesn't really matter to them if the pattern is a bit different. They just want to get as much money as they can from people. I've tried two nearby dry cleaners on Shattuck Ave. and this business is superior by far in terms of price, quality, and service. The prices are very reasonable (cheaper than Sunny Cleaners on Woolsey), especially considering the same-day service. They managed to get every last street meat grease stain out of my white jeans, and my blazers and blouses always come back fresh and pressed. Like others have mentioned, the owners are lovely and provide great customer service and attention to detail. I have finally found my local dry cleaners! I never write reviews here, but I need to vouch for this place. They do an EXCELLENT job. All you have to do is ask, and they will have your clothes ready for the next day. While this is by no means the closest cleaner to our house, it is our preferred cleaner. Today they earned not only this review but my absolute loyalty. My boyfriend and I were VERY BUSY all day today, and completely forgot about needing to pick up his clothes for a funeral on Monday morning. I thought of the errand at 5 minutes after 6, and called immediately, hoping that they were open until 6:30. I caught them as they were locking up. I asked if they were open on Sunday (they are not). I asked what time they open on Monday (too late). He heard the panic in my voice, and said he would stay 15 minutes. My boyfriend rushed out the door to pick up the clothes. He received friendly service, despite the fact that we had lengthened their day, and when he tried to tip, it was not accepted. These people are SO KIND. We wont put them through that again, and hope that you don't do it either - but, if you want a kind cleaner who treats you like a customer AND a person AND does a spectacular job - this is the place for you. THANK YOU so much for saving us! We know it was our fault, and the fact that you were generous with your time and kind about it means that much more because of it. You don't know how grateful we are to be able to head to a sad event on Monday with a little less stress. read more

Was googling and running all over Oakland looking for a place to do same day service, I was well over the time limit for the service but they still took me in and allowed me to add in a coat to wash too that I didn't think i would be able to get for a few days.
