Called Shaw Plumbing to replace our garbage disposal. Had to have them return because they forgot to connect it to our dishwasher properly and it backed up. My wife works for a national hardware store. In casual conversation with a local plumber, she mentioned that the job cost more than $1000.00. He told her we were ripped off at that price. Not reliable. Home has a 2020 tankless system that continues to fail. Shaw has visited 4 times in the past 18 months to service and no solution has resolved the problems. Had appointment today for 1-3pm window. Shaw called and shared technician was "elbows deep" in another job and won't make it today- at 1:15pm. I explained our family has no hot water for the 2nd consecutive day and we needed emergency service. Got nothing but run around and excuses. Look elsewhere for a group that keeps its word, shows up when they're supposed to, and goes the little extra for a family in need. So disappointed. read more

He was able to do the work, needing to go through a bedroom wall for access. We then needed to schedule to have the wall repaired. I needed multiple repairs such as replacing cartridges in 2 shower faucets, installing a new bathroom faucet, replacing a ball valve on my irrigation supply line, replacing a back flow valve on my irrigation system, and replacing a leaky frost free outside faucet. Shaw Plumbing was easy to call and schedule a technician to come out in a reasonable time frame. All repairs were done quickly and on time. Cost of the repairs were moderate, but service was friendly and many repairs were done in one visit if at all possible pending needing special parts. I had a faucet issue in my bathtub. Being a first-time homeowner and never having had a plumbing issue before this, I had called multiple local services and scheduled a couple visits for them to give me quotes; the verdict was anything between $600-$1300 to fix the job, and the earliest I could expect the fix to occur was at least a full week away from the inspections. I didn't like that. But that wasn't the case with Shaw. They sent a repairman (Ryan/Rian) out to inspect my problem, and he took one look at it and confidently outlined my options of how to get it fixed, day of. He proceeded to repair the faucet, and even explained to me what he was doing in real time (as I am by no means a handyman) so I could learn myself. All in all, Shaw got the project done in a single day, all for a fraction of the price that competitors had quoted me. I have already recommended Shaw to some of my peers, and will be sure to use them again in the future! read more

Got a quote today to move some supply lines and drains in my basement for a remodel. Nothing big- no breaking into the concrete floor for the drains. Just putting a T into the existing sewer drain and re-routing the water pipes with pex. An 8 hour job, as they and other plumbers have told me. I get a quote today that they can do the job for just shy of $4000. That's hilarious. Or it would be, if they didn't feel so brazen as to give me such a ridiculous quote. Their price breakdown: $350 for a permit An assumed $400 for taxes. So that leaves a balance of like $3200 for labor. Divided into an 8-hour day, that's $400/hour. It would not require more than one person to do this job, so that would be $400/hour/person. I'm sure they're gouging other people out there often enough that they feel this is standard practice. I won't bother ever calling them again. Shop around, people. read more

Does anyone else find plumbing intimidating? I feel like I was absent the day they taught it in Man School. OK, fine - I must have been out sick for the entire Home Improvement semester. But that's not what this review is about. When my basement flooded, a mitigation company came out and removed everything, including a significant amount of plaster. When the walls were down to the studs, it because apparent that I had a leaky main water valve, leaking condensate line from my furnace, and a whole lot of crappy, brittle CPVC pipe that was probably state of the art in the 1960s or so. Hank Shaw came out to my house, looked everything over, and sent me an estimate to fix all of those items, plus to prepare my laundry room for an extra w/d unit and install an outdoor faucet (per my request). I elected to have everything done, because this house is old and I am updating it as best I can. The total was reasonable, considering how many items there were, and they showed up on time and kept me informed at every step. This was just four weeks after my water heater died and they put in a new one for me. Hank, Tim, George, and Colton did great work at the house, and in the office, Amber is very pleasant and professional. I strongly recommend Shaw for all of your plumbing needs. read more

I had Shaw Plumbing add water service for a new laundry closet. Everything about the service was top notch. After installing the washer box, Tracy noticed some corrosion on a copper pipe leading to the laundry area. He was kind enough to replace this section of pipe at no additional charge. We asked Shaw to replace an exterior faucet and to replace a cartridge that was causing a leak in our upstairs bathtub. The plumber they sent, Meki, did an excellent job and completed all work in about 40 minutes. The cost they charged us, $850.00, was simply outrageous for the brief labor needed and the simple products needing to be replaced. Called about 10am on a Thursday. Spoke to a lady and asked about getting a plumber to install a new kitchen faucet and look at a leak in my pedestal sink. She checked her computer and said she could have Clay out between noon and 2pm. I agreed. Clay called about 30 minutes later and came right away. He installed the faucet and gave me some suggestions and estimate on fixing or replacing the old sink. Excellent service. Great suggestions and very knowledgeable. I used Shaw before for a plumbing job and when an unknown upstairs tub leak came through the ceiling below, I called Shaw again. I was advised they could not get to me for another five days. Since I used them satisfactorily before, I accepted to wait for them. Mistake! When they did arrive the tech informed me they could not do the job for another 10 days. They were too busy with smaller jobs since this one would take two hours! I talked to the office and was told, in so many words, that's the way it is! I contacted another plumbing service and they came out the following morning, found the leak source and did the necessary repair. One entire week wasted! That I could accept if the job was done by Shaw when they first came out, but the further delay and attitude by the office staff's indifference and lounge chair approach to the problem at hand was and is unacceptable. read more

I utilized this company recently and came to this site to share what a great experience I had when I came across the two one-star reviews. Curious, I read through them and get the feeling they have the wrong business. How two individuals on opposite ends of the United States (New York and San Francisco) can give a review on a local Spokane business is pretty strange. At any rate, Shaw Plumbing and their super-competent and professional employee, Tim, were wonderful to me. I had a plumbing emergency on a Friday afternoon involving the main house shut-off valve. Even having the City of Spo. come to my home and crank it off at the street would not stanch the flow of leaks coming from multiple inside valves. So I had no water to the house and I was calling plumbers, one after another, feeling more desperate by the minute. One of the companies I called who couldn't help gave the name of Shaw Plumbing as a reputable referral and I can now totally attest to that. Once I called, everything was great - from the wonderful receptionist taking my call and working to squeeze me in, coordinating with their incomparable employee Tim, who made me the last stop of the day. Tim turned an incredibly stressful situation into a well-executed, calm conclusion. He was friendly, professional, and obviously knew exactly what he was doing. Additionally I felt their fee was totally fair. Overall a great company - highly recommended! read more

They certainly are not the least expensive plumbers around, but they have TOP notch service and were able to do a rush job on a main plumbing line emergency, for which I am grateful. If they were a bit more affordable, they would get 6 stars but $3,000 for 6 hours work feels like a lot. read more

I just had a water heater installed by Shaw Plumbing, and others should be aware of their price gouging and exaggerated charges. The price for the installation was well beyond industry standard which was then padded with additional fees/expenses that one would expect to be included in the normal course of replacement. In addition to the already shamelessly inflated price for the water heater replacement, I was charged an additional $118 for a $7 shutoff valve, as if this was some kind of laborious addition to the already exaggerated charges. The shutoff valve fits in the same supply they had already charged me for, which is blatant price gouging. Then, I was charged an additional $418 to remove (unscrew) a very accessible 12-inch piece of supply pipe and replace it with Pex pipe (2 fittings and 12" of pipe = less than $10 and 15 minutes). Again, one would assume that this would be included in the ordinary installation quote, or at the very least to be charged actual time and materials. Overall, I was charged more than double the cost of a reasonable water heater installation. This is a rental property, which houses a family with two small children. I was not able to be on site for the repair but trusted that I would be treated fairly when approving the work. Instead, they took advantage of the situation and padded the repair with exaggerated, commissioned fees and charges. This was a very simple, easy, and straightforward replacement. I did not expect them to be the least expensive contractor, but I always expect honesty and to be treated fairly. It took seven unreturned calls and messages to reach Clay, the General Manager, who agreed to discount the invoice, but then later declined to honor his offer - bad business, and a complaint has been filed with Better Business Bureau. I was charged over $3100 for this replacement. I am concerned that Shaw Plumbing is a dishonest, predatorial contractor and would be very cautious when choosing this company. I suggest everyone know what the actual costs are and beware of dishonest, unethical price gouging. read more

The sink and the water heater both work perfect. The job was done in about four hours, the area cleaned up and cost exactly what was quoted. This company does honest work. Here is what happened at our house: I called Shaw Plumbing to fix a burst pipe due to winter freezing. Their guy had repaired this same pipe for the same reason winter before last. But he did not do that in such manner as to prevent a recurrence. So we had a recurrence. As their guy was toting up what repair would cost, tapping it into his hand-held, my adult son arrived and heard what was being proposed. My son is an advanced do-it-yourself-er, can do a lot of stuff, but professionally is a high school math teacher. He heard "a thousand dollars" to repair the pipe so it would not freeze again. He lost it. "You are gonna charge my eighty year-old dad a thousand dollars to fix a leaked pipe, when you already were here 2 years ago, same pipe. When I can fix that pipe myself, today, for fifty dollars in materials and an hour of my time?!! Get out!!" Their guy left. My son then made good on that, returning an hour later with stuff from Home Depot - more than $50 but less than $100. He fixed it properly in about an hour with minor help from me. An interior shut-off valve on that pipe and a petcock valve to then drain any residual standing water for the winter. Problem solved permanently. I am not writing this to dunk on Shaw Plumbing, just saying what happened in my case. You might want to watch your wallet. Their bid was three times what an honest, modern, up-to-code fix should have cost. read more

They do not stand by their work. They refused to admit that they neglected to make sure there was no air in the plumbing lines when they drained the water to do the repairs needed. This caused one of our lines to be compromised and the air left in the line caused problems of water leaking and damage to my home. They tried to blame someone else when it was clearly on neglect on their part. read more

They called me back and saw me the very next day! George was friendly and extremely professional. He took time to clearly explain my options. My husband and I just bought a house and had quite a few unexpected plumbing needs. We got an estimate from another plumbing company and decided to get a second opinion with Shaw Plumbing as recommended by a friend. In the end there was such good and thorough communication (Amber was wonderful!) about the bid and scheduling, we used Shaw Plumbing. Our technician, Sam, was amazing to work with. He was patient in explaining things to us, worked efficiently, and communicated when needed. He was on time and we even got a text alert letting us know he was on his way. I was amazed at how clean and tidy the work was and he cleaned up after any messes created during the work.
