Called on a promotional drain clearing offer. The sink would barely empty when I tested it after he left. He definitely made it worse. It would at least drain albeit slowly and was semi-useable before he came. In addition he had an attitude after being asked about shoe covers. I called GS to ask if they would return to rectify the problem without charge. They said no. I asked the service manager to call me. He did not. This is a second rate outfit. read more

Charged what amounted to $26 a minute! They found a tiny gas leak in the hose fitting while doing a water heater flush. The water heater hose kit is at most $40 retail. They charged me $300 for 10 minutes worth of work in addition to the flush. I could not option out of the work to get it done more reasonably as I was threatened with a "red tag." read more

Last Friday night we found we had a stream of hot water coming from our kitchen sink faucet. This was about 7 pm. We looked around for 24 hour service for plumbing in the area and decided to contact Gold Seal. We had used them in the past when the service fee to arrive on site was $189. We had found a different plumber since then but they were not 24hr. The fee to arrive is now $220. When the plumber arrived an hour later, he entered the house carrying only a tablet. This should have been a red flag. He looked at the drip and went to his truck to see if he could find the right cartridge. He said he didn't have it and proceeded to tell us he would have to tear the faucet apart, clean it and then (using what part????) put it back together and HOPE it worked. No Guarantees!!! The price he quoted for this was $700! He insisted on his course of action. We asked this plumber several times to replace the washer. It fell on deaf ears. I called Gold Seal on a recommendation from my neighbor. They were very easy to contact and had great customer service. I think they are the largest plumbing company in Eastern Washington. They sent two plumbers who were very professional, but the price seemed high to fix a small leak. I assume they charge more partly because they send out teams of two. I also appreciate that they do free estimates. They are a good service to call in an emergency, but you can probably get better value with other businesses. read more

Update... I spoke with the owner 2 weeks ago after my managers tried getting ahold of them countless times with no response. I told the owner I left a lengthy review about the incompetency of his employees and how we shouldn't have been charged for them doing Absolutely nothing, the owner said he would refund the money we paid for work not done but he wanted me to change my review and say that we spoke and that they were fixing the problem by returning what we paid. We have used this company in a previous home and are using them again with our current home. We had a whole house water metering valve installed and new frost proof spigot's to help ensure we never have any flooding issues from freezing weather. my friend had a sink replaced due to leaking from rusty pipes. They did a great job on replacing the sink and install on the pipes underneath. On first visit all looked great. When I looked underneath I noticed the rusty fitting was left in place next to wall. They need to consider how they do things on the weekend for urgent/emergent things. My water heater went out recently due to power issues and I eventually got an estimate and replacement with Sturm Heating and Cooling who I HIGHLY recommend. Gold Seal tech KNEW he wouldn't be able to do anything for me on a weekend and still came out to my house and charged me $250 for weekend evaluation and then additionally $110 for diagnostic. I had called Sturm after I was unsatisfied with Gold Seal and the tech in the phone immediately told me he wouldn't be able to fix anything on a Sunday due to likely needing to communicate with tech support for my heater brand and that he could come Monday/Tuesday and coming for a weekend rate would just be wasting my time and money. Gold Seal has no issues with taking my money and knowingly wasting my time and resources. Avoid!!!! read more

Had a service call for a simple faucet replacement! No other work was done. They provided/ sold me a basic Kohler faucet. Was told the faucet incl. installation was $790. Entire time was one hour. The faucet at Lowe's retailed for $230. ( Which I was unaware of until after service call) Which means they charged me $560.00 for a one hour faucet replacement. When I called to speak with a manager, I was told he would call me right back. That never happened! Lesson learned, do not buy their faucets, go get your own! Very disappointed! read more

Wow! Called Gold Seal to repair a running toilet water problem/a flush pump replacement and an on/off valve replacement. Work time one hour. After Senior discount, estimate was $917 plus tax. Who pays these absurd prices!?! Last week Gold Seal charged us $952 for about an hour's work in replacing the media in the ion exchange water system GS had installed in early 2020. We didn't have much bargaining room as no plumbers we called could service this kind of system. The final bill did not break down labor and materials, and the service manager later informed us their policy is to charge a flat rate for any particular job, regardless of length of work or cost of the materials. The internet cost for the media averaged around $400, leaving the rest for labor for two working for about an hour! read more

Unethical. The first visit they couldn't fix the problem with the water heater and needed to return another day. $30 for the visit. Ok. We had the estimate for the repair and the check was written for $714 as they had required for their return visit. During the 2nd visit, they stated that it was not an issue with the water heater, but rather a gas regulator issue, and to call Avista. They spent 45 minutes on site and wanted the entire $714 and didn't fix anything. They asked for the full amount because it had already been written. No! Ended up paying over $500 for nothing. Wow! This company has no accountability and charges premium prices. They were called to fix a frozen water inlet to my toilet. $1100 later the original problem was solved but another created when they broke the shut off valve. I made an appointment the next day to get it fixed and was told it would be two days before they could come. The day of my appointment no one ever showed up. I called twice on the day to make sure I was on the schedule for the morning as stated. The following day I called again to see if I was on the schedule and was told that they never had an appointment scheduled at all, and it would be a week before they can come Adding insult to injury I was told I would be charged for the repair. tl;dr - Their plumbers are very nice, respectful, thorough, punctual and quality journeymen. Might be a smidge pricer than others in Spokane, but I can sleep at night knowing it's done right. In the last year I've used Gold Seal for three issues ... - My house: New gas water heater and replaced failing interior main gate valve with ball valve - Parents: Replace broken gate valve with ball valve inside interior wall - Grandparents: Interior main gate valve failed but looked scary to replace (right near foundation) so added ball valve inline next to it. SERVICE All 3 separate visits were completed in, what I thought, a fast timeframe. Fast meaning they knew their stuff and did it right the first time. The finished product looked professionally done and they cleaned everything up very well. All the necessary parts were with them, so no delays either. Gate-to-ball valve replacements took about 1.5 hours. In one instance that also included cutting out a few feet of old pipe and replacing with new. In another instance, a 10"x 5" piece of drywall needed to be cut for access inside the wall. Plumber did a great job cutting the piece out, vacuuming up and putting it back (though it's up to you to patch/paint the drywall where they cut). PLUMBERS All 3 plumbers I've worked with have been clean, friendly, real nice people who explained things to me in a way I understood. idk if this matters to anyone but as they walked through the house/garage, they didn't look all around checking things out. When they went in/out of my house they closed the door each time and were aware of my (extremely inquisitive) pets. They used iPads to sign stuff and a Square device (ApplePay worked) to take cards. I believe they take checks as well. Again idk if this matters to anyone, but 2 of the 3 plumbers and I got into convos about their trade, the tests and certs they need, work ethic, the years they've put in, etc. They seemed like they were proud of their careers and craft. That made me feel more confident in the job. FRONT DESK & COMMUNICATION I made all of my appointments via a phone call. Front desk folks have always answered quickly and were very friendly. They gave me a choice of a 4 hour timeframe: 8-noon or noon-4. Each time, I received a 30min notice before the plumber arrived, which they were punctual. Of the 3 times I've used them, 2 times they arrived at the very beginning of the 4 hour timeframe and 1 time they were about an hour-ish into the 4 hour timeframe. I don't WANT to but if I have to, I'll use Gold Seal. read more

I had standing water in my basement under my hot water tank. I called Gold Seal based on the large name and presence in Spokane, they must be good right?? The tech they sent out was a very nice guy, no qualms with him, he was doing what his company pays him to do. He ended up installing a pressure regulator valve and a shut off valve thinking that my irrigation district had a spike in pressure and caused my pressure overflow valve to spew. $800 dollars later.... I still have water. It ended up being a plugged floor drain, nothing to do with my tank. Action Drain came out, he was there for 22 minutes flat and charged me $95. My issue with GS was the price they charged. My neighbor had the EXACT thing installed by a different plumbing company 3 week earlier and was charged $189. WTH????? I went in to GS to discuss the charge of $800, twice before getting anywhere, they gave me $200 back. Still $400 more than my neighbor. I will NEVER refer Golden Seal to anyone. They are dishonest and take advantage of home owners. read more

Spent $3500 on a water heater and water heater install, have been having problems ever since. After the company left the first time, I went to bed as I work night shift. When I got up went to shower, no water pressure throughout the entire house. I called to have them come out to fix it, but it was after normal business hours so they were going to charge $225 for an emergency fee. Although I felt this was an inappropriate charge because it was their mistake, we waited an entire day for a fix to avoid further costs. We had another appointment yesterday because the company said that in order to stay within warranty with the water heater purchase, we needed a new pressure valve installed. I received a confirmation email the day before that they'd be here between 8am-12noon, no one ever showed. When we called to find out why, they said the appointment had been cancelled the day we had the water pressure fixed but there was nothing ever installed during that visit. The office staff couldn't tell me what was going on and were rude to boot. Now my spouse and I are trying to figure yet out another day where one of us can clear our work schedules to be here for them. If you can find what you're looking for somewhere else, please do it. I feel locked in to a disorganized and unprofessional company now because of a warranty. read more

I called Gold Seal plumbing for two issues. The first was a rebuild kit for my shut off valve. The second was for a backed up toilet. They gave me a window of between noon and 5 PM for arrival. They arrived at 5:25 PM. I had told the office that I could send a photo of the valve kit that needed to be rebuilt and they said they didn't need that because they had the fully stock truck. When they got here he told me that he would have to order the parts for the shut off valve because he didn't have them we would be 3 to 6 weeks out and he didn't bring his camera for looking through the plumbing to detect obstructions either in the trap or down the line. However he did find another issue underneath the house that cost me over $500. So in the long run the two issues are still not solved and I got $500 lighter for an unknown problem read more

Our sump pump failed late at night and flooded the laundry room, among other things. Gold seal was able to get someone to us in an hour and a half. Clog fixed and deodorizer provided. The gentleman was kind, knowledgeable and wore a mask to keep us all safe and healthy. I'm not sure if the price was comparable, but worth it to take care of an urgent situation. read more

We have had a toilet that has given us trouble for 2 years. A couple weeks ago we called and set up an apt for May 20th. We had explained the issue and told them over the phone we would prefer to just have a new toilet installed. Two techs came over, I explained again I would just prefer a new toilet, they gave it a "love tap", declared it as good. Two days later it stopped working again. We called again and were told it would be at least June 7th before they can come out again. I just want to be able to flush. read more

The was a horrible experience. The men could not adequately explain the difference between the options. We were told they would use the high pressure machine if we paid more, but they only used it on the main pipe. All the other pipes used the smaller/cheaper machine. Had this been explained properly, we would have paid the $1100 option...we feel that we were taken advantage of. They arrived 90 minutes outside of the 8-12 window so my husband wasted the entire day waiting for them. He was actually rushing out the door at the end of their service to make a 6pm meeting. At no point did anyone at the company apologize for the inconvenience or even report to the feedback I left them. There was an overall lack of professionalism. - Did not use booties and drug dirt a over the house. - Left trash in basement (paper towel they had used for the service) - removed a storm window and screen and could not put it back in properly - spilled water on the kitchen floor and grabbed our paper towel to clean it up (would have been fine if they'd bothered to ask) - We had another inspection scheduled with the city of a Spokane. The guys were at the door when she arrives and they sent the inspector away before she could ring the doorbell!! Luckily my husband heard them say "she's not here" so he could run out and catch the inspector before she left. - Management needs to explain to these employees that they are guests in the house they are working in and should act appropriately. Complete ripoff. Charged me $300 to scope my mainline because he insisted that was the problem. Told me I needed a spot repair and gave me an estimate of $5000 to repair a "dark spot". A different plumber came, said the problem was not the mainline but grease in my kitchen pipes and rocks in the trap from my backyard drain. Charged me $100 and solved the problem. Gold Seal is a great company if you want to pay $5300 and still have a clogged drain. read more
