A friend introduced me to this place a few weeks ago, and I've been hooked ever since. Although it's a fast casual restaurant, it definitely should not be overlooked. They serve up some delicious food and at a more than reasonable price point. I ordered a chicken thigh over rice with a side of tres leches cake. The chicken thigh was tender and juicy and it had a nice smoky aroma from the char of the grill. I even enjoyed the rice as it was soft and had a nice flavor of its own. Each dish came with a side salad as well, which was a nice pairing with the meal. The dessert was good also tasty as the cake was moist, but did not fall apart. I would've preferred the sweet glaze on top to be a little less thick as it was quite hard to spread. My friend ordered a burger which was tasty as well. We both ordered the large size for our dishes and the portion size was huge. They each came with two large pieces of chicken thigh over a generous portion of rice and salad. They have plenty of seating inside as well as a bathroom, which is nice.

Great Shwarma and Falafel in Astoria ! The chicken thighs are so tender and the falafel are light, crispy and perfectly seasoned. They catered a big office lunch and the food was hot and delicious. Homemade hummus and babaganoush are delicious! They're right downstairs from the Ditmars Blvd train station .

This is a solid recommendation in the Astoria area. Great, shwama! My girlfriend loves this place. I've only been here a couple of times, and she could live off all their halal dishes, and it is a must for her in my neighborhood. When we visited earlier this year, we ordered some of their lamb and chicken pita sandwiches . This halal establishment has been around for decades and is very popular. It was one of the first halal fast-food restaurants to open in Ditmars. Overall, it is an excellent recommendation.

I usually get my falafel from King Of Falafel at the corner of Ditmars and 31st, but I decided to try out Shawarmania, which is very conveniently located right outside of the Astoria-Ditmars Blvd (N) station. They take Apple Pay and are quick to prepare your food. I ordered a falafel pita ($8) which came with pickled turnips, pickles, and tons of salad. The falafel was a little crumbly but it was very moist and well flavored. The store space is narrow but has plenty of seating should you decide to dine-in. However, I did notice a majority of people ordered takeout.

Wow this place really hit the spot for me tonight. I was starving and my train kept getting delayed and this was the first place I was off the N train at the last stop. Such a good deal for a large amount of food. $13 and I got a ton of beef and salad. Yum! The white sauce is also so tasty. I'm happy with this choice. I'm glad they're open late. Thank you!

The food here was amazing I did a catering order for a family event and this restaurant more than delivered. The food was amazing and the service was incredible I can't recommend it enough!!!!

Im so confused. I ordered shwarma from a place called shwarmamania. They served me stewed beef over rice for $13. Came with watered down mayo instead of even tzatziki. Also pickles that were unchewable and other random pickled items. Ruined my night. Also this is dirtier than OJ Simpson crime scene.

Delicious! You must go here, so happy I discovered this gem of a shawarma place in Astoria! Will be returning! There is a lot of competition in this area for shawarma, but have to say this one is a great takeout option if you are looking for something very reasonably priced, flavorful, and filling! Food: I ordered the chicken shwarma pita sandwich and it was so delicious! The chicken is marinated very well and is very juicy and flavorful! The pita itself is also so devoid tasting, I can order more of their pitas! Within the pita comes salad and white sauce, which just accentuate the flavors! I also tried the chicken shawafal rice bowl, which comes with salad, rice, chicken shawarma, pita and falafel. The falafel was pretty good and the platter was very filling and good tasting! The portion sizes are great! You only need one pita sandwich to be full and the medium platter was also very filling! Price: the prices are very reasonable! 2 chicken Shawarma pitas and a chicken shawafel platter was all only $25! Definitely a steal! Ambience: the storefront is not too large! They do not have outdoor seating. Service: very quick service! I called in and ordered and they were ready in 10 minutes

Had the food delivered to my place of work and honestly it was a breath of fresh air. All the staff loved it. The dips were amazing, totally recommend.

Ordered a large platter of the lamb/beef but I think he heard me only say beef. Anyways, the rice was bland, beef was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. That it had to be one of the worst halal platters that I've gotten for $15+ (including tax). I much have rather ordered one from a cart on the street for a fraction of the cost. The veggies were fresh and the portions were large. Came with a warmed soft pita.

Classic to-go spot right by the N/W train. It has like (3) 2-top tables if you want to sit down and chow down real quick. I love all of their stuff - the beef Shawarma, the chicken Shawarma and the falafel. They always have super affordable deals and my go to is the chicken falafel mix on pita for $8. Also, I don't get the white sauce but have them add their in-house tahini and it's so goood. Lastly, their desserts are - my fav is their tres leches. Enjoy!

They start you off with warm pita bread which is delicious. I think you can ask for me as needed. The highlights were the dips and the pork chop with apple glaze I think. I was particularly surprised by the potato one since it usually taste like mashed potatoes but here it actually taste like a garlic dip. The roe dip is still my favorite as it usually is. The pork chop I would get again next time. Tender and a sweet glaze. The other dishes were good too but the pork chop was top tier. The carafe of white wine was delicious and I'd get again even though I try to cut down on alcohol. Only thing that I did not like was the galactoboureko which they did say comes from Victory Bakery. I'd skip desserts here. They give you some Turkish delights which aren't as bad as the ones in grocery stores in America.

If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!

It was pretty quiet inside, outside of the TV playing somewhat loud highlights from the World Cup on loop (why,) with the servers and staff being helpful and friendly. In comparison to the other pick-your-own seafood spots like AbuQir or Hamido, the spices are a tad lighter here, being almost closer to Astoria Seafood, minus the olive oil. I didn't mind, though, as the fish was all fresh and perfectly prepared. To drink, our table stuck with water, though there are a few mocktails and some sodas, including some Algerian ones. They put down some simple bread with a bit of garlic and herbs, which was refilled. For non-seafood dishes, we had a few. The first was the $8 Hmiss, or Hammis, a dip made with roasted pepper, tomato, and garlic sautéed in olive oil. The warm dish was earthy and garlicky, and went perfectly with the bread, with the flavor reminding me of a warmer version of some Turkish eggplant dips. There was also the Peasant Salad for $12, with cucumber, tomato, red onion, and Kalamata olives topped with feta, oregano, and dill. If you're familiar at all with Horiatiki/Village salad, it's basically the same thing, though with crumbled feta instead of a block, and it was refreshing and tasty. Finally, we eventually got an $8 side order of Basil Garlic Mashed Potatoes, which were decent. The first seafood to arrive at the table was the $16.99 Algerian Sardines, which consisted of sardines from Morocco with a spice mixture. The man in front recommended them fried, and the portion was nice, and the flavor was excellent. The fish was fried perfectly, with the bones fried enough that the entirety of it could be eaten. This was delicious, and one of the highlights of the meal. As we loved these sardines, we eventually got a small order of the other option, the "Marinated Sardines" from Spain. These were a bit more expensive by weight, being $10.56 for 0.48 pounds, but by comparison, these were much flatter and larger. The half pound consisted of three large pieces, which were broken down and divided among the group. While I slightly preferred the spices from the Algerian version, I liked the texture of these more, as they were more meaty. I don't think you can go wrong with either, as both were excellent. There was also one pound of Mussels for $17.99, which was available in one of two cooking preparations, Moules Marinière or a version with tomato sauce, herbs, and feta. I went with the latter, and they were excellent, with all of the mussels being open. The feta added a unique, slightly salty touch, with the broth being delicious. They had brought us out some extra bread, and we made good use of it. If I were here alone, I might have this along with some sardines and leave very happy. We also got two whole fish, which were both ordered grilled and butterflied. First was the Dorado, or Orata, for $29.24 for 1.54 pounds. As is typical for this fish, it was delicate and light, but had plenty of flavor. The other was the American Red Snapper, which was a bit more expensive at $37.90 for 1.58 pounds. By comparison, this fish was a lot thicker and therefore, a bit more flavorful. We enjoyed both, with a slight preference going towards the cheaper fish for most outside of me and one other. Another highlight was the Scallops for $37.23 for 0.98 pounds, which came out to 14 large pieces. As recommended, we got these sautéed, with the scallops coming in a delicious garlicky juice on the bottom with plenty of other herbs. The scallops were tender while staying plump, though I slightly preferred the more caramelized tops at AbuQir, with these having a more uniform texture. The rest of the people liked what I couldn't eat, the $24.99 Octopus for around half a pound. The octopus came out pre-cut, which made splitting it very easy. I can't comment much on the flavor or saltiness as some other reviewers brought up, or else I'd be in the hospital right now post-anaphylaxis, but people liked it a lot. If you don't want to bother with the lines or crowds at the other fish spots, I would highly recommend going here. The fish is fresh, perfectly prepared, and seasoned just enough to highlight the natural flavors. I would go back.

I've never had Algerian-style seafood and was excited to try out Le Petit Pêcheur. We were a party of 6 and made a reservation that same day which was great! We arrived and got seated but weren't explained the process. First, you go up to the fish counter and order the fish you want, the amount you want, and the style you want it cooked (grilled, fried, or sautéed). They've done a great job with the display and I liked seeing the various options in front of me. The worker who helped us was super friendly and took the time to explain what each fish was. I also appreciate that their pricing is transparent (posted on their website). So why 3 stars? Once we finally ordered, we went back to our seats and ordered appetizers, sides, and drinks with our waiter. It took almost 40 minutes to receive the Greek Salad and Virgin Mojito we ordered. We had already received our Fried Calamari before that. Similarly, we got all the fish before the French Fries & Rice Vegetable Medley came out. It was frustrating and took away from the experience the fact that we didn't have the sides to eat with the fish at the time the fish came out. We literally had finished everything when the waiter came out with Lemon Potatoes which we had to send back considering it took too long to get them. It's a shame considering all the food we had was actually delicious. The Fried Calamari was crispy, tender, and not chewy at all, the Grilled Spanish Branzino was buttery, light, and delicious, and the Tiger Shrimp was grilled beautifully and the lemon olive oil mix just enhanced it even more. Even the Marinated Sardines were some of the best I've had. The fish was fresh, grilled/fried properly, and we truly didn't have a bad bite here. Prices are also more than reasonable. There's a clear lack of communication by the staff since two people within our group had provided their credit card to pay and they charged both. It's a shame we couldn't enjoy it as much as I hoped because of the operational issues. Hope they improve with time but until then, I won't be back.
