Big city dining in a small town! The Sheeley House is a cozy place with an upscale menu, not a saloon menu as the name would suggest. After our first visit, we have been back 3 times. The appetizers are fabulous and unique. The Crab Cakes are served with mango coulis and a pickled fennel slaw (apples, papaya, spiced chili, cabbage,and cilantro). They are so good. Even better was the Boom Boom Shrimp. This could easily be an entree. You won't be disappointed with the large quantity of shrimp served. I even left 4 because I was so full! The medium sized shrimp are fried and tossed in a Sriracha chili aioli. They are served on a bed of arugula and sprinkled with green onions. They are not too spicy. The roasted brussel sprouts are tossed with bacon, kale, walnuts, garlic, shallots, and a balsamic glaze. They are served with bleu cheese. Again, there are PLENTY of sprouts. I would say enough for a table of four to share. The bacon wrapped dates are to die for. The combination of salty and sweet will give your taste buds a treat! We also tried a couple of entrees over our 3 visits. The BEST surprise (and something I never thought I would eat) was the cocoa braised beef cheeks! They are slow braised and served in a red wine cocoa vegetable medley sauce. It is served with a delicious side of cauliflower potato-mash. The meat melts in your mouth. It is so tender and flavorful! I also had the vegetarian walnut burger. It was served on a brioche bun with avocado, arugula, tomato, and roasted garlic aioli. It comes with fresh cut fries. I don't usually order veggie burgers, but I decided to try. It was good, but I can't wait to go back and try the Sheeley burger. I guess I am more of a meat girl. The food quality, portion size, and value of this place can't be beat! The bartender, Jen, is so friendly and gives great service. Drove special to check out this place and it was well worth the drive! The atmosphere was perfect and all of the staff were so friendly. We got the boom boom shrimp, the smothered burger, and the walnut veggie burger, all of which was amazing! Not to mention that we got our food so quickly! We sat at our table around 8:30 and were done by 9:10! Multiple people stopped by our table to check and see how our dinner was. Its nice to go to a local spot where everyone is so welcoming! This was by far the worst place i have ever eaten. I ordered my bacon on my burger extra crispy and my burger well done. Both came nearly raw. The fries that came with seasonings on them had absolutely no flavor and were mushy. Wonderful people, funky old building, and good food and drink! The bar/restaurant faces the Chippewa River...and when the new park is done it should have a great view of the river. I haven't been able to get out on my own for awhile - but now that my kids are older, I'm finding I have more time to check out these hidden gems in our community. The place is so carming. Just a little run down but still has so much character. And bonus, it's clean! Great music playing. We ordered the valentine's special. So this may not be a totally accurate review. Typically "special days" may mean food not normally made. Started with the cheese curds. Real good. Salad was a little disappointing. The special cranberry mustard dressing sounded good but fell short. Great idea but needs a little tweeking. Lettuce was a little watery, tomatoes and cheese were from one of those big bags. Easy to get cherry tomatoes and better cheese. The main course was potato, vegies and sirloin. Potatoes were home fries with Italian seasoning. Needed salt and pepper. Frozen zucchini and peppers with Italian seasoning. Too much italian seasoning! Please only add to italian dishes. Frozen veggies are never a good idea. Also needed salt and pepper. The sirloin was very good, smokey flavor. But also needed to be seasoned. Desert was a delicious oreo truffle covered in white chocolate. If I lived here I could see being a regular. The atmosphere is so wonderful. So full of charm and comfort. I am impressed with the attempt to make good food. You can see based on the menu who ever created it knows what is current, but the recipes and food quality need attention also. I can see this place being a huge success with little changes that will make a huge impact. I would recommend trying the place. read more

Just reopened under new ownership !! Cheese curds were pretty good. Not the course / grainy breading im used to but still good. Had the Caribbean pulled. Pork twice last week !! It was so nice I had it twice. Ha. Something about the grilled pineapple just made the jerk come out in the pork. Also tried the fish fry and it was ok. 1st Bloody Mary was good. 2nd one was ok. FIVE STARS FOR SURE. We checked out the Sheelee House in December of 2017 and had a great experience. Duck wings were amazing. Also had the mushroom burger, excellent as well. Boom boom shrimp and truffle fries are a must order! This is one of my favorite local places to go in Chippewa, as the menu is eclectic and changing. Treat yourself to a tasty Bloody Mary as you hear about the history of the place! A rainy Friday, a dark autumn night. A disappointing pub. Our food arrived after a very long delay- we had ordered before some tables even arrived, and they got food far sooner. My sandwich was burned and the portion of fries was tiny; my coworker's salad was dismal in freshness and size; and two coworkers' orders were combined into one basket. Under new ownership and this place is an absolute gem!!! The mastermind in the kitchen deserves a shining gold star. This is possibly the best meal I have ever had in the Chippewa Valley. The beet flatbread is to die for (try it even if you think you don't like beets!), and everything else our large party ordered was delicious. The atmosphere is charming and relaxed. My only real recommendations to the owners would be a change of music, as the dance type music was a bit annoying.... And my other recommendation to the owners would be a bit of a dress code for employees. It didn't bother me at all but having the server/bartender in work out type clothing gave a low-budget feel to a high-end tasting meal (jeans and a black t-shirt would be a easy casual substitute). This is a gem in the Chippewa/Eau Claire area! I found it on Yelp and thought it sounded good as well as the pictures looked yummy. I went thinking I was going to get the Boom Boom Shrimp and bacon wrapped dates, but then Angelo, who was my waiter and is also one of the chefs, told me about the special appetizer that was Brussels sprouts. I am a sucker for these so I got them and the shrimp from his suggestion. I am so glad I did because they were delicious and they ran out of them shorty after I ordered. The shrimp we also amazing. They didn't have the blueberry cake that the reviews mentioned so I didn't get a dessert but will stop in again when I am in the area and hopefully it will be available. read more

i don't give such a high rating unless i really mean it. i am fussy eater a road salesman. it seems lie an eternal struggle to find a cozy place to eat with great food and great service. this place has all of that. i ate 3 appetizers for dinner; the duck wings which are really legs, the roasted brussel sprouts with balsamic reduction and the truffle fries. it was all great in portions that were big enough to be split 2 or 3 ways. next time i want to get a burger...a half dozen walked past me and the aroma was great. read more
