The owner, Diana has been doing my color/highlights for years and I would not trust anyone else when it comes to color. I have always left her salon extremely satisfied. So much so that I have even been asked on the street where I get my color done. It helps that I always enjoy myself while there. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I have referred many people, and they have all been extremely satisfied. If you are looking for an excellent colorist, look no further. I highly recommend you try it. I need to update this post. I did not want to come forward publicly because I insist on investing on community based small local business but the entire situation has left me feeling very uneasy and doesn't sit well with me. After my initial appointment, I booked once again with Diana for a balayage. When I arrive she sent me with her assistant. The assistant ended up burning my hair, this after over 10 hours of being processed. My hair was left with blue and purple hues. I wished I had taken a photo but Diana promised she would fix it & didn't foresee this whole scenario turning the way it did. I returned the next day, another 8+ hours of color correction. I leave the salon with all of this products on my hair that made it look healthy. BUT, I get home and wash my hair (with same products as I've always used) to find out my hair had been compromised. Please take a look at my photos. This is the way my hair looks now. I was obviously not happy with the results and messaged Diana on Facebook, privately.She was out of the country at the time and asked that i go with the same assistant that burned my hair. How can I trust an individual that put me in this position to begin with? She also offered Olaplex. That is not the point. The point is I was lied to and made believe that my hair had not been burned. I don't want a system of hair treatment to fix my hair. I just want a good job done to my hair, period. I shouldn't walk out of a hair salon after paying $350 for my hair to look like a broom from the dollar store??! I'm now trying to dispute the charge with my bank but Diana wants to take my money at all cost. She's claiming that when I left I was happy and that it was probably the shampoo i used that caused my hair to look like this...please look at the picture!! My hair is FRIED, DRY AND WEAK AFTER HOURS OF BEING PROCESSED AT HER SALON. The whole situation is so upsetting and embarrassing that I had to come forward on here to make others aware because would I be in her position I would accept I was at fault and return the money. I also plan to file a complaint with BBB because this is very unethical. People go with professional to have their hair taken care of- the FIRST time around. I didn't even get an apology for the way my hair was burned from her assistant. I wish her well, but I will not return to this business and will not be recommending her. I purchased a groupon for this place and when I contacted the salon Diane the owner was a bit rude and arrogant, she asked for a photo of my hair because I guess she said "everywhere you go" the price goes up depending on your length and what your hair looks like? I found it strange because I'm in my 30s and have never been told this rather than deal with that nonsense I simply refunded my Groupon and went to Personal Essence Beauty which is also Groupon but for $25 (which is cheaper than this place) you get a hair cut, style, and deep conditioning treatment without the worry of an up charge for having a bit longer and curly hair. Oh and I also got my hair blown out and straighten without an extra charge. Save your money from this place read more

I am very unimpressed and positively appalled with my experience at Sheer Hair Studio. I went in to get a 1" trim and was happy to hear that I would get serviced by the owner, Diana. Unfortunately, she did an extremely sloppy and uprofessional job, and instead of getting th 1" off that I requested, she cut a full 3 INCHES, and not only that, she left it extremely uneven. It is still uneven even after I came back and asked her to fix it. I am extremely disappointed, as I have expected more from someone who professes to have gone to top beauty schools. I originally found this place close to a year ago through Groupon. I had received a cut and a fill in with acrylic and loved it! I recently decided to come back for a trim, new set of nails, and balayage color. I am absolutely in love with the results! I needed to rush to make it to my anniversary dinner and they managed to get me in and out in a timely manner. I will be coming back here for now on! I have to say that it was a LOOONNNG night at the salon, but SOOOOO worth it!! Melissa did a great job with making sure my hair came out exactly the way I wanted! She did a test strand to see if my hair would take the dye to reach the color I wanted and then worked her magic. Melissa does seem like she still learning, but aren't we all learners in life, she consulted with the owner very appropriately, who was also amazing and they worked together to get me my purple-plum bayalage with long layers!! I absolutely love my new look for New Years. It was my daughter and my first time at this hair salon. We left there happy. Melissa did my daughter and my short hair cut. We both had long hair and we wanted something new and different. Melissa has patience and really educates you on caring for your hair. Do not be fooled by the size of this place. These woman have amazing hands. I took my mother in law for her birthday for a surprise makeover and these ladies did not disappoint. Very nice and polite. let's take a trip down memory lane and divulge to you all the the moment that led to the several visits to therapy i needed after the PTSD I now have from going to this place. ok i'm sooooo glad i found this place on here so i could leave a review! You all need to know so i can save you your money. This was by FAR the worst hair experience I have EVER had. I saw a couple other reviews share that they purchased the groupon and i did the same thing but when i called to make an appointment (which took some time and several phone calls because no one would answer) we were told by the owner to not purchase it and that she would honor the price. Fast forward to appointment time. So i had the absolute "privilege" to be done by the owner. keep that in mind as we continue. Let me start off by telling you all that I'm Deaf ‍ When we arrived, we (my dad and i) explained this to her in the beginning and asked her to use her phone to type her messages to me. At first she was so nice and accommodating but not five min into my appointment, she basically started and just kept trying to actually talk to me THE WHOLE TIME. In my anger, I was ready to start crying, she kept acting as if my disability was an inconvenience to HER. she was MAD AT ME? for being Deaf! Obviously something that i cannot change! just after this alone, i should've left but no apparently, im a glutton for punishment but also by this point, my hair was soaked. NOW, i will confess i am in and out of the hospital OFTEN so my hair was really knotted and i'll give her that. it took a long time to brush and i know it was rough BUT all she did was complain as she brushed my hair. She just kept making me feel guilty and hurt my head so bad, it was bruised for WEEKS after going to this place. She kept telling me that i needed to cut my hair bc she wasn't gonna spend anymore time trying to brush it. (Awesome ) also let's just insert here that She LOVES to argue as well. All I wanted was an all over color (black) super simple and two pieces in front that were bright pink. The groupon deal which we were talked out of buying also came with a hair cut and blow out, with style. The color came out ok but with my highlights, she didn't even go all the way to the root?!? when i stood up to look in the mirror, it was the FIRST thing i noticed??? and to my utter despair this woman would NOT put down the scissors to my hair even at the end. ‍ EVEN after i explained how triggered i am by getting my hair cut because of a bad experience when i was younger. One side of my head looked choppy with layering and the other side looked rounded. So NICE job because she has updated that traumatic hair experience to my visit to her salon. ‍ i had to physically pull my hair away from her and tell her to stop cutting my hair before we walked out the door. I'm my head, im like: "Edward Scissorhands, can you like CHILL?! " I'm sure she could see how not satisfied i was at the end so she continued to berate me about the condition of my hair from when i walked in and absolutely PRAISED herself as my SAVIOR for her work on me as i left. she kept telling me how much better i looked, how pretty i looked (bc clearly i was ugly before ) and that she did such a great job. that my hair looked so much healthier blah blah blah. not to mention, she kept touching me and touching my face, hugged me without my permission or consent and made me extremely uncomfortable. WE ARE STILL IN A PANDEMIC MA'AM. But I was so desperate to get out of there. I spent 6 hours in her chair and left so completely unhappy and so angry. This was supposed to be a late birthday present and a celebration of being out of the hospital and this woman ruined it. I have to now go to ANOTHER salon and spend more money to fix my hair. Please, i implore you. Save your money and the heartache , go somewhere else. preferably a place larger than my closet. (and not even a good walk in closet either ) I'll give her the 1 star because the COLORS of my hair were what i wanted even if the application was completely off. If you'll excuse me, I have therapy in 15 minutes. p.s. why have your business on Groupon only to discourage people from buying said groupon??? Make it make sense, dawg. read more

Just had the most amazing styling session with Diana!!! I had an appointment for a simple wash and cut, and after just a brief description of what I was looking for, she executed the most beautiful of bobs! She's a perfectionist with incredible intuition and an attention to detail that makes her stand out among all of the stylists I have ever encountered. What I appreciate most is that she reads your hair/head to make sure that the style suits the person wearing it! I lost nearly 8" of hair today, but gained a new look that has me walking on air! I went to the salon to have my fine hair cut into a layered bob. I had to go back twice for corrections. Finally the head stylist took charge and she gave me a jagged uneven cut like i have never seen. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend this salon to anyone read more

I highly recommend this place! My eight-year-old and I needed haircuts badly. Neither of us had a trim in over two years, so you can imagine the condition of our hair. We found Sheer Hair Studio by luck, and I am so glad that we did. We both worked with Melissa. She was fantastic. She took her time with each of us, routinely checking in to make sure we were comfortable with all hair decisions as she trimmed, layered and styled our hair. She saved our hair! My daughter is so proud of her new look! Melissa also gave us a lot of tips and tricks for caring for our hair; I really appreciated the hair education! Her philosophy is that you should not be 100% dependent on your stylist--makes sense to me! Aside from Melissa, the environment was lovely and cozy. Everyone was so friendly with us.
