We searched for a boba shop nearby (and even not so nearby) and Mochi Wren Boba & Bakery in downtown New Albany came up at the top of the list offering an authentic variety of popular boba tea, coffee, and latte options and also a fusion yummy array of traditional Asian baked goods. Okay, let's go... Not far from Boomtown Kitchen and New Albany Candy Shoppe we walked to this boba cafe. It was a quiet Saturday evening and the we were the only ones in the shop the entire time we were there. We chose coconut milk tea and strawberry fruit tea for our drinks and on the bakery side we got the last two egg tarts left and a chocolate cake roll slice. I love egg tarts and theirs was just like the Hong Kong-style version of the ones we get in San Francisco Chinatown, lightly sweetened, flaky, buttery pastry and smooth. She was good with making suggestions. We made our decisions; green tea cotton candy strawberry boba, green tea pineapple mango boba, black tea pear strawberry boba (see photo). Two of them were very pretty. Mike said his had an interesting taste. I totally enjoyed the taste of mine, but I soon learned there were too many carbs. James enjoyed his too. Even if one only visits without adopting, the entry fee helps to support the animals, and interacting with the animals helps with their socialization. The cafe partners with the Kentucky Humane Society and has adopted out over 10K cats/kittens! A portion of the booking fees and beverage/food sales helps provide financial support to the Humane Society as well. They have sister cafe in Covington, KY. This is the perfect spot for a date, a special outing for a child, a girl's day outing, and so much more. Follow them on social media to learn about their special events. Booking a a visit (1 hour of time to snuggle the cats) is simple at the Purrfect Day Cat Cafe website. The staff is super friendly and it is obvious how much they care about the welfare of the cats/kittens. The place is super clean with no litter-box smell, and all of the cute furnishings and toys are in great repair. The adoption fees are the same as those at the Humane Society. We were given a punch card and after so many visits you get a free visit. I can't wait to return! There is a lot of cat swag for sale (t-shits, stickers, toys and more) and there is a small, wooden deck on the side of the building (the entrance) for enjoying your beverage and snack outdoors if you prefer. Parking is street-side and the entry to the cat cafe is on the side of the building.
