Ok so after doing some research on hotels i decided to stay here and im glad i picked this place 1st of all the location was superb it's right in the middle of everything with a oceanfront view and you ca walk right to the beach they are remodeling the place and making it more updated they rooms have a fridge & microwave and they come with beach chairs and umbrella you can use for free to hit the beach they are adding a bar so that's gonna make it even better the have ice machine so you can walk to the store get some drinks food and snacks and keep them in the room or have drinks in front by the beach I'll definitely book here when I come back for vacation . read more

My room overlooked the back street, so not super scenic, but I didn't pay for the beach view. No food on premise , and my biggest knock was that the coffee pot in room was not good. This hotel is a unique monument to old Florida. The lobby is currently being remodeled, and the new furnishings are amazing. There is no pool, which I didn't miss, with the beach literally outside the front door. There are 2 Tommy Bahama beach chairs and a beach umbrella in the room, which we used daily, and an honor-system beach towel hutch in the lobby. We have a king bed, small bathroom, and up-todate decor, with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker in the room. There is also self serve coffee in the lobby all day. The staff, especially Theresa, are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Can't wait to stay here again. read more

The room was clean and updated. We had a microwave and fridge which was a pleasant surprise. Love the location on the Broadwalk. Next to Margaritaville and really good restaurants and bars which offered live music every night and good food choices. We will be staying here again. read more

Built in the 1940s. It has been renovated, but it's still old and dated. Which isn't necessarily bad. It is what it is. The doors stick. No carpeting, so everything echoes in the halls. Of course, that is mostly to deal with sand which everyone brings in from the beach (in their shoes, clothes, towels, etc). Overall, it was a comfortable stay. Dated, but clean. Hotel staff was very responsive and helpful. Steps away from the beachfront, and relatively close to some good dining. read more

Hotel Sheldon: You pay for what you get. And what you get at Hotel Sheldon is location. If you want to be on the boardwalk next to a Margaritaville Resort, and want to stay relatively cheap...stay here. Hotel Sheldon is just like booking a room on Duval Street in Key West. Its all about the location. Our room had no view, and we knew that. However I really should have considered the measurements of our room. I think their website even posts the measurements. Anyway, after a king bed, there isn't much room for anything. Upon checking in at night, the front desk clerk seemed to take joy ignoring us until she was finished doing whatever she does behind that desk. There was no one else in the lobby. Just be prepared to be ignored for a half minute before she says "what can I do for you." The day person was much more friendly and accomodating. There are beach towels in the lobby and an umbrella and 2 chairs in each room. In conclusion, if you are looking for a bed and a cheap place to sober up from a long hard night...just like on Duval Street...Hotel Sheldon may be your golden ticket. read more

Great location! Rooms were small, but had everything that you need. The walls were a little thin. But on a beautiful beach, we were barely inside of the hotel anyway. They say you can tell the age of a city not by the new buildings but by the ones that have been around and stood the test of time. This place is an older building that has been refreshed. Although the lobby and hallways feel dated, our room was a beautiful blend of the old with the new. This hotel is perfectly placed by the beach! The Sun rises right in front of it. The gorgeous beach is the front lawn. The building itself, although older, felt safe. You know it has stood the test of time. It's right near all the newest amenities and right next door to the popular Margaritaville Hotel, for almost a third to half off. We have been coming to Hollywood Beach from Ky for 5 years. We always stay at Hotel Sheldon. We have never stayed anywhere else. Yes it's an older hotel that has been updated, but it is super clean and right next-door to Margaritaville so you get all the benefits of everything being super close. Shops, bars, restaurants and drinks. The staff are super nice and we've never had any issues. We've always stayed oceanfront or ocean view so can't speak about the other rooms. I think housekeeping does a phenomenal job. The hotel provides two chairs, umbrella and beach towels. read more

First and foremost the hotel double booked our room. Therefore the room I had picked wasn't available. Due to the inconvenience the hotel ended up giving us an upgrade. Which we were told we'd have the upgraded room from Thursday to Saturday. That was all fantastic! Upgraded room was nice and it even had a balcony! Unfortunately 10 minutes after we left the hotel on that Friday I received a call that we HAD to come back and switch rooms immediately. It wasn't a nice feeling being rushed on vacation. The hotel did refund me the smallest amount and apologized but the damage is more or less done. Hotel very old vibe. Rooms were very basic. Housekeeping was fantastic! The hotel giving beach chairs and an umbrella was definitely a nice touch! Location is fantastic! read more

You can't beat the price and location! We had a great waterside view room and could just walk outside to be at the sandy beach or stroll down the Broadwalk. The hotel is centrally located along the Broadwalk and right next to Margaritaville where they have water park amenities and a fitness spa. Lots of great restaurants in the area! The hotel offers beach towels, umbrellas, chairs and boogie boards to be enjoyed at the beach. I found the staff to be generally very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean. It seems that the hotel was renovated within the last decade but it is by no means a new hotel. Looking at it's history, it was built in the 1930's(?), this was a high end hotel back then. Bathrooms are small with little surface space to place toiletries, etc. There is no built in fan in the bathrooms and the windows in our room would not open as they were rusted out. So just be aware of this if you are sharing the room... The beds were nice and firm. The AC worked well but we had an electrical shortage when apparently our room and the room next to us were using the hairdryers at the same time, it was fixed promptly once we notified the staff. All in all a great experience and well worth the money. We would definitely come back! p.s. splurge and get the water view room, it is definitely worth it, there is nothing to look at on the other side of the hotel. read more

Great location. Old building and out dated. Bathrooms real small. They DO NOT clean your rooms daily. Got cleaned one time in 7 days. Never enough towels. Ice machine broken forever. Staff is OK but not responsive. Owner does not even respond to complaints! Hallway has a real bad odor that lysol will not cover up. Definitely go somewhere else. read more

Room had a great view and was clean but dated. The two BIG things that drive my 2 star rating is that our room door did not have a functioning inside lock, only the card reader lock. Then my husband left his rather expensive electric shaver in the bathroom. When we called a few hours later they said the cleaning crew never turned it in and that there were guests in the room now. Called back the next day and they were very annoyed. So either the cleaning crew stole it or they did such a poor job cleaning that they left it in the bathroom and the next guests took it. Either way it's totally unacceptable. Will never go back. read more

Honestly.... It's not a resort. The front entrance can detour you but the overall room and attentiveness of the front door manager is amazing. Our first room the deluxe the dead bolt wouldn't lock so they upgraded us to the oceanfront balcony room. The room itself is nice. It does have a lot of sand embedded in the rug but what's not to expect when being across from the beach. The balcony made it a 5 star review for me. The people watching, and the ocean. I would come back in a heart beat. Check out the view, how can you beat it for 130 on the hopper app. With a 20 chair and towel fee and 10/night parking fee it's a no brainer. Small cozy hotel. Very clean. The hotel sits right on the boardwalk. You walk out the door of the hotel to the boardwalk to the beach. You have a clear view of the beach. All of the employees we encountered were very nice and helpful. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom looked like it was renovated. The air worked very well. The hotel is located right next to Margaritaville. There are restaurants and entertainment up and down the strip. I would definitely stay there again. read more

Hollywood beach is my favorite place. I LOVE seeing a smaller hotel in this area. The smaller places are being taken over by the huge companies. When we first got there we had a parking issue, and the man at the front desk went right outside and took care of it. Staff is very pleasant, rooms are clean and comfortable, price is extremely reasonable, and you can't beat the location!!! When we go back to Hollywood beach, this is where we will stay. If you're going on a cruise, go a day early, and stay here. It's a short Uber to the pier! read more

The staff was pretty nice and the location was very convenient. Right on the beach. I did however expect the hotel to be a little nicer. It looked as though it's were a really old building that was remodeled. Which is ok, but the remodeling job wasn't the best. Our bathroom was SUPER small. With no counter space for toiletries. Also very minimum amenities. They didn't even have bottled water when we asked for one. I'd recommend this hotel for the price and location. Thats all. read more

Kind and friendly staff, arrived 4 hrs early and they got us in our room right away. Hotel very clean and rooms too. Very nice bathrooms, room came with more than enough dresser space, flat screen tv, mini fridge, microwave, desk, safe in closet, iron and ironing board and best of all 2 beach chairs and an unmbrella to take to the beach which is literally right out the door. Dead center on the boardwalk so either way you go stuff to eat and live entertainment 1 block up. read more

I absolutely loved this hotel. Everyone at the front desk was very nice and helpful. They provide complimentary beach chairs, not a lot of places do that. They also have a towel station on the lobby... when you go to the beach you pick up some towels, when you come back you toss in the dirty ones. The rooms were clean and had a great view. You can't beat the location! Walking up and down the boardwalk was PERFECT! The only downside is no pool but the ocean was clean and amazing. read more

THEY DONT CARE ABOUT SAFETY!!! I'm going to tell my story: my husband and I made a booking thru Agoda to stay at this hotel from yesterday until Saturday. The day before my husband had fever and was not feeling ok. We decided to cancel our booking so we can quarantine. I called the hotel and told them this and the lady at the front who was supposedly very helpful told me there's nothing they can do or Agoda, she also told me she can "change my night" from today to tomorrow, which I found very weird since I told her my husband can be sick from the pandemic... She provided Agoda's phone number and hung up. I call Agoda and they informed me what I already knew: is the hotel who made all cancellations and money returns.... Agoda will follow up with them but, since they know their phone number, will never answer, and still not answering...!!! I called them back and told the lady at the front that all I want is cancel and ask her if what they want is having a customer that can infect everyone?? (She told me to stay at the hotel one night instead of two during my previous call!!) she took that as I was "threatening her". - Lady, I already feel threatened by you on not following healthy measurements!! - She transfer the call to her manager but, as I expected, she wasn't very cooperative.... People, do not stay at this place at least until the pandemic is gone since they don't care about your safety and health!! UPDATE: after several calls they finally answered the Agoda agent and decided to cancel my booking free of charge. Still I think people should be more careful where to stay. Obviously this hotel is not safe and you should know about it. read more

The place was under renovation when we were there, but it was still okay. I would for sure return. We "splurged" ($80) for the ocean front room and I'm glad we did. This place is no more than 100 yards from the water, less than 10 feet from the beach. It's not the Ritz, the shower wasn't great and the decor was totally worn down, but if you are looking to stay some place clean and cheap and literally on the ocean, you really can't beat the Sheldon. THE WORST HOTEL ON HOLLYWOOD BEACH! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Where do I start on my terrible Mother's Day experience at this establishment. I planned my Mother's Day here because I tore the ACL in my knee and could barley walk. I just wanted to relax in a nice room and look at the ocean off of a balcony pretty simple, or so I thought. I booked the room online originally but quickly noticed it didn't describe room and I wanted a view. I called the hotels and spoke with Paola originally. She was very nice and fixed my booking with no issues (or so I thought) when I arrive super late for check in another woman was there not sure of her name maybe Beatriz and she had noooo idea of my change of room to one with balcony. I had to stand for about 35 to figure it out she had to call a manager and all cause she did not know how to fix problem. LETS NOT FORGET I JUST HAD KNEE SURGERY 3 weeks ago standing is still uncomfortable. I was sooo exhausted I just wanted a room. The next day my 5 year old daughter came to spend the day in the hotel with me for Mother's Day. She immediately opens sliding glass door and what do I find Atleast 30 cigarettes and joints of weed all over balcony it has rained and it was smooshed everywhere. I close door quickly and on my way out for icecream with my daughter to distract her I nicely say to Mariano (rude little boy that has no business being an assistant manager AT ANY ESTABLISHMENT) there are cigarettes and weed joints all over my balcony can you please have someone clean it before I get back. His rude ignorant response was AND I QUOTE "my maintenance people are gone" it was early afternoon by the way. I did not reply cause I thought even if maintenance was gone Mariano being the assistant manager would take care of it. I WAS SO WRONG! I came back hours later to my room nothing had been cleaned. I can not bend down and do myself so I just didn't use the balcony. It get worse! No cold water to brush your teeth no hot water in shower. The blankets smelled like sweat. I had ordered a pull out bed for my daughter, because of my knee I didn't want her in my bed so she didn't accidentally kick at night. I was brought a bed with no blankets. I called around 9pm when daughter was tired for the blankets and the woman at desk said and I quote " I did not bring you thT bed I am not taking you blankets!! Maintenance is not here and I don't have a key." After a back and forth argument I decided to limp down stairs where I was given blankets the key must have miraculously appeared. She the told me the manager Mariano was a snobby little boy and didn't allow her to bring me the blankets, from the employees mouth. IT ACTUALLY GETS WORSE!!! I was booked for a late check out and they call the day of at 11am and tell me there is now a booking so I have to go early lol. I wanted to leave sooo bad it didn't even matter. I then tell Mariano all the issues I'm having and I felt I shouldn't be charged 624 dollars for 2 night on a balcony I couldn't access to charge me for regular rooms. Not only would he not give me a discount he would not give me my receipt I had to call the police, when he heard me on the phone he also called the police and told them I was barricaded in a room, I was in the lobby lol. Something a child would do. I would love to know who owns this place cause i doubt they know how people are treated here. I also spoke to a Brenda I believe she is the manager although she was not there my entire stay or the following week she seems to think she knows what happened and was also very rude. What was funny to me is she said I wasn't allowed back in that hotel I WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE. My daughter woke up with bites everywhere I'm pretty sure they have bed bugs. Floor was not mopped in forever you can actually walk bare foot and your foot would turn black. Runnnnn fellow renters do not rent here. Wayyy better bang for your buck would be riptide down the street. Anywhere but here!! My first impression of this hotel was small, outdated and plain but that didn't bother me. As long as it was clean, the location of being right off the beach was fantastic.. so, small would be ok.. I get to the room which is literally a bed, small table, microwave, refrigerator and less than 2x4 closet.. tight but ok with initial inspection it seemed clean. However, I did inquire about a switch to a bigger room. The manager who was very professional and pleasantly friendly said it wouldn't be a problem for an extra fee. He also said if I could be it on my 1st night's stay, he'd give me a deluxe for the same price, very nice i thought. So, why not wait right.... Took a stroll down Hollywood beach, picked up some food, sat around sightseeing and the remainder of my food and I were back at the hotel 2hrs later. I heated up my pizza, went to take it out and out comes a ROACH crawls out. Yes, you read that right! I was horrified..threw out my food in the hallway.. went back saw 2 more ( 3 ROACHES total crawling around the microwave area!!!!!!) I'm out.. straight to the font desk. Because it was so late( 12am) i accepted the room change. But, I was out of there by early morning and in Margaritaville....i am currently here so review will come later but I already know its going to be an excellent one!! My wife and I stayed here one night after four days in Key West. This is an older property, well kept, that's in a busy area. We loved the place and found the staff went out of their way to help us. I was concerned about parking issues on a Sunday afternoon (and some of the reviews here) but had absolutely no problems in the lot which was a 30 sec walk away. Right out the front door is a beautiful beach in the center of lots of restaurants and bars. Margaretville is literally next door and we liked Nicks for dinner and beers watching football. There were lots of Patriots fans in town for the game against the Dolphins. We used the free beach chairs and towels the next day before our flight back to the Frozen Tundra. We would stay here again anytime. read more

Staff was 5/5 stars, really nice and friendly Location was 5/5 stars, perfectly located right on the beach and in the middle of all the bars and restaurants. Also liked that they let you rent chairs and umbrellas for the beach free of charge, that was convenient. Rooms get a 1/5 stars, it was really disappointing how smalls the rooms and bathroom especially was, it was frustrating trying to move around with very limited space and the bathroom is so small you can't even put your stuff on the sink there is absolutely no room. Building and rooms are old and outdated, certainly needs repairs in basically every department. Also found it interesting that the painting in my room basically looked like blood splatter on a canvas, didn't exactly make me feel comfortable lol, not the wisest choice of decor in my opinion. All in all for the limited time we spent in the room the hotel was a good value compared to other hotels I looked up and mainly for the location. read more

Don't know about the lounge. My review is the hotel. It's an older building and looks kinda drab on the outside but it's been renovated inside and the room we stayed in (the Marilyn Monroe, I think) was perfect for us. Beachfront windows opened up and we were over the Broadwalk but it was quiet when we closed the windows. Mattress could have been a bit nicer but that is my only complaint. Price is reasonable and it's a very modern, well appointed hotel inside. Can't wait to go back. read more

My friend was originally booked at The Diplomat for 5 days. He ended up leaving The Diplomat after one night because the balconies wouldn't open (due to construction), and who the heck wants an oceanview balcony, when you can't even go out on the balcony? Pffftt! (I'll save that for another review.) His emergency second choice was the Sheldon -- and oh, what an awesome choice it was! The rooms were clean. The parking and wifi were free. The beach was literally steps away. You're on the broadwalk here. If you don't need all the 'resort' amenities, I highly recommend the Sheldon. Oh, and the frozen yogurt place next doors provides a discount to Sheldon guests. Nice! read more

I stayed at Hotel Sheldon this weekend and was very happy with the staff, accommodations, and service. The hotel is literally across from the beach. You could not ask for a better location. The rooms were not that big but they were clean, very well maintained and comfortable for two people. The building is from the 40's but is very charming and you can see that they have made a lot of improvements and are continuing to do so. They provide, chairs, towels, umbrellas and free parking! There are bars and restaurants galore and lots to do. I will definitely be returning to this little gem and will refer friends and family that come into town. Stayed here mostly for the location. Right on the Broadwalk. The hotel is still under renovation. The girl at the front desk was pleasant, but not really good at her job. A woman named Brenda was horrible. She introduced herself as the manager, but I doubt she is. Very rude. I won't stay there again as long as she's employed there. The view from the ocean front rooms was beautiful. The bathroom is old, not real clean, no stopper for the tub and very little hot water in the shower. The room was dirty. Lots of sand on the floor. This hotel reminds me of a spring break type hotel. read more

My Boyfriend and I chose The Sheldon to go on our Babymoon(us without baby getaway)We originally booked two nights and loved it so much we wanted to stay even longer so we booked a third night. We couldn't stay in the same room that we stayed in the first two nights which was the "James Dean Room"But we understood and stayed in another very comfortable room (forgot the name of that one) Now when we first Checked into The Hotel, the Clerk had a very Welcoming Vibe and had such a cute voice We had just winged it booking this place from a phone app by just a couple hours before a 9:00pm arrival. She couldn't find the confirmation but immediately did everything she had to do promptly so we waited for about half hour but the lobby was cute and comfy had water coffee and tea plus we were literally on the boardwalk and beach. For the inconvenience they gave us one of their best rooms that was thankfully available...again the James Dean Room...updated very nicely... & CLEANwas oceanfront view which made it memorable for that beautiful sunrise and sunset and clean and comfy bed with everything you need just absolutely perfect . All of The Staff Had Excellent Professional Attitudes. The hotel pleasantly provides very comfortable Beach Chairs Umbrella and Towels. You are next to Margaritaville and there are numerous restaurants and bars within feet from the hotel & beach to choose from. All restaurants breakfast lunch n dinner. We loved La Teyta (Peruvian). And the Taco place right next to the Hotel is freakin phenomenal! You have to try their famous Cocoloco Drink. It comes literally in the coconut . Picked this hotel for the location, right on the beach in Hollywood. It was older, but clean and we were happy upon checking in. The day after we check in, the beach is closed right in front of the hotel, for about a quarter mile on either side. I mentioned to the ladies working the front desk the fact that obviously we booked because we were right on the beach, and now that beach is closed, and the they told me if I wanted to complain, call the city. We loved this hotel. It is right next to Margaritaville but half the price. Our room was the Peter Sellers Room and it had a perfect view of the Atlantic Ocean. The staff were friendly and found a safe place for us to lock up our bikes at nite. The hotel was built in the 40s, but the rooms have been completely redone and are ultra clean, ultra minimalist, and ultra white. When you walk out the front door you are literally on the beach. There are complimentary towels beach chairs and parking. We really liked it there. read more
