I went requesting and oil change, they sent me a quote with over $600 of items needing repaired, many of which had been recently worked on. All in all, they did way more work than requested and I payed over 300 for labor for services I declined. I took my car in, gave them the error code and they called me later saying the total would be $1800. Included in that $1800 was $240 for them to verify the error code. They were going to charge $500 just for the part and another $200+ to install, i went to a dealership and the total for the part and installation was $540. They said the air filters (that had been replaced four days earlier) needed to be replaced, the spark plugs all needed to be replaced, and a tail light needed to be replaced. None of those things needed to be done. The one thing I can say positively is that they were not going to charge an insane amount for the battery if I had them replace that. They were however going to charge $75 for the test and replace of it. Advance Auto Parts does that free. read more

Just had my first service appointment with this garage and will 100% be back as a return customer! If you live near the park, the location (for both the garage and the attached gas station) is phenomenal. They do very good business so they're frequently booked up-- make an appointment if possible, they take preference over walk-ins. I called on a Wednesday morning to see when I could get in, and the earliest appointment they had was Friday. I needed an oil change, my tires inspected, and for them to check on an issue with my AC. You fill out a detailed service form inside the Shell station and the cashier, who is also a garage employee, takes care of it from there. When the mechanic called to give me his report, he followed my instructions to proceed with the oil change but get my permission for any other work needed. He told me my tires were in good condition (and didn't try to upsell me to make a buck). With the roads in Bmore being what they are, it would have been really easy to try that card (which some untrustworthy mechanics do more so with women), but this guy was honest with me and I respect that. He also said that my AC issue wasn't a problem that required any work and might just come and go, though harmless-- so again, saving me cash. Not Only were they RUDE ABOUT IT, But I Can't believe I live 1 block away from these guys and asked for some air and maybe a plug so I could get to work and instead of helping me so I could get to work, they said I'd have to leave my car ALL DAY. Have dropped off several times with the expectation they would get to my vehicle on the same day only to find out they can't get to it- so not good for someone that can't leave their car at the garage for several days Even for simple service like oil changes. Also had brakes and rotors done- must have rushed the job because parts were installed backwards. took it back one week later because brakes were squeaking and they looked at it and said brakes were fine. Since this place was so great at getting my old van passed for state inspection, I been taking it here (and sometimes to Gerry's Tire on Central) for repairs. Neither place gives me warm service like my former mechanics in NY or my sometimes mechanic in Saint Louis (MO) but, oh well. One thing that this place absolutely does not do well is keep the customer updated on repairs (getting estimates and how quickly the work will be done). One time, I realized it was getting late in the day and I hadn't heard from them so I call and the lady who answered the phone told me all the mechanics had already left for the day!!! Luckily, it wasn't a Friday... The owner apologized later, but still. This past Friday, I realized it was getting late in the day and I hadn't heard from them so I call and the dude who answered the phone told me they hadn't worked up an estimate yet but that the vehicle needed to stay over the weekend! Today, Monday, I call (because it's getting late in the morning and I hadn't heard anything...) and the dude says they were going to work up an estimate IN THE AFTERNOON. Oh, and likely, the work won't even start until the next day. (But, who really knows, right?) I'm lucky to be able to rent a vehicle so I CAN GET TO WORK but the lack of any sense of expeditiousness by this service station is head scratching. Do not come here! Extortion! Rip off! Unfriendly! Gas station: Consistently charges 20 cents more than other local gas stations. They do this because it's the only gas station in a one mile radius in Canton. Take the drive and go to royal farms by the highway. Auto service: Shady shady! Do not get service or an inspection here. They will always find something wrong, and then mark-up the price by at least 60%. I came to get a serpantine belt replaced. Upon reviewing the internet and other local shops, the average cost was about $60-$110. Nicholas charged $250. I was like um, that's not what your competitors charged. He said he only uses "premium" parts and that the labor charges were based on book values. Ok the parts cost $20. So that's $230 in labor for a one hour job. Are you kidding me? I never write reviews - but the service at Fleet Street Shell really has forced my hand. My car was having an intermittent check engine light, but was driving fine. Unfortunately, I had an up coming emissions test, so I took it to this service station to get it checked out (since it is very close to my house). These guys charged me $144 just to take a look at my car (which wouldn't get counted in repairs). After waiting 4 days for them to finally take a look at it, they told me that compression in one of my cylinders was low -- the only solution a complete engine overhaul (the guy on the phone told me that it would be at least $2,000+). No thank you. I took it to another shop which I trust (but is much farther away). Turns out there wasn't anything wrong with the compression. The guys at the other shop fixed my car for a total of $250 (their fee to examine it counted towards the repair). These mechanics are charlatans of the worst kind. I won't even be patronizing them to get gas anymore. read more

Took my car there on an appointment on Friday morning for second opinion. I had to call twice on Friday to ask what they have found and when is it gonna be fixed. The communication is way off in this place. Closing time they told me it's the MAFS which is a 20 min job to change or clean. I asked them to clean it first to see if that solves the problem. They said they can do it on Monday but will call me if it doesn't work and need to be changed. Monday I have called 2 times during the day to find out if the cleaning worked or not or need to be changed etc.. at 1:30 they didn't look at it yet. 30 min before closing time I got a call that they cleaned it and I can pick up my car ( 100$) so I went to pick it up asked the guy if it's working now fine he said yes. Turned on car and it's doing the same thing before not fixed. Was never offered an option to get the sensor changed but I can't imagine how long it would take to do that if a 10 Min cleaning took 2 full days. It felt like they just want the car to be gone and the 100$ for something is not even fixed... I would not take my car back there... I can't trust that it was even cleaned since the guy said non-chalantly it's working. He never walked to the car with me to make sure it is ok..... read more

I made an appointment to have my gas gauge fixed (it doesn't accurately track the fuel level and his caused my check engine light to come off and on). I dropped my car off on time, but heard nothing all day. I finally called right before closing to check-in and was told they didn't have the parts and needed to keep my car for another two days. I'm not sure why they wouldn't have called to tell me that considering most people rely on a vehicle to get to and from work. Anyhow, they call two days letter to tell me the right and left fuel senders have been replaced and that my car is ready. I pick up my car and fill my fuel tank, yet the gas gauge doesn't move. At this point I was leaving on a road trip for the holidays and didnt have time to bring it back in (yes, in a car with a broken fuel gauge... fun). The gauge didn't accurately record fuel levels for the entire trip and I had to rely on my odometer. When I returned home and called the shop I was I told "we fixed the problem and the check engine light is off now". They didn't fix the problem. I wanted a fuel gauge that works. I paid them more than $600 and expected a working fuel gauge. I didn't pay them $600 to turn the check engine light off. In addition, the woman that works inside the station clearly hates her job. She is the rudest person working in customer service that I have ever come across. read more

Pros: Location 3 mechanics who seem to know their way around a car Open flexible hours Cons: Price. They know they have a market share in Canton and really up -charge on gas and services. I tried to have a window repaired. Most auto body shops were chargning $200 to repair a motor. They charged $400. When I showed them estimates from other shops, his response, "sorry, that's what you get!" Great. Payment. They prefer cash. When I tried to use a credit card, he rolled his eyes. When I tried to split on 2 cards , the lady at the counter laughed. Bottom line: if you want to go to nicholas's, be my guest. You can't be the location. The first time I went there. I had a flat tire. I called to see if someone might be able to come out and fix it...I live about a mile from there. The mechanic got on the phone and told me that I had the type of tires that I could drive on at a certain speed, for a few miles. I didn't know that, and they could have just had me tow it there. When I got there, they immediately came out to fix my tire. Huge nail in it. They charged me $18. I would have thought it would be 3x that! I was out of there in less than 15 minutes. Still made iron time for work. The second time, I had an intermittent warning light on indicating I had a light out. I had already taken it to the dealership and they charges me $310 to replace the circuit board. Needless to say, it did not fix the problem. When I took it to the shell, they immediately found that the brake light bulb was going bad. They replaced it for $32 and it is finally fixed. They are fast, polite, reasonably priced and go out of their way to help. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! read more

The problem was diagnosed and repaired within a couple of hours, and the car was ready to go. The cost of the repair was very reasonable, considerably less than I expected. We had our cars inspected here a few months ago, and a tire repaired, and the staff at the window is always friendly and polite.
