I have been a lifelong nail biter, but recently decided I wanted to kick the habit. I had come to this location a few times for a pedicure and always liked the result. I asked if they had any recommendations for manicures that might help with nail biting and the wonderful Lee recommended a dip manicure. So far I've had two and I love it. The new managment wrecked my nails by sanding the tops of them without asking what kind of mani I wanted. I had to stop her from grinding off the tops of my nails - it will be a long time before they grow back strong and long. My pedicure was not good either: uneven and the nails weren't completely covered with polish. I could have done it better myself. Sometimes they are nice, while other times seem inconvenienced by their customers and sit talking on the phone while people wait for up to a half an hour while one person is serviced. I won't return even though I live two blocks away. There are other, better nail salons. read more

Listen, I never really do this but I wanted to share my bad experience, Friday I really need to get my Nails and feet done and I live 2 mins away and thought why not let me try this place out, when I got to the salon they did was get me to sit right away, it was clean. By the way I'm the only one there, so one of the lady Lisa was doing my feet and she did great, but lady that was doing my nails had such a bad attitude and was rushing to do it, and keep saying when did I get my acrylics nails taken off and I keep telling her that it's been a couple months and she just keep saying you can't take them off yourself and I was like oh no I always go to nail salon to take my fake nails off and she was so off and made me so uncomfortable but while I was sitting on the chair getting my feet down, I have been to alot of nail salons and they only do that when it's really busy totally get that, but like I said I was the only person there, the lady really didn't put to much attention to make sure my nails where even and good before polish and it's been 4 days and my nails are smudged and like paint looks weird. Saw the great reviews of this place, of which I later learned it was under new management; hence the limited number of reviews and their statement of "new to yelp". I had called prior to booking a last minute appointment, regarding the cost of gel removal w/ regular mani. First quoted, $5 for gel removal. Sounded promising and happy for the accommodation. I arrive to my appointment, excited to try this nail salon. The manager, who I believe's name is Tina. A nail tech started the removal for my previous Gel set. It was a process I was not familiar with compared all the other times I've had gel polish removed. I trusted the process: softened gel polish remover polish, nail drill and filed. Soaked in cotton ball acetone w/ foil for about 2 minutes. As expected, the tech was having trouble removing the polish smoothly. I can sense her frustration as she was making comments in her language (Vietnamese) to Tina multiple times throughout my service. She questioned me a few times and asked if this is actually "gel" or is it "dip". I told her kindly, multiple times it is Essie's Gel brand. Soaked in acetone longer compared to the first time, my nail polish came off w/ the nail drill and filer. This whole time, Tina was convincing me I had "HARD GEL" polish on and they normally charge $10 because of how hard it is to take off. Unheard of from a customer perspective, as I had mentioned to her that I would have not known if I had HARD/SOFT gel on. I often go to the salon, choose a color/brand (Essie, OPI, or CND) and never had inquire whether it was HARD/SOFT. I later confirmed with the previous nail salon, they did not use HARD gel on me and DO NOT carry any hard gel. I noticed my nails were not evenly cut/filed, some nail were longer than others. I gave the benefit of the doubt perhaps prior to applying the new color, the tech would be more detail oriented and not rushed. (btw, there wasn't anyone in the shop other than me). Except, I realize the tech didn't notice nail length/difference and unevenness. side note: tools were taken from a drawer, unsure how sterile or clean these tools are since it wasn't from a sterilized packaging. ex. nail buffer/filer sponge was not a new one (which it should be single use) and nail cuticle cutter.. This all took 1 hour to complete. I decided to not go through with the application of the new color for a manicure and asked to be charged for gel removal and it is okay to charge me for HARD gel removal. originally she wanted to charge for the amount of a manicure + gel removal ($25), because they gave me a oil massage and cutting/filing, despite color application and stated it took the tech an hour of her time. At this point, I asked to be charged for the tech's time and service , despite my satisfaction. Meanwhile, the tech was speaking in another language saying something (although she's spoken to me in English throughout my service), Tina didn't feel comfortable and decided to charge me $15. It is not about the cost of the service, but the experience is disappointing and not relaxing. I felt like corners were cut as far as standards of practice; thus creating more work for the tech, 1 hour total time spent. Good acetone up 10min soak would have done the job. I truly believe this salon would have great potential under new management w/ location and cost but it isn't for me. Pros: -Responsive and easy to book appointments -willing to accommodate or tries to put the customer first -appears clean, as Tina has been cleaning throughout my service (although take note of the tools for future clients, do they come from a individual sterilized package?) -cash/credit/venmo payment -looks like they do great work for acrylic and dip nails -free parking available Tips: -specify whether you have HARD or SOFT gel on for removal process (it'll save you the trouble/time). -ask for tools to be individualized or in sterilized packaging vs. from their drawers full of tools unpackaged. (I hear the rummaging) read more
