There was hardly any filling, the ground beef wasn't seasoned, no tomatoes, no grated cheese except a few bits, and the shells were stale. We also got a mushroom burger. Stopped in for lunch yesterday at just after noon and found this popular place full of Corrections Officers from the nearby prison, so the line was a bit long. We ordered a foot long hot dog, a Malibu chicken sandwich, and onion rings, and all were great. The onion rings were the best we've had in years. They're very old school here (which we appreciate), but also very efficient, so our wait wasn't too bad, despite the crowd. Not many choices in this small town, but this choice is really good. Great place for a burger - In fact, probably the BEST within 20miles! Their menu is very easy to figure out quickly, and the food is REALLY good. Where it is all made in-house I was expecting a longer wait, but the food came right out. They do a variety of fires (so, we had to try them all) and the battered fries would win any competition! Great value for the price, and the long lines only PROVE this place is best around, and customers a willing to wait for something this special. read more

Very slow to get food but a steady stream of drive through customers so we didn't mind. Finally got food m, western burgers (2) looked horrendous with very little of the described condiments. My pastrami burger was another disappointment. Bun was dry and hard, a single dollop of mayonnaise. I asked for no onions...looks like I got extra onions. Shelle's in Gunnison serves up a pretty traditional drive-up menu of burgers, fries, shakes, sandwiches, and the like. They also have salads, tacos, and a lot of other items -- it's a pretty large menu. We ate here for lunch the other day and the burgers and homemade fries were pretty tasty. If you go here during a school day the place may be overrun by high school kids, because the local high school is right across the street. You've been warned. read more

We were driving through on vacation and found Shelle's place. Food was great, service was excellent and the prices were good.

Not worth dealing with the employees. When visiting Gunnison, Shelle's is one of the only restaurant options available, which is no doubt why they are still in business. The food is average; their ice cream is the only redeeming factor. Every single time I've come here, the employees have been rude and incredibly slow. Last night, my fiancé and I planned on making a quick pit stop on our way out of town for some ice cream. We drove up to the drive through window and waited 5 minutes... 10 minutes... 15 minutes!!! Nobody even acknowledged our presence at the drive up window, even though we could clearly see two employees inside. We ended up leaving because they did not seem to want our business. Shelle's was not busy at the time, there were only two cars in the parking lot. I have no idea why they did not want to pay attention to the drive through customers. For a small, local business, you would think Shelle's would be more concerned about satisfying customers. Very disappointed. We will take our business elsewhere. read more

Okay burgers as far as fast food goes and a lot is lacking in speed and customer service

If you've ever been hangry (so hungry you get angry), then you may have traveled through parts of Utah on a Sunday. While this is not a surprise and I simply forgot about this phenomenon, I was in dire need a food without an open restaurant in sight. And then came along Shelle's. Open and ready for business. No, the food is not remarkable, though sometimes don't you just crave a slightly-greasy burger and fries, or fried chicken strips? I did and this place hit the spot. On an 80+ degree day, fries and ice cream bring back childhood memories. You can dine in, eat outside, or drive through. I'll be back. read more

My family and I eat here quite a bit, used to be really good. The last month or so it hasn't. It's really frustrating when we all order food, and none of it comes the way we ask for it to be made. Just now my boyfriend and I ordered 2 bacon cheeseburger and got burnt cheeseburgers. Not to mention WE ARE PAYING for what we freaking ask for. If you don't want to cook, and make food how people ask, find a new job. It's rude. I feel like you're wasting my time and money and leave me disappointed. I'd much rather eat somewhere else if this Is how it's going to be from now on. Last week my family called in an order, it was 3 pastrami burgers, and 1 mushroom burger. I asked for toppings on my pastrami burger, literally pickles and a tomato. When I got the burgers they only had pastrami, burger and bun. Nothing else. Sometimes we get breakfast there too and still they do the same thing. I hate to say bad, or anything at all because I have worked in the food industry for many years. But I had never ever serviced anyone like this. Not to mention they can be very rude when asking for condiments. I was in town for a week on a job, and luckily we found Shelle's. We ate here twice and it was great. The food is inexpensive and is good for the price. They have a good selection of American and Mexican food. We didn't have a problem getting a table during lunch hour. Great place! read more

It's more like 3.5 stars. This place is a great greasy spoon! Their breakfast burritos are really good and their lunch is good too. However I counted about 50 dead flies in each window that was pretty unappetizing. I mentioned the all the fly carcasses to the girl behind the counter but a few days later they were still there. I guess that's what you get when the place is run my apathetic teens. If they cleaned those out and finished the decor this place would be a real gem! read more

Whoever Shelle is she needs to be their tending to her business. The place is flithy. Tables had not been wiped off and bathrooms were gross. Garbage cans were over flowing and the place had only been open for an hour on Thursday. The help needs to be told not to chomp their gum while waiting on customers and they should be required to wear clothing that covers their butt and naval. Thought I was in a strip joint. The food was so horrible. Greasy, greasy fries and way to much ketcup and mustard on the burgers that were not cooked. Still raw!! Great food for the value! The mushroom burger had a great bun and lots of mushrooms. The small taco salad was tasty and filling. Our grasshopper shake was made extra thick per our request. We eat here all the time. It's local and our options are limited. I don't usually eat the hamburgers here, because they are paper thin and not very good.
