Went in for a plug/patch on the wife's car. My mom. sister and I had purchased tires over the years from Shepherds with good results. However, my wife's tires were recently replaced when we were vacationing out of town. Since the tires were not purchased there, the patch cost was double. Shame on me for not asking the cost in advance and assuming I would get the same estimate as the gentlemen ahead of me. If I was a potential customer I would not have been encouraged to even price a new set of tires there. Quality service....great price....honesty. These are business attributes that are sadly lacking these days. Shepherd's Tire Service is a welcome exception. Many is the time that the auto dealership told me that I needed a part or service and when I went to Shepherd's they told me that the part/service wasn't needed at that time. They could have told me I needed 4 tires immediately...and I would have believed them! It's good to be able to trust a business again. Shepherd's prices are extremely reasonable and more than competitive with the dealer. Free air and checking tires for leaks...low cost flat repair are but a few of their reasonable services. I went there after Nissan said my tire could not be fixed. By the time I walked out of Nissan it would have been 300.00. I was told the nail was in the outer part of the tire and so was unrepairable. Shepard's took a look and said my tires were like new and could easily be repaired although they could not do it. They sent me down the street to a smaller place that fixed it in minutes for 15..00. Excellent service! I called looking for two tires for my truck but only had a certain budget in mind. I had been looking for days. When I spoke to the gentleman on the phone he found four tires at a better price than I was even expecting for two!! I don't know if this place is the cheapest, but I will say that they don't give you the hard sell or try and find 15 things wrong with your car in some attempt to scare you into buying stuff you had no intention of buying when you walked in the door. I went in with one bad tire. I wasn't sure I wanted to get a new one right now because my car is going to be dormant for a while in the near future. The manager (Kevin) went out and looked at it, measured the tread and said I could probably get away with waiting. He filled all my tires and the pesky interior light went off. I made a 600 mile trip after that visit and the bad tire got worse, interior light indicating tire trouble came back on so I went back to Shepard's and bought two tires for about $180 installed. They were very fast and got me in and out in a very reasonable amount of time. A lot of locals were in the store, which might tell you something about their reputation in the community.
