Traveled for the a one night stay for one of my close friend's wedding. There's valet parking but my husband and I went to a parking garage instead. Check in was easy and the staff that checked us in were friendly and helpful. Love the cookies at the front btw. The room that we got checked into was pretty nice and had a great view of the city. I love how everything was walking distance because we were able to walk to the church and then to the reception. The sleep was what you expect for staying in a hotel (and without kids). We used the room to hold our things and get ready at and sleep. read more

I traveled to Raleigh for a three night business trip. Fortunately, I spent little time in the hotel, as it could have been a better experience. My room was ok -- closer to 2.5 stars than three but my room was clean and that is ultimately what I needed for a business trip. The room included a bed, sofa and work table. Large TV was on the wall but I did not turn it on. It was not luxury but it was fine for a business trip. The bathroom was also clean, but it would really have benefitted from updating. I felt like I was walking into the bathroom that my parents built in their retirement home in Florida in 1990. See the photos and you will see what I mean. The staff were pleasant but lacked any sense of urgency. I needed access to the business lounge -- which is supposed to be open all day and yet was locked -- and I did not gain access for more than an hour after I requested it. I've stayed at three hotels in Raleigh and have not loved any of them. For my next visit, I will definitely be trying hotel number 4. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences I have had in a hotel in a while. When we arrived to our first room...there are 2 in total...it had old food in the refrigerator, smelled bad and had plenty of issues in the bathroom. Not to mention the door didn't lock properly. We made our second trip to the front desk to get another room. This one was an upgrade with laminate floors instead of carpet. At this point we were tired from a day of traveling ready for bed and go to shut the lights and rest assured the light attached to the bed frame was broken and just stuck in the on position, directed right at my head. We call the front desk to see if they could send someone up to just disconnect the light or just some tape to hold it in the off position. It's 11pm and after 30 minutes no one came, despite another call to the front desk no success. It was such a mess. We were there for one night and it was dreadful. Upon checkout the next morning they said the front desk took note of all the issues and that a manager would call to try to make it right. They never called. When we called days later we finally got in touch with them and said they would credit me points and it never followed through. It was ridiculous. This hotel is far below the standards of a Marriott property and is in need of some serious upgrades. Do your homework and do yourself a favor and stay at another hotel downtown. read more

Not a good hotel. The room smells of heavy cigarettes but at least there's a gym and it's in downtown. There is also a hotel bar but they close at 11. The television is also useless since it only has a screensaver that says Marriott. The AC works but I don't think they changed the air filter. read more

I attended the Southeast Rail Forum #SRF2025 at the Sheraton. Because I live in Raleigh, did not have a room. The event was on a Tuesday and Wednesday. The Oak Forrest Ballroom is excellent. Buffets were set up for breakfast and lunch in the Esplanade in front of the ballroom. There are meeting rooms in the Hanover (Truist) Building which is connected to the Oak Forrest Ballroom and Esplanade via a very cool skybridge. Jimmy V's Ostria & Bar is on the lobby floor. I chose the Sheraton hotel in Downtown Raleigh to stay the night before my jury duty service to avoid leaving super early and avoid the morning traffic. I had stayed in this hotel about 20 years before before I moved to the area so was familiar enough with it and it was close enough to walk to the Justice Center. The parking garage is across the street and the hotel and was $22 for the day. The hotel site had said it was $12 a day and the garage had a sign to bring your ticket to the hotel. But I was told they no longer have anything to do with the parking garage as of 10 days ago. If I had known, I would have parked in another garage or lot. Check in was otherwise friendly and helpful. I was not given a welcome gift. I was put on the 17th floor which is the Club Level. I was impressed by the room with all the outlets, some were even in the couch. They had the plank flooring and I could tell it was updated at some point. The bathroom appeared clean and had nice amenities. I also liked that the key card was needed to reach floors 5-17. The ceiling had evidence of water leaks. Then after being in the room for a little bit I heard the noise. At first I thought it was outside and maybe construction or from the event. But it didn't stop when it got dark so it wasn't that. It would go for a bit then stop and start up again. It sounded like a jack hammer. I'm not sure if it was from the AC units or a generator on the roof or something with the vents or pipes. It may have even been the elevator. I'm not sure what it was but it kept me up and I didn't get much if any sleep. The plumbing does not seem to have been upgraded as it took multiple times to get the toilet to flush. I had access to the lounge which was much smaller than I expected with maybe 6 tables and a couch. The lounge was open in the evening and for breakfast. The staff both times were friendly. The morning staff even called to have someone check on the room noise. I have no idea if they looked into it though. Alcohol was available in the evening as well as other beverages and some snacks. They had quiche; muffins; cheese, crackers, fruit and veggies. Breakfast was scramble eggs; bacon; sausage; potatoes; fruit; oatmeal and beverages. Thankfully I did not need to stay another night. I would have moved to another Marriott property if I did. read more

Pretty nice hotel which is convenient to a lot of spaces in the downtown Raleigh area. Whiskey Bar to the South, Mezcal Bar to the North, Beer to the East and Beer to the West. Everything you need, right? The room was a tad small but I've been in smaller. The bathroom was big though so that was a plus. Lighting in the room was a challenge but lots of USB ports made charging all of me peripherals easy. The "Desk" was sticky AF and I don't know why, maybe overspray of cleaner (at least that's what I told myself). The TV was HUGE for the room which was nice. The 3 elevators were S L O W and I spent a lot of time waiting to go up and down. And when it's crowded and your high, you stop at almost every floor on the way up and when you come down. The staff was super friendly. which took it up to 4 stars from the 3 I wanted to give it. It could use some TLC, but it's a great spot and comfortable and safe feeling! Stayed here for a conference and would not recommend. The hotel is super dated - the 90s called and they want their decor and styling back. The bathroom was so small, I had to shut the door to sit on the toilet! Water pressure wasn't great either. The walls are paper thin. I could hear everything my neighbors said/did. Super annoying. TV didn't work in my room. It would turn on for 10 seconds and shut off. Stay at the Marriott next door - looks and feels much nicer read more

I was unlucky enough to be put in room 1330 and the hotel was sold out for the night. Dirty, grimy, trash from the previous guests, paint peeling off the ceiling, wallpaper peeling from the ceiling, cracked/broken tile in the bathtub and a bent and busted up heat register/vent. The bed was hard as a rock. I told the desk clerk about the room and she just said, there's nothing I can do for you. My response was - I don't really want you to do anything for me, your staff needs to be aware of how poor the condition of this room is. The check in process was quick and efficient and the personnel made sure you left with all applicable information. The rooms were spacious and kept very cold. Make sure to turn it up or bring yourself an extra blanket. House keeping ensured the room was clean and fresh and amenities were fully supplied. Ny room did have a refrigerator as well which was a PLUS. For eating purposes, you can find many restaurants in the immediate area. Went to Raleigh, NC for a work trip and had a wonderful 5-day stay at the Sheraton! Checking-in/out was a breeze and the room was very clean, spacious, and had everything I needed. The bathroom was honestly the best part because it was huge, clean, and nicely remodeled. It's as modern as it gets and honestly, I think the floor was heated too haha. 100% also recommend because of its location. Within a mile or two from this hotel is the DT area. There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants all around. The only downside was that the pool wasn't open during my stay. Granted, it was September-ish but it was still hella hot. Roaches in room 1331 on June 18th 2024. There are multiple reviews on Trip Advisor from 2022 and 2023 talking about a roach infestation in this hotel. This has obviously been an issue for years and hasn't been resolved. Disgusting. read more

I really enjoyed staying here for my conference. The room was spacious and I like that the floor was tile instead of carpet. The bathroom was a little small and there wasn't much space to sit in the toilet because the bathroom does was right in front of you. Latisha helped to get me checked in and out and she was very kind, and willing to assist when I had issue with my reservation. The hotel has a store, restaurant, coffee shop, and a huge lobby to name a few things. They have multiple floors so you can take the escalator, elevator, or stairs. Throughout the day they have cookies in the lobby and those cookies are good. If you need to have your bags held because you arrived to early like me to check in like me they do have a concierge. There are a tone of restaurants in walking distance as well if you don't want to eat at the hotel. read more

Stayed here because my holiday work party was downtown and we didn't want to drive afterwards. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly. The room, for the price, could have had a fridge but we were only there for the one night. Great location for staying downtown. Worst hotel experience I have ever had. First room toilet was broken. Second room sink does not drain. Shower is a trickle. Missing basics in my room. Some much maintenance has not been done in this hotel. Conference room bathrooms basics are not working-locks on doors, multiple lightbulbs out, doors do not close. One of the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The hotel was build in 1937 and it seems they never changed anything inside. Hotel has a smell to it when you walk in. The rooms are old and dusty, which means if you have any allergy then you might as well leave to save yourself. Bathrooms are small and no towel holder, which means you need to come out wet to get the towels that are placed on a table outside the bathroom. Sink and tub backup so water will fill up quickly to the point that you cannot use either. They have coffee machine in the room but no cream or sugar. In a 19 story building only 1 elevator and half of escalator are working. I am very disappointed with my stay. read more

Returning to Raleigh and staying in downtown this time, I decided to revisit the Sheraton. I stayed three nights this time. No problem with the cleanliness of the towels or the room. It is a nice property that is centrally located about five blocks from the State Capitol building. There is a restaurant in the hotel and there are countless restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Free street parking if you can find it or hotel guests can use the parking deck across the street for a charge. I kept the DND on the door for the entire stay as well as the "make a green choice" card. I was not disturbed during my visit. The room has a good coffee maker and included the usual supplies including actual packets of UHT creamer. There is no fridge and no microwave in the room, which is customary in full service hotels. I imagine that you can request them. Why not five stars? The constant door slamming all morning and all evening. This hotel needs to invest in slow-close doors. On the 17th floor where the Sheraton Club is located, I'd expect the guests to be more considerate. I have to imagine this problem is worse on other floors. Do not stay here. This is the worst and I mean WORST Marriott property that I have ever stayed. Room was disgusting. Used Womens razor I. bathtub along with long black hairs. Used toothpaste tube and nail file left on bathroom counter. HOW do you miss these things while cleaning??? 830p go down to get a soda from front desk. They have beer and wine but.....no soda? I go down one level to the supposed "convenience" store on the property only it's closed on Sundays. Back to front desk, where can I get a soda? Desk clerk offers up the bar, when I tell her I want it for the room she suggests a supermarket 4-5 blocks away. I am thoroughly disappointed with this property and also with Marriott. Did I mention. the glass in the hallway outside the room and the fact that there is no fridge so I have sodas and beer on ice in the bathroom sink? I could have stayed anywhere and I ended up in this shithole. Smells musty. Just stay somewhere cheap instead of this place, that way you know what to expect and you will not be sorely disappointed. Had to go to the front desk four times when checking in because the key would not work. First day I had warm water. Next day I had cold or freezing cold and could not take a shower. Light switch didn't work, no hair dryer, no "do not disturb" door hanger. Stay somewhere else. This place used to be good, not they probably only survive because of location. This place is a hell hole. We are staying here for 9 days. The air conditioning has not worked from day 1. We are now on day 8. We came into the room at 9:30 and they had set the HEAT TO 82! The drains are slow. The shower leaks so badly. It stinks of mold. It has been a hands down the worst experience I have had. We booked a block of rooms here for my daughter's wedding. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, kind, helpful and professional from start to finish. Any request that we or our guests had, they accommodated. The walkability to other restaurants was awesome. Having a coffee shop and restaurant onsite was incredibly convenient. The night of the wedding we all gathered in the lobby for an after-party -- they set up a table for us, helped us access some food and wine, were so helpful and fun and just made the whole experience a blast. We stay places all over the country from Mom and Pops to 5 star hotels. We prefer to stay at a Hilton or Sheraton for business or celebration events. This hotel is atrocious, broken escalators, poorly labeled venues (we had to search to find registration) bathroom was tiny and bathroom exhaust vent only made noise but didn't do anything. It's 2024 and doesn't have bed side plugs for phones or chargers. Searched behind bed for location where bed lamps plug in and found a Dollar General plug strip under bed, really felt unsafe sleeping with that under my bed. Bathroom is dated and gross. Room very dated. Positive note staff is extremely polite and caring, definitely not our typical Sheraton standard we are use too. read more

Not a bad location for Sheraton. For the most part they are nice and this one is no exception. Two lobbies on each side of the hotel and they are on different levels. Huge lobby where the check in desk is. Plenty of seating as well as a coffee/snack area. The rooms are nice. Couch for more than one person, desk, coffee maker and safe.
