I had to run a work errand in Fairview Heights. My reward for the work errand was Sheridan's. I ordered a milkshake with caramel and Heath Bar. I love Sheridan's custard. I live very close to their closed chesterfield location and used to eat it all the time. The shake was perfect and I was able to drink it on my way back to work. What I love about this place is the handcrafted, bespoke choices and its a place you can tell someone cares about and that they care for the community. Hiring local students, you know that kind of thing. I love coming here for a late-night treat especially since it is one of the only places that are open late. Other great choices are the smoothies. Very tasty. You can tell the frozen custard is made from high-quality dairy which is a plus. Some of the items are pricey but I am sure because of the high-quality ingredients they are sourcing. But when my best foodie friend said that she'd experienced quite the opposite (thanks to the wedding cake mix-in), I was totally down to give it another try! While wedding cake wasn't mentioned on the menu as a possibility, after asking we found out that it was something we could order! While my friend went with the sensible and basic wedding cake concrete, I did my usual craziness - a concrete with wedding cake, Reese's cups, Oreos and peanut butter! my husband and i wanted a "quarantine treat" and have been eyeing this place up whenever we drive by! thankfully, they have a drive-through and we were able to get a Dirt & Worms to share. it was super good! the custard was thick and really creamy with a plethora of oreos to add that extra yummy flavor. wasn't too sweet or too vanilla-y (don't think that's a word, but oh well). the sprinkles on top added a really good crunch and the gummy worms were super cute and yummy! i love how they get a bit frozen if you let them sit in the ice cream for a bit- so good! will definitely be stopping back here this summer! thank you guys for staying open- and thank you to the employees for working during the current circumstances! we are very grateful read more

I occasionally frequent Sheridan's! My absolute all time favorite is their mango dango! It consists of mangos, pecans, and cherries with vanilla frozen custard. I've tried a few of their other items and it's not that great. As other reviews say, sometimes the custard can be runny but it's a hit or miss. I've never had bad service here. I took one star off because the other day I had ordered a scoop of ice cream. Literally half of the size of a baseball for 2$. If I would of known it was that small and expensive I would of pass or asked for 2 scoops considering it was a few cents extra. This place was my first introduction to custard twelve years ago and we stop here every time we visit Fairview heights. The place is small and cozy and the service is speedy. The drive thru has one window to pay and serve but they move fast. This is an old school place that serves the same flavors the same way all the time. It's open from 11-11 in the summer so you can go for lunch and dinner. I love the salted caramel crunch flavor, the blend of salt, sweet with a bit of crunch is such a delicious flavors. read more

This place is a hidden gem, across from the former VFW. I am surprised it has lasted remaining open even throughout the winter, when everyone else closes. The ice cream is awesome, hard to go wrong there. The chocolatecustard is to die for, but can get costly unless you keep it simple with a cone or small sundae. We love the ice cream, which is what keeps us coming back but the customer service at the one in Chesterfield isn't great. Each time we have gone there they have been confused and slightly rude. There was one time I was ordering and there was silence. I asked if the lady was still there. She said I was just going to fast. Sounded like she got upset and just didn't respond! So I slowed down, she was still rude. I didn't know what was going to make this girl happy. We get to the window and they seemed really confused. There were about 3 employees rushing around. One guy came to the window to hand me the ice cream. I hadn't paid yet so he said, "Oh I didn't know she didn't charge you yet." He takes the card and puts it next to the register. I made the mistake of turning my head and didn't watch to see if he swiped it. Silly me! Well another employee comes to the window and tells me the total. I pointed to the card on the register. She asked if I paid. I said I didn't know if he swiped it. She got mad at me for that answer. Then another employee came and added to the confusion! Confused yet? lol so was I at the time! The previous employee tells the other one, "She said she hasn't paid yet." I said no, I said I didn't know if he swiped it yet. All they had to do is look to see what the receipt said that was on the machine. They hadn't given someone their receipt. They were just very rude and confused. We finally got our order and left. I almost swore off Sheridan's that night. The following visits weren't that bad but they weren't good either. The frozen custard is good but the customer service is not! read more

A four for me, and the reasons are simple. No low carb or sugar free options for custard, and no military discount. I will say that the consistency and flavor of the custard is delicious. It is sweet and creamy and they have a pretty big menu as well as being able to create your own. Prices are a bit high but nothing unreasonable. Will most likely come back if we are in the area but wouldn't drive out of my way to get it. Parking on both sides of the building as well as a drive through. Sheridans is a waste of money depending on what you get, or what teen makes it. Last fall we stopped going to sheridans because the malted I bought was very thin and you could poor it out of the cup like milk. Also, we'd found a hair in a cup of ice cream. Last night over six months later we decided to give it another go because I was sure management had changed. Well the malted I got was great but this is a picture of the Royal Turtle which btw was over $5. Bobby's is right up 159 in Maryville and it's always great. IF you don't have time to go there, just skip dessert because this place is a gamble. It is a shame because a year ago I would say this was our go to custard stand. I was extremely disappointed in this place. Our normal spots were closed due to the Memorial Day holiday so we gave this place a try. My scoop of vanilla custard was ok. My husband said his strawberry shortcake sundae was disappointing: too much syrup with stale tasting shortcake. My son got the Mount RushS'more concrete. We immediately noticed a hair in his dessert before we pulled away. I showed it to the girl at the window who showed a person I assumed was the manager. This person didn't address me at ALL and asked the girl "do they want another one?" The girl at the window asked, I said yes and when it was ready they handed it to me without a single apology, offer to give it for free or a coupon for a free item on the next visit...nothing!
