Ice cream haven (the sign says heaven which is a great story if you can get it out of them!) is my boyfriends long time favorite place. We often drive from Collinsville just to go here for ice cream. Their ice cream has more of an ice milk flavor to me rather than the really heavy creamy taste. I think it's more refreshing when it's really hot out. Service is fast and there is a cute little outdoor seating area. We always get some of their packaged twist ice cream to go so we have a supply at home. Asked for m&m in my ice cream. He told me it didn't come with it. Asked for a lid and he gave me a cup with 2 scoops with no lid. Every time I go to this ice cream shop the owner is always not in the mood for customers. If they couldn't do what I wanted then I didn't want to pay for my ice cream but my kids had their scoops already. Rude lady at the counter, short black hair. It was my first time there and I was trying to figure out the sizes and what I wanted to get and my friend told her we were ready. So I told her I wanted the crunchy cones and wasn't sure what size and she shoves a finger down on the paper that was on the counter and says "Sizes right here. You should have saw it when you walked by it." Like would it have hurt her to just simply say "Here are the sizes". She acted like I spent a minute deciding. Only 3 seconds had passed. Nothing special, nothing bad. First time visiting on a Saturday night, steady foot traffic the whole time we were there. Plenty of parking and tables to sit at on the side of the building. Took awhile to look over the menu, many different menus on the outside of the building. Settled on a chocolate dipped soft serve cone for me and a triple scoop Ice Cream waffle cone for the hubby. Both were fine, nothing unusually great, but tasted just fine. I heard this is their last season in this location so we will probably not be back. I wind up here a couple times a week. The ice cream is awesome, and is different from the other local shops by just that little bit that makes them better. My current favorite is still a hot fudge and marshmallow shake, but I have not had anything bad yet. My only two complaints is that it is cash only, which is not so horrible since there is a free atm at the GCS Credit Union down the street; and the guy can seem grumpy. But the grumpiness seems mostly to be over people sitting on the tables... and so far this year he hasn't been bad at all. But this place is definitely a place to try. read more

Cheap and tasty! Been coming here for 14 years and have never had a problem. It's run by a husband-wife team and yes, the husband can be a bit quiet, but he has never been rude to me. His wife is a total sweetheart and more friendly with the customers. The menu is fairly simple but the prices cannot be beat. The "Turtle Pie Sundae" is an entire slice of pie smothered in a huge bowl of ice cream. Price? $3! We can set the entire family up (4 of us) with ice cream for less than $10. The place is cash only, which is probably one way they are able to keep their prices so low. There is outside seating and plenty of parking. read more

We ordered from the grumpy guy at the counter, who was repeatedly impatient with my indecisive toddlers. Once they did make up their minds and I told him their order, he said there was no way they could handle that order. If I'm paying, and that's what they want, then MAKE it! First time here. Kid got a vanilla soft serve and I got a 2 scoop waffle cone. Came out to $5.25. ice cream tastes great. We were helped by the man who was perfectly polite enough for us. They only take cash but for their prices I could probably find enough change in the bottom of my purse for a good snack. There was only one car when we got here so I had low expectations for our visit. I figured in this heat, everywhere would be packed. But while I sit in my car, eating my butter pecan Ice cream, I've probably seen 20 people come and go. This reminds me of a real old school ice cream shop. We'll be back. read more

I agree with the previous poster....the old guy is a class A jerk. I mean, c'mon..it's ice cream! Dont be such a grouch and enjoy the smiles it brings kids on hot summer nights. Besides that,it is decent ice cream for a fair price. Although the orange-vanilla swirl had virtually no orange taste to it.
