Sherman lock is awesome. A couple hardware stores made me duplicates that were total junk. Not only did these guys get it right the first time, but just in case their key didn't work, they told me to come back with the lock and they would keep trying until they got it right. The previous reviewer said "Old school, the real deal. These guys rock." I'd like to improve on that.. but I can't! The guys at Sherman cut me a chipped transponder key for my '08 Ducati motorcycle, which most locksmiths didn't want to touch. It was done in a couple of minutes and worked the first time & every time since. They also cut a couple of new keys from very worn copies -- so worn that previous copy attempts left me with keys that went in the lock but didn't open it. Again, it took only minutes and it's worked flawlessly. The prices were also great -- in fact getting several of those worn keys cut was cheaper than big-box home improvement stores, none of whom could cut a key that actually worked. Bottom line, two of the four keys I had made there didn't work. It's not convenient for me to find a place to park in downtown Waltham so I will won't bother going back to get the keys "fixed". The prices were really good, $10 for four keys and were made within minutes while I played mahjong on my iPad. read more

I needed to get into my home safe after having locked the keys inside accidentally. I had ruined the safe trying to break into it myself. My door key broke and I didn't have a spare copy, so I called Sherman Lock and Key thinking they'd have to come and install a new lock. Instead they told me to bring the old lock to the shop and made new keys for it, which was of course much cheaper. They did the work in less than 20 minutes, too. read more

I had a car with only one remaining key and figured I'd better get some backup copies. However, my original key was so worn out that I often had to jiggle the key in and out before I could get it to turn the lock cylinder. Would the locksmiths be able to make a copy that would work? No problem! The guys at Sherman Lock & Safe used some fancy machine that allowed them to dial in what they believed to be the original depths of the key's notches, and after a few attempts to get it just right . . . success! I now have a key that works like new, and I no longer have to wonder if I'll be able to start my car in the morning! They have a very friendly staff and extremely reasonable pricing compared to other places(mostly hardware stores) that I went to. I've had keys copied there that always work(unlike some other places that I have tried). I have also bought a magnetic hide a key(for the car) and lock box(for tenants) on their recommendation and they have both been very handy. I went there to get some keys made today for 2003 Kia. This is one of the few places around that stocks the keys. They did an excellent job duplicating the key, and the person who helped me was really enjoyable to work. The lock on our patio sliding door broke off and needed a new lock.
