Thoroughly impressed with not just the professionalism but just how NICE the gentleman I just spoke to on the phone was! I called after hours and left a voicemail asking if they can help with a lock & key issue. He returned the call in less than an hour and said he can come by that night and when I started to explain the problem in more depth - he said it was a simple problem and that he could talk me through it. I've never had a vendor patiently teach me how to fix a problem for free. He could've easily charged me an arm and a leg for the trip out here to fix a simple problem. We never need locksmiths in situations that are not stressful, right? Being locked out of somewhere important can be extremely stressful. I recently moved into a new condo and needed my locks changed. I decided to go with a keypad, and after reading positive reviews, decided to give Lior a call. He couldn't have been easier to deal with. He provided fast pricing, and came the next day to install the new lock. The whole installation took about 20 minutes and he was very helpful explaining how the keypad worked. I don't often leave reviews, but our experience with Astro and the locksmith they sent us was above and beyond anything we could've asked for in a service. After the "bomb cyclone" had hit the Boston area with over 12" of snow, my finace and I left our apartment (that evening) and our keys fell out of my pocket at some point. Leaving us stuck in the cold and with no way to get back into our apartment. When we called Astro, without hesitation, one of their locksmiths (I'm forgetting his name) who lived in our area spent 45 minutes shoveling his van out so that he could come and assist us. Not only did we appreciate his efforts, he was just one of the nicest guys and so pleasant throughout the whole process. He was even texting me updates on how much longer it would take to shovel out, had no problem parking blocks away b/c of the snow, and even taught us a few things about locks while he was getting us back into our apartment. Wish I could remember the locksmith's name, but he was awesome. Definitely call these guys if you ever need help with locks. read more

The door knob leading from my kitchen into the garage suddenly locked up and would not turn. I took the door knob off and fiddled with it for a couple of hours and tried to find an online solution. The big problem was that the bolt/latch was fixed in place from the door into where it inserts into the doorframe. So the door could not be opened, and the bolt/latch mechanism could not be removed by me. I called Astro Locksmith and was greeted by Lior. He had me send pictures of the problem. He said he would be over in two hours. When he arrived he went right to work, managing to get the bolt/latch mechanism retracted, opening the door, and then removing all the old hardware. He had a couple of doorknobs available, with one a very close match in color and shape to the other doorknobs in the house. He asked if I wanted to continue to use the same key for all three doors in the house. He then reset the new door knob lock to accept the same key I have always used! Lior was a pleasure to meet and work with. It turns out he is a civil engineer, and obviously extremely bright and well spoken. He was able to describe what the problem was, how it would be repaired and laid out all the charges in advance. Witnessing the skill and speed with which he went about the work, the fee was definitely reasonable. I could not recommend Lior more highly to anyone needing his services as a locksmith. read more

I locked myself out of my apartment at midnight one Saturday evening while I was doing laundry in the basement. Luckily, I had my phone in my back pocket and didn't have to wake the neighbors. I googled Boston Locksmith and found Astro. I called him (and woke him up, none the less!) He was at my apartment in 20 minutes. Before he arrived, I tried to yank the door handle, hoping the lock would give. I ended up pulling the door nob loose. He went the extra mile and fixed my door nob with no extra charge. I locked myself out of my apartment condo with no ID, phone or cash on me. Luckily my sister lives within walking distance but she couldn't find a copy of my keys. Long story short, I called Astro after another local locksmith who was booked recommended them. I called about 7:45pm and spoke with Leroy (hope I have the name right). He quoted me an after hours services fee -- it's not the $15 a lot of 24/7 listings give (then charge much more), but it's reasonable, he's local, and he was recommended. He arranged to meet in front of my building. He was in the neighborhood and I figured I could walk from my sister's house back to mine before he got there. He arrived before I did, believe it or not! One of my neighbors let us in the common front door and the unlock was a simple card swipe and push since my deadbolt was not on. (Lesson for next time, god forbid there is a next time). They only take checks or cash, but he was kind enough to give me a discount. Excellent service, I couldn't have asked for better, other than that they take credit cards. Astro has two addresses, Brookline and Chestnut Hill. I'm listing the Brookline number because that is where they answered on a Monday evening. read more
