    2 tier wedding cake ( 6 and 8 inches)
    Alice M.

We found them on seamless and saw they they do custom wedding cake- however the cake options on the site were too big for a small covid wedding. We called them on Sunday and they were able to deliver a custom cake ( smaller 6/8 inches cake vs the 8/10 inch on the site) on Tuesday. I was a little worried because I wasn't sure how well a 2 tier cake will travel from flushing but the process exceeded expectations! The delivery person was very careful and did a no contact drop off outside our apartment door. It was gorgeous- the red carnations has gold flecks and the ring topper will def go into scrapbook ! We love it!

A friend got the gift box for a new year Eve gathering. The vanilla cream puff tasted old and moldy in some part. I thought it was me but when my husband ate the other half he said the same thing even before I said anything. My husband didn't like the strawberry shortcake slice. I didn't bother trying it. Checking the other reviews, I'm not the first one complaining about cakes tasting off.

Delicious matcha-vanila butter cream cake, soft and elegant. EXCELLENT communication for same-day service. Delivery is good too, just gotta be patient when traffic isn't cooperating! And note that SHERO Cakes moved from Flushing to LIC. Thank you Kelly!!!

I don't really write reviews as I don't have enough time (babies entered my life). But I do have something to say about this "establishment." Completely unprofessional. This business have garnered enough fire in me to write a complaint about. Didn't even have the decency to inform me that she couldn't fulfill my order after she had agreed to make the cake TWO weeks ago. Not only did she waste my time, but now I have to scramble to find another bakery (which isn't too difficult but all parents know that time is precious!) Went back and forth a few times via email two weeks prior to pickup date. I was excited about customizing a bday cake for my 5 year old daughter and had to ASK her about payment after. No invoice, no confirmation of any sort... she didn't even introduce herself until I had to ask who I was talking to! All red flags to me! I'm glad Kelly declined my order as I never want to deal with businesses like this. See pics of email exchanges!

I ordered a cake and cookies for my son's first birthday and they did a wonderful job! They made them exactly how I wanted it and it tasted delicious! It was sweet but not overly sweet, which was perfect for my baby's first taste of sugar. Their handiwork was precise and everyone at the party kept asking for more cookies. I will be coming back for any other custom made cookies and cake I need in the future.

The cake we ordered was beautifully made and very delicious. The sweetness was not overpowering and the different flavors came out very well. The design was beautiful as well. The only thing that i can point out is that the cake toppers are not edible, but at-least for us that was a minor issue. They were very accommodating with our request and the ease of transaction was very well appreciated! Definitely give them a try, you'll not be disappointed.

Made this beautiful cake and sugar cookies for my daughters second birthday. Will definitely order again

I ordered a matcha crepe cake for my sister's birthday and it tasted amazing!! We finished the whole cake in less than 3 days. We had friends deliver us cakes and cupcakes from other bakeries, but honestly, the matcha crepe cake hit the spot better than those other desserts.

I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts. We just came back trying out others pandan layer cakes in Downtown Flushing and this shop beats them by a large margin. I hope to come back more when we could even though this shop is quite a distance for us.

(The first reviews of this place on Yelp are dated 2008). Although the prices aren't as inexpensive as they used to be (Cheap eats in NYC are going the way of the Dodo - might as well get used to it!) I still find they remained consistently delicious. Arguably, the chicken buns are the draw here - with a nice sized slab of juicy dark meat chicken tucked in a crispy outside, soft inside pineapple bun dressed with lettuce, tomato and cucumber it is winning combo. These days you will be hard pressed to find a cheaper and better chicken sandwich at $3.75 in NYC. Better to get here early to make sure they have them, also fresher! I asked for a Iced coffee and the default is light and sweet, which is a style I haven't had in while. It hit the spot. I tried the pork floss bun - it was large and tasty. The sponge cake was nice and soft, but friend remarked perhaps not the very best she's had, but good. They have don tat which will do the job, but not a stand out version. This is old school spot that after I walk out with my purchase I feel grateful it is still sticking around serving up goodness!

Flavor is not too strong and the bread is light! Overall, it is not salty with a tad of mayo/lettuce/cucumber slice. Their $2 pineapple buns are not too sweet/salt either. All of their breads are on the fluffy light side! One time, I found a hair on my bun and the ladies let me exchange for a new one. They also gave me a drink for free in return for the mishap. Their ying yang milk tea (they use lipton) is great too! It is a walk from main st 7 train, but if you are around this area, its a must try for easy/quick snack/small meal!

It took us a while to decide on what to buy partly because we were buying also for our friends. Each time, they seemed genuinely want to help, and made us feel welcome with their smiles and gentle demeanor. For myself, the pistachio muffin was totally satisfying and I confirm they did not slump on the nuts. The crunchy eclair was a BIG hit with our friends, and the rest is kind of a blur but I know we enjoyed everything we tried. We'd go back without hesitation. I hope they keep up the great work.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes. For a modern bakery stop in Flushing, Shakalaka delivers on quality and visual appeal.

I went with the classic and I was very happy with with the version here. I would easily come back just for this. I thought it was great, not too rich or oily and not too sweet. When the food arrived it was piping hot we had to wait a bit before eating the fried foods. The salad was a good portion very satisfying, the cod, shrimp fish & chips was kind of disappointing there was only 3 shrimps and 1 piece of cod with fries buried under them. The fried squid was okay, kind of dry, and a takoyaki was pretty good. We got the English breakfast tea which was pretty standard, we also got the fruit tea which was kind of overwhelming I think the mix of fruits was a bit too much so avoid the Prince Passion Fruit Tea. For dessert we got the matcha ice cream, tiramisu, and the trio combo with the red bean ice cream pate de choux, the green tea financier, and the fruit tart. The fruit tart was very tiny and had a unriped mango on it, the green tea financier was pretty good, and the red bean ice cream pate de choux was okay, I think next time we'll just get 3 of the ice cream pate de choux because it's more worth the value. The tiramisu was kind of bland there was no espresso flavor in it. Overall the staff were very friendly and paid close attention to our table to make sure plates were cleared and took attention to when we wanted anything else. The ambiance is pretty nice, and the decor is cute. But next time we will probably avoid the fish & chips, fruit tart, fruit tea and tiramisu. Our bill came up to $100 for 3 people we probably would have spent about the same amount of money at a restaurant with real food, but it was nice how we were able to get small appetizers.
