I've found that most doctors lately rush through appointments and base their treatments on what is covered by insurance. Dr. Perryman took the time to explain my unique situation in terms I understood. He also is very kind and seemed interested in getting to know me personally. The experience reminded me of the small town doctors of the past. The office staff is super friendly and the space is comfortable. They even have free drinks and snacks which is nice. My insurance would pay for $180, with stipulations for an additional discount if I got 2 pairs of frames with lenses. The space is very clean and modernized, the Staff were all very professional and friendly, and I didn't get their name but the gentleman who performed my actual eye exam did such a good job! He was patient, taking his time, happily answering all my never-ending questions, re-doing and re-doing different lens strengths when I seemed unsure, going above and beyond to let me make sure my vision exam was as accurate as possible! I truly hope he winds up going far whether at Goswick or having his own Optometry practice, as I couldn't believe how much my vision improved with his help in getting an up to date and accurate new prescription! The selection of glasses is great, however I got the feeling they didn't want customers trying on and browsing the frames without being accompanied by Staff, which is understandable as there were maybe 8 other customers and they are high end designer frames. Although I would have loved being able to see and try on different styles, I didn't mind as the female Staff who was managing the floor was incredibly kind and helpful. Business is generally clean and staff is professional but a fair amount of issues over my several…read moreyears there. First off, my prescription hasn't changed for about 5 years and every year I pay 60$ for the right to renew my contacts with nothing more than a question of are my contacts working out ok. I've questioned this fee and what I get for it and their justification is that insurance reimburses part of it which legitimizes it. I've polled friends and many other practices don't charge this while some elect to. Second, I've had issues communicating through email. They at one point told me I could renew contacts through email and then subsequently told me to call. Most recently I got a call back after my appt saying they misquoted a contact fee and needed to bill me an additional 200$. Also an ophthalmologist was in the practice when I was there asking to speak to Goswick who the staff said never was on site and remotes in from New York periodically, given the number of practices locally i don't love that the owner is absentee. All in all, they got the job done and individual staff are nice but their lack of attentional to detail and random fees are major detractors. Will give them another chance since it's convenient but I'd like to feel less like I'm getting Nickel and dimed left and right.

Then you find out later on they just didnt want to do anything nor can give you a reason. Find a provider elsewhere. Laura Sullivan NP and Cody Desouza dont properly take note for your medical care and records. They wasted many years of care for me, I should have left sooner. Find a provider who listens and documents properly so you can have better ease of care when trying to communicate. They mostly want to push useless labs, medications and unnecessary tests to get more billed/money. They dont seem to focus on treatment or what the patient says at all, even after years of expressing and informing them.

I have also shared this same experience via Google reviews. Similar to another reviewer, I had a very negative experience with Mariah Black, a nurse practitioner in the APCC program. Throughout my visits, I felt I was treated more like a customer being dismissed than a patient seeking medical care. I came in for an existing health condition and requested time off from work to focus on recovery. Rather than discussing my symptoms or collaborating on a treatment plan, my request was denied. I was told that I had "plenty of time" to recover and that I should "find another job" if I was uncomfortable going back to work. I found this comment extremely inappropriate, dismissive, and lacking in empathy. At no point did I feel that my concerns were genuinely listened to or taken seriously. Instead, my attempts to explain how my condition was affecting me were repeatedly being brushed aside in favor of her own assumptions and beliefs. Additionally, I expressed that I had financial concerns and could not afford one of her proposed recovery options. At the time, I was reassured that this was understood and would not be an issue. However, I later discovered in the clinical notes that this was documented very differently. The notes stated that I failed to follow the treatment plan, and this was then used as justification for denying me additional time off from work. This contradiction left me feeling backstabbed and left me feeling misrepresented and betrayed. I have been a patient at the Southborough medical practice my entire life, but will now be looking elsewhere for care. I expected compassion, honesty, and collaboration from medical professionals. All of that was entirely absent here. If you are assigned to Mariah Black, please consider my experience when deciding where to seek care. I would not want anyone else to feel as dismissed and unsupported as I did.
