Too bad Sherry is giving up the business, very nicely decorated western themed interior. This is a one and done situation since Sherry's restaurants last night is tonight. We had their soup with the meal, it was a mushroom soup. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and my friend ordered the scallops in butter garlic. The prime rib was medium and I think it was a little brined, but the crust showed no signs of a rock salt encrusted bake so the outside was not browned. My friend had the scallops, they seemed to be poached or boiled in the butter garlic sauce and I think they were frozen scallops because of all the liquid in the dish, certainly the scallops never saw a flat top at all. It was a interesting meal for sure, but we at least got to try this restaurant's closing night in yearington. read more

Walk into Sherry's and you don't get a warm feeling. The seats are outdated and tables have numbers on them as if you're not in a restaurant. The food was not good either, the vegetables seemed way over steamed or canned, the gravy seemed packaged and the mashed potato's seemed watery. The "scampi" fry's were soaked in butter and jarred garlic with kraft Parmesan cheese. As for the steak, don't get it. It was a casino steak! Probably bought in a box individually wrapped and frozen from either u.s. foods or a chef store, and the shrimp scampi was overpriced and made in a butter sauce with the same jarred garlic. The best thing I had was a brownie sundae. Overall it was way too expensive, for me it was 70+ dollars. If you are to eat here I'm sure there would be better food options maybe. Just know that you will eating at a casino diner without the smoke and prices double for the same food quality. Sherry's being one of the few restaurants in Yerington I'm sure hard times have fallen upon you, but with a little work and some changes maybe I'd give you another shot. -from a chef read more

GREAT stop for any traveler passing through Yerington. We were driving home from Burning Man and were very hungry. Decided to stop at Sherry's. The food is of excellent quality, the portions are generous, the waitress was VERY kind and efficient. Even though we were still a bit dusty and I think the locals thought we were a bit odd, the restaurant was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Huge parking lot that makes it easy to turn around even if you're towing. We left smiling, well-fed, and fortified for the rest of our drive. Just eat here, you'll love it. We'll be back! read more

The best French dip in Nevada hands down. As truckers me and my wife eat at a lot of hole in the wall finds but this one by far has the best French dip sandwich in the state. Au jus so good you want to drink it. Not to mention the homemade potato salad. It's to die for. This was the second time that I've eaten there the first time I didn't write review but this time I felt I had to. I'm not quite sure what it is called on the menu but it was a ribeye steak that sat on top of onion rings with mushrooms and blue cheese When they came out with the steak it looked like somebody had just taken a whole bottle of blue cheese and just poured it on there without even re the world blue cheese was very bitter. So I decided to take the whole steak home instead of eating it there so I can take as much blue cheese off of the steak as I possibly could. When I got home the rib eye was full of fat chewy and very disappointing my friend who ordered a different steak item was also disappointed. My family and I decided to try Sherry's Stage Stop and were not disappointed! The margaritas were wonderful (and they don't skimp on the tequila), the malts were large and actually malt-y, the burger was wonderful, and the fettuccine alfredo was one of the best I have ever had! It is hard to find good fettuccine and this definitely surpassed just good! The desserts were also wonderful. The only downfall is the 3% credit card charge, but so many places do that these days and it can be avoided by paying cash. Sooooooooooo.... long story short! Family reunion in Smith Valley (Wellington) and hubs and I decided to check out Yerington! Cute town! I checked Yelp and there was Sherry's. We decided to try it and boy are we glad we did!Cozy little place with a lovely owner Miss Sherry was the life of the party! She was so sweet and pleasant! Along with the chef Coy who came to check on us! You don't get better than this! Hubs has the shrimp feast... the scampi was some of the best sauce I have had! Everything was delicious! I had the Hoss Ribeye! It was so good! Tender and flavor filled! Huge portions but soooooooo good!!!! We took carrot cake to go and it was delicious! This is place is a hidden gem! I read on the website that they want to retire, but I hope they keep cooking for a while longer! If I lived in the Valley I would get a part time job and dust off the college waitressing skills and head over to Sherry's to work! Don't be rude and say service is slow.... Yum chicken fried steak!!! When you order some of the steaks that have sauces, get them on the side. Sherry loads up the sauce. That's a benefit but you should decide how much sauce you wanna put on there. Underneath that sauce is some very delicious steak, whether it be a ribeye, or the New York. Our second trip to Sherry's, we were not dissapointed. The service has been prompt and friendly. We tried 2 appetizers, the parmesan onion rings and fried pickles. Both arrived quickly and were delicious. Chef Coy makes everything from scratch including the chicken fried steak. The chef told us about his amazing prime rib and brought us samples. Coming from Vegas, hungry and tired. I came across this mom and pop restaurant. It was a busy despite coming on a Tuesday. They were very attentive and polite. The chef was apologetic and told us ahead that it would take a little while til' he can attend to us which we did not mind at all. He gave away a complimentary appetizer! It was delish! My sons had kids chicken tenders--which they loved. My eldest had a bacon cheeseburger and said the patty is juicy and tasted fresh. I had the grilled ribeye and it was just like the steak I get from expensive steakhouses in the city! My husband and mom got the 1lb porterhouse for only 20$ with sides! My mother is a food critic but she killed a pound of steak. Yes, we were all hungry! Unbeatable prices, lovely ambiance and superb customer service. They treat you like family! Most delicious homemade food with a small town feel and the sweetest staff. Came in 45 mins till closing and they made us feel at home and no rush. Even after we finished our waitress told us to relax because she knew we had been working all day outside. Seafood delicious, fries amazing, delicious dressing and salad. Late afternoon lunch. Adequate parking. Outside is clean and in good repair with hints of the journey that awaits inside. Inside is clean and in good repair with amazing decorations and fixtures. Sherry is the hostess, waitress, and spiritual advisor. Husband (Coy?) is the chief chef. Sherry is fast, efficient, funny, and has a PhD in sarcasm. Instead of 'star-ratings' menu has "Sherry's Favorite". We heard they serve great barbeque, but it was neither the special nor on the menu. The baked ziti was excellent. "Sherry's Favorite Chicken" is two, four-ounce skinless breasts with mushrooms, cheese, and a sauce. I ordered. The salad was unremarkable. The vegetables were okay. I started to fear rubber chicken. I was wrong. It wasn't just mushrooms. It was fresh baby shiitake mushrooms. The sauce was excellent. The amazing bit was the chicken. It was fresh and marinated in herbs and spices and sauces. The first bite began a stunning taste sensation that didn't stop until the breasts were finished. It was quite possibly the best-flavored chicken breast I've ever had. It was served with a salad or soup, bread, and vegetables or potato, but who cares? The chicken is phenomenal. Sherry was attentive without being intrusive. She kept my glass filled. She asked how we were enjoying our meals. The chef came out and introduced himself. I asked about barbeque? Pay attention: this is Sherry's Secret System. On a recent trip "May 2018" up to the Carson City area we happened to pass through Yerington around lunch time. A quick search on the internet and we decided to give Sherrys a try. I'm glad we did The place wasn't too busy. It was May 24th a Sunday. I know because I made a note of it on Facebook. I'm sure the owner would have preferred it busier, but we prefer it quieter so it suited us just fine. We enjoyed the decor. The place had a layed back homey feel to it. We felt really relaxed there. I can't remember what we had. I'm guessing I had a burger as that's usually my go to meal at somewhere new to me. Apparently we enjoyed our meal because I have good memories of the place. The woman on shift, I'm assuming the owner, chatted with us about our trip. She was very nice. We'd definitely stop here again if we ever find ourselves passing through Yerington. read more
