The shop has some breakfast and lunch offerings as well as a few different baked goods. They also have a clean restroom for customers, as every good coffee shop should. Walker Coffee Company also has a gift store/fly fishing vibe with hats, shirts, cups, and fly fishing equipment. I also noticed a sign for fly fishing guide service. I had to ask if he meant that was the only option before he clarified. No apology or explanation, just minimal communication. He also never asked for my name. After hearing another customer's name called, I asked a different barista how I would know when my drink was ready. While she was answering me perfectly fine, he called over from about five feet away, "Well, we're going to call out your exact drink order. Your drink's not ready." I wasn't asking why my drink wasn't ready. I was asking how I would know which was mine. His response was rude and condescending, especially when his lack of communication created the confusion in the first place. My friend then ordered an iced chai and was given a hot one. He made the excuse that he had ridden a motorcycle for an hour and was having trouble hearing. That made very little sense considering he had just heard and inserted himself into my conversation from five feet away, yet apparently couldn't hear my friend standing directly in front of him. If his hearing was genuinely that impaired, taking customer orders and then using it as an excuse for getting them wrong was extremely frustrating. Our drinks were also subpar, service was slow, and the entire experience felt disorganized and poorly managed. Everyone has bad days, but if that was the issue, he probably should have stayed home or worked making drinks rather than taking orders in such a customer-facing position. Otherwise, he may be better suited stocking shelves overnight at Walmart where customer interaction isn't part of the job. We all left genuinely disappointed and with no desire to return.

While ownership has changed at one point, the bakery has stayed in the family. Locals absolutely depend on this jewel. High Sierra bakery is more than just a shop, but a place where neighbors meet, chat, and feel at home, fostering a sense of connection. Locals also order donuts for their different clubs, acitivities and gatherings. Tourism is also a big part of the bakery clientelle. The bakery has extended hours during peak summer time. It's essential to get to the bakery early during these times to be able to have many variety choices. While the bakery must close for the winter, you can depend on them usually beginning in April into October. It has been a long time, but we have ordered birthday cakes in the past. Everything here is consistent. The apple fritters are a big hit, and I say big hit because they are HUGE. The bakery also has sandwiches on the menu, but I think they are usually not available until after 11. There is plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables outside. Parking is available on the street and it is within walking distance from all local motels.
