Had a wonderful dinner at the Sherwood Inn during our trip to Skaneateles. I had a delicious penne pasta with chicken and andouille sausage after starting with a bowl of tasty French onion soup. My wife's salmon was also delicious and we both loved the warm fresh bread that they serve to start. Shout out to Jamie who took great care of us. The hotel is beautiful... in the heart of the village and overlooking the lake ... established in 1807 as a tavern to be part of a stagecoach business... later converted into a hotel ... a beautiful historic building to stay and dine in. I highly recommend!

Stayed at a Bnb, came to the Sherwood for breakfast. Quick service with immaculate views of the lake, ambiance is set with antique furniture, a fire lit at all times, and historical pictures of the area. Breakfast is great and complementary croissant for hotel guests.

We haven't visited the inn for many years, but with their "Jazz on the Lawn" concert series we just had to. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, but they moved everything indoors and it was almost as good. The live entertainment was "The Hot Club of Syracuse", one of our favorite local bands performing songs from the Great American Songbook, Irish tunes and Romani music, as well as the the great Grapelli and Reinhardt. The menu was varied and tasty. It included shrimp cakes, chilled corn soup, chicken curry and strawberry shortcake. The only flaws were an oversalted soup, and overcooked rice with the curry. Cocktails were good if unremarkable. I was chagrined to find that they don't have a single draft beer available, only cans. Service was friendly and paced well for the evening. We spent about 2.5 hours there, and the bill for two dinners and four drinks came to $200.

I ate here with a large wedding party and really enjoyed the food and drinks! The good. We had 2 servers for about 35 people but they handled it very well and got our orders taken quickly and efficiently. I tried the maple old fashioned which was amazing! For dinner I had the calamari appetizer and the swordfish. The swordfish was cooked nearly perfectly and the au gratin potatoes were very good. My daughter had the sirloin and my other daughter had the open face reuben. Both of them enjoyed their meal and said "5 stars"! The bad. The service was slow. We had 35ish people BUT this was planned well in advance so its not like we caught the restaurantoff guard.. 2 servers was not enough to keep up, though they did a really good job and very extremely pleasant. The food and drinks took quite a while to come out as well. It seemed that most things were coming out for 10-12 people at a time so I don't know if that was the bar and kitchen or the servers (likely the servers). The ugly. The quality of the food and drinks were top notch and deserve 5 stars, the speed of the service was pretty slow and deserves 4 stars. If you're in town and want a quality meal ($30-50 per person), I would definitely check out the Sherwood Inn! 4.5 stars!! (Note: I was too caught up in conversation and didn't realize I hadn't taken any pictures until we were done. My daughter took one of her reuben but that's it, sorry folks!

The food here was so delicious, that pasta was so good! The oysters were topped with this amazing garlic sauce, it was unreal good. I can't say enough about how good the service was. We arrived late and told them we were sorry but we had a reservation, but we were late for it, and they still found us a nice table and they were apologizing to us for us, having to wait for them to find a table for us. We were like oh my gosh thank you so much Please do not apologize to us we were late!! Ambience is great there, very fancy place. I'm so glad they were able to accommodate us. I can't wait to come back and try more!

End of summer dining on the side lawn with music by Qua4tro. Starting to get a little chilly, but a beautiful night to dine al fresco. Had to wait a bit to actually get seated, but once we were the waiter was very accommodating and quite a pleasant young man. The food was amazing! I loved everything!! (see my pics) Done to perfection. Cannot wait to stop in again!

The Sherwood Inn has been around forever! I grew up going there and don't recall how it was all those years ago but I do know that it is a place I love going to at least 1-2 times a week for a cocktail, some wine, or to belly-up to the bar for a casual lunch or dinner. The staff is one of the main draws for me. They're awesome! They all have differing personalities which is a plus. Depending on the mood you're in, you've got someone to talk to or not. ;-) Love this team! The ambiance hasn't changed much in decades and that is fine with me. It's dark, comfortable, and always warm enough. In fact, be VERY prepared in the winter months to sweat your ass off if you're over dressed; more so as the masses start to gather... I run warm so this is just my personal observation but there is also a slightly older crowd that tends to dine here so maybe management has been "encouraged" to pump up the heat. Some exceptional things to eat there will be their burger (outstanding!), the French Onion soup (the best I've ever eaten....anywhere), the scallops that are always perfectly cooked, and seasonal dishes and fish/seafood are always great. I've had kitchen mishaps before here but nothing to complain about in the big picture. If there is an issue, the staff always makes it right. The Sherwood is a classic and part of the very fabric of Skaneateles itself. If you are visiting, this is a must-go-to. Salute!

I'm not sure if customers are able to walk the vineyards because it was raining when we got there. We stopped in for wine tastings - $20 for the preset menus and $25 for selecting your own wines. The tasting includes 4 wines and I thought the pours were generous. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza with hot honey to share and it was delicious. The service at the vineyard is a little strange because we sat in the main room upon entry but were told to go pick up our pizza in a different room. Thankfully they weren't very busy and the sweet lady that poured our wine ended up bringing the pizza over to us. They have 3 or 4 different rooms you can sit in. We chose the main room with both low top and high tops, one room had a fireplace to snuggle up next to in cooler months, and then the outdoor seating where they had live music allowed you to feel the breeze and see some views. The wine was good - our favorite of the day being the Cayuga White so we purchased a bottle to share which is a much better deal than buying by the $12 glass. This is a great place to hangout with friends or go on a date. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon but steady and very enjoyable. We played cards while we sat and drank and it was a wonderful time.

I had the pleasure of returning to Touché for a second visit on Saturday evening, and once again,…read morethe experience was exceptional. It's not uncommon for a new restaurant to impress the first time, only to fall short on subsequent visits. Touché, however, proves to be a welcome exception. Their continued commitment to quality, creativity, and classic French influences remains evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Several days before our reservation, I received a courteous text from the charming and attentive hostess, Bridgette, requesting details about the members of my dining party, including names and dietary restrictions. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by name and seated at a table adorned with a personalized name card--an unnecessary but thoughtful and memorable gesture that set the tone for the evening. I selected the very reasonably priced three‑course prix fixe menu ($70), while the rest of my party opted for the Steak Frites. My starter, a colossal scallop, was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked. While the nettle purée could have used a touch more vibrancy, it still complemented the bright yuzu dressing well. The main course--a perfectly cooked half duck breast accompanied by roasted celeriac purée and a currant‑cassis jus--was a standout. The deep berry notes paired beautifully with the richly rendered duck fat. Although I typically gravitate toward savory dishes, the dessert was an impressive finale: a Sablé Breton with blood orange cream, thyme Chantilly, thyme jam, and a rocher of coffee ice cream. The combination of sweet, salty, and herbaceous elements was wonderfully balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. I was fortunate enough to try a few bites of the Steak Frites, which did not disappoint--nor did it for the other members of my party. Our meals were complemented by excellent cocktails from the well‑stocked bar. The bartender was knowledgeable, skilled, and engaging. The open‑concept kitchen is also a delight to observe, and I look forward to reserving a seat at the chef's table on my next visit. One of the ongoing challenges in the Syracuse dining scene, in my opinion, is a general lack of restraint. Touché distinguishes itself with its thoughtful menu design, technical precision, and appropriate portion sizes. We left feeling thoroughly attended to and perfectly satiated. I sincerely hope Touché continues its pursuit of excellence both in the kitchen and in the dining room. Syracuse needs restaurants of this caliber, and I eagerly anticipate their spring and summer menus.

Another outstanding meal at my favorite syracuse restaurant…read more Enjoyed some time this Friday with special people as we sat and enjoyed an exquisite dining out. I was the only returning patron, the others much enjoyed their first time here. Walking through the front door you're instantly hit with a wonderful smell of food cooking over an open fire. Got a terrific table to look out the window and enjoyed a nice evening view. Took full advantage of every food meal course available. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. Every bite was outstanding. One of us got ice cream for dessert which she said was very good. The ice cream was made right there at the restaurant. We kicked off the dinner with a rum cocktail and a tequila cocktail. All spirits locally sourced. If you haven't tried it here yet you should. You will not be disappointed.

We were promptly seated and ordered glasses of wine while perusing the menu, which is on the smaller side. That usually means everything on it is rather good, so we had high expectations. We started with the Mushroom Toast, Ember Roasted Carrots, and Beef Tartar. I'll start with the bad and finish with the good. The Ember Roasted Carrots were a complete miss. They were trying to go for a middle-eastern flavor, with each ingredient contrasting, while the carrot served as the centerpiece to flavor. I found this to be INCREDIBLY bland. The carrots were not salted enough during roasting and lacked enough char. They dish also needed more labneh than it was served with. It literally just tasted like carrots and yoghurt. Honestly, if I could only give one critique it would be to have used more salt, but this dish was a real disappointment. The Beef Tartar suffered from a similar issue. It was bland. Not enough salt was used. It unfortunately tastes like flat beef. I overheard the bartender talking to another couple and he told them they really want to highlight the ingredients. The idea is purity or something like that. And that's well and good, but you still need to season beef tartar. I don't think this is necessarily a poor execution of the dish(es) rather this is more in line with the philosophy of the kitchen, and that's fine. It's just not for me. And now for the good. The Mushroom Toast was great. It had all the things I had wanted. Fat, salt, umami, freshness. This was a good dish and I would get this again. As for the entrees, my husband and I ordered the Cappelletti and the NY Strip. The Cappelleti was the strongest dish of the night. The flavors were layered and intentional. This was a great dish and I1000% would get it again. My husband ordered the NY Strip along with bone marrow. It was cooked to perfection. Cooking it over a wood fire gave it a great char and almost Smokey flavor. It was very flavorful. The chimichurri made the steak feel lighter than it actually was. My husband loved it and I loved having a bite or two of everything together. This was a complete dish and I'd highly recommend it. The only knock I could give it is the bone marrow. There was a lack of volume in it which is probably due to being cooked over a wood fire. Parts of the bones were also over roasted. I'd skip this the next time and get the foie gras pate. Lastly, for desert we were disappointed that we could not try the rice pudding as they were out of it (we will try it the next time if available). We did however order the Flourless Chocolate Torte to share. It was made perfectly. It was rich and decadent but remained light. It was almost like a mousse, but not quite. We loved it. Overall, the had a great time. There were several highlights and I think they make up for the a couple of the earlier dishes. I'd like to see what else they have to offer when they change their menu.
