It was not busy, but friendly. Music played on the speaker and the game rooms were available. It seems to be a great spot for get togethers and games among friends. I didn't order food but had a Cougar Juice White sangria that was fruity and a little sweeter than I prefer. read more

Who doesn't live a great dive bar. Celebrating my 18 days of Birthday was a great place to wrap up my Birthday tour. I am not sure how I never visited Sherwood before today. The bar is massive with games, tvs and an outside venue. Drinks are delicious and bartenders attentive! read more

Sneaky good place. The window tint will fool you but they're probably open. I had the best time just watching football games and chatting with Doryan. The vibe is chill. You want to play pool? There's a room with tables. The best part of the room? They are separated from the main bar so people won't be crowding your shots. Darts? Same thing! The place is massive but the vibes are exquisite. There's not food during all business hours but I'm going back to try the food truck that's out back. We walked into Sherwoods and was immediately asked for IDs. Mind you, we have been going to this bar since the 90s and I've never been carded here. Nonetheless, I understood and showed my drivers license. No problem. We are all in our mid-forties but go ahead. My cousin has an expired ID and the temporary paper replacement in hand as well. Oh my goodness, I just loooove this bar. The prices are so reasonable. The selection is sufficient. The staff is friendly. It's so clean! The patio is adorable. No points for chicken, as they don't have any. But you can get so affordably drunk that you'll forget all about the poultry deficit. Sherwood's might be the best thing I don't remember about Jacksonville. Whenever my coworkers and I are in Jax, this is the place we go after the office. Some of us have, at various times: gotten so drunk we fell out of a chair, grabbed the behind of a stripper named sugar, played one game of pool for hours because we were too wasted to get a ball into a pocket. SUPER CHEAP DRINKS, pool, darts, a juke box that the patrons don't try to play speed metal on, friendly bartenders, nudey photo hunt. I mean, what more does one look for in a bar? Sherwood's is definitely a hole in the wall bar that would attract some regulars, you wouldn't feel out of place having a beer by yourself at the bar but I recommend bringing your favorite crowd with you. While it doesn't hold the special spot in my heart that St. Nick's does, its hard to argue that Sherwood's isn't one of the better straight up bars that Jacksonville has to offer. Smokey, dimmly lit and packed to the gills, this is place to go when you're serious about your drinking. There isn't a lot to distract you here, a few tv's, pool tables, and an often scruffy [but friendly] crowd--actually there's a lot of fun to be had here now that I think about it. The downside for me is definitely the smoke, which can get a little overpowering when its crowded. Its really not the suffocating, eye burning kind of smoky, but its enough to discourage me when its crowded. That being said, I've had some amazing times here and will probably have many more. If you're looking for the most fun/least pretension ratio in town, Sherwood's is in strong contention to top the list. read more

I ordered a rum and coke here and they really emphasized the rum in their concoction. The service was prompt as I didn't have to wait long for any drink I ordered. Sherwood's has a lot of pool tables, a jukebox, and video games to help break up conversation. However, Sherwood's does allow smoking inside so there was a permanent haze of cigarette smoke along with a smell of mental that pierced the nostrils. Seeing as I am a regular, I might be a bit biased. However, when I can get a stiff drink that does not break the piggy bank, I am a happy customer. The only downside (which my friends consider a plus) is the indoor smoking but that is more preferential. It's nice to be able to walk in any night of the week and see someone I know.
