This has become my go-to shop for all things skincare and beauty. Whenever I need Japanese or Korean skincare, travel-size shampoos and conditioners, makeup, false lashes, press-on nails, or other beauty essentials, this is my one-stop shop. I love that they carry such a wide selection at very reasonable prices, making it easy to stock up without breaking the bank. It's one of those stores where I always end up discovering something new to try. If you haven't checked it out yet, it's definitely worth a visit. They also have another Shibuyala location in Rowland Heights, but I personally prefer the Arcadia location inside the mall. It's well organized, easy to browse, and there's plenty of parking around the mall, which makes shopping even more convenient. Be warned--you'll probably walk out with more than you planned to buy! I didn't realize there was a Shibuyala closer to me but I'm so happy I ran into this place. It's tucked in a corner by the play pen area/escalator so you wouldn't notice it unless you walked past it. This place is has almost everything you could imagine when it comes to Korean and Japanese beauty products. They carry such a large variety of brands. I come here strictly for my spf since it's the only place that still carries Japanese & some Korean spf formulas. I don't wish they would maintain the store better. Many dirty testers, unorganized shelves, price tags not correlating properly with the displayed product, broken shelves with flickering lights it just makes the store feel disorganized and for the prices one pays for products here I would also appreciate it if bags were included with every purchase. When someone spends a lot of money on products and is having to be charged for a bag it's just tacky. Even if it means adding the cost of the bag into the cost of a the products being sold everyone should receive a bag without needing to be charged separately for it as part of the customer service. read more

My friend recently went to this store and experienced a misleading promotion and the store is still refusing to honor its own printed advertisement. Their Black Friday flyer clearly said "Purchase $59 - Get Free Lucky Box." There were no conditions listed, no "after discount," no "single transaction," nothing. But after purchasing $59 worth of items (before their 20% sale), the staff suddenly invented new conditions on the spot -- none of which appear in the advertisement. When asked where these terms were printed, they couldn't point to anything and said "it was obvious." Under California's false advertising law (Bus. & Prof. Code §17500), you cannot enforce undisclosed conditions on a promotional offer. When my friend brought this up, the staff became defensive, refused to provide anything in writing, and insisted the manager "could only discuss it in person or over the phone," which is extremely suspicious behavior for what should be a simple, straightforward promotion. The entire interaction feels dishonest. Instead of correcting the issue, they stalled, evaded, and repeatedly refused written communication. This should tells you everything you need to know. If a store can't honor its own flyer as printed, that's a serious problem. Shoppers deserve transparency, not bait-and-switch tactics. I hope people avoid this location until they learn how to advertise honestly and treat customers with basic professionalism. read more

They didn't have the full shade range and some of the testers are really dried out so I didn't get to test some of the shades. Fun fun fun. The Westfield Arcadia mall is always reinventing itself with new stuff, and Shibuyala is no exception. Allow yourself at least one hour in this store! You'll lose track of time and find everyone mad at you, steaming in the food court. The shop is largely Japanese and Korean hard-to-find cosmetics and skin care, anime stuff, kitchen, car and house stuff (like Daiso or Miniso but more expensive), snacks, and collectible toys including the irrepressible Hello Kitty. Gents, lots of great hair stuff (Gatsby is a favorite) and of course the high-end toners, creams and moisturizers are for all. They have some great body and shower stuff from Japan that puts my OId Spice wash to shame. The ladies working in cosmetics are super informative without upselling. I don't wear make-up but there is a ton of it. Even the bags ($.25) are super fun with mascot dog on them. Grab your Auntie Anne's pretzel and head over! read more

I've come here many times and always spent a lot of money. I loved this place and even earned points every visit. But my last visit was completely different. The lady working there kept watching me and my sister the entire time. It was so irritating and uncomfortable. I don't steal, and it's crazy to feel like I was being treated like I would. I've been a loyal customer for a long time, so being stared at and followed felt disrespectful. I even walked to another aisle just to see if I was imagining it, and not even two seconds later she came around the corner again. We just stared at each other, and I grabbed my sister and left. Finally that corner of the mall is inhabited by a business! I'm kinda sad that the cat café never panned out but I guess makes sense with health regulations and the fact that it was supposed to open but then we got side swept by COVID. Either way, this is a great place to shop! I find its location in the mall hilarious since wives, gfs, and partners are shopping away here and there's a cluster of dude partners hanging out outside or watching over the children over the cesspool of germs indoor playground right in front. Big aside from the review itself but I was massively side eyeing the father who loudly announced to his daughters that, "if he can't read it, then he won't buy it". Kinda racially insensitive in front of your kids and in a store filled with the ethnicities you're targeting my guy, but you do you. Anyways, YES. Definitely one of the stops to make at the mall, especially if you love beauty and skincare goods, imports from Japan, anime or cute character goods, snacks, or even unique household goods. There are other Shibuyala that I've been to, but this is by far the BIGGEST one. For sure there are way more snacks, household goods, cute plushies, anime, and character merchandise items, and stuff for pets here than at the other locations. As for things that I haven't seen before, it looks like they have a more high-end skincare/beauty consulting table towards the back and a section for Kuji prizes (buy a raffle ticket for a prize varying in rarity) and token gacha machines. Not going to lie, that's pretty neat and there has been a rise in these gacha shopping experiences in the normie/casual-sphere so they know what's up. I like the big selection that they have for home goods and cleaning supplies for sure and I do appreciate the affordability and availability of lots of the sunscreen and beauty products that I already use. I think the drinks in the back would be more appealing if they were refrigerated so I do hope that they get a fridge in the store for that as well. It is extra to get a bag upon checking out, but the designs are SUPER cute so I think it's worth it for sure. My favorite Shibuyala location to date. read more

I am feeling post-event withdrawals from traveling to Japan two weeks ago, and I've put off coming to any Shibuyala location in SoCal for many years. With the confluence of these two factors, this was a kickass first visit. Just go find the JC Penney, a mediocre landmark, within Santa Anita Mall. Immediately to the left from the inside entrance lies this new Shibuyala. Even with throngs of people hanging around, it didn't feel as claustrophobic as many merch stores I was dragged along to in Akihabara. I am pretty grateful for that. Also, the clientele is mostly femme, which, let's face it: after being followed around by a shamelessly masturbating pervert in a Donkihote in Ueno during my trip, is kind of necessary for feeling safe. Just for a little while longer. That shit was fucking heinous and did a number on my mental health and feeling of security. Here, the staff is actually present on the floor, which I highly approve of in contrast to the terrifying loneliness I endured. I was delighted to note that they still had plenty of seasonal Sakura themed products in stock! Other brands that caught my eye were Paul's Blend for the new Marigold scented stuff, plus Kitkats I haven't seen in any other Japanese import retailer. Note: for those unfortunate lactose-intolerants who have used and abused Lactaid and drugstore generic equivalents to the point that they don't work anymore, Shibuyala carries Biolactase/Biofermin! Try out a small box before committing to the 540 tablet bottles. It might lend you some freedoms again. Unfortunately the prices are noticeably higher than many products would be in Japan, probably due to the shipping expenses involved. It makes sense, but it's still about a dollar or three higher than other cosmetics stores for the exact same mascara or falsies, for example. Still, I'd go back to restock on my lactase tablets and poke around at the seasonal limited edition products any time! read more

I've been to several other stores that sell Korean beauty products, and this one has the best prices by far. They also have a great selection. So sad to write this review because usually I love this store, however today I had an awful experience with some of the employees. There was a tall pink hair girl that kept following my friend and I, we circled the entire store and somehow she was the employee that was always on us. We were also followed by another girl with what seems like brown? yellow? orange? hair. These two colorful heads followed us around the whole store, the yellow/brown haired one was straight up staring us down. We are POC so yes, it did feel targeted. I find this experience really unfortunate because I am a loyal customer, I even had enough points to get a free item today but I just wasn't in the mood due to that unfortunate experience. They have everything here from Kbeauty to Housecare. But what I love most is their Japanese skincare. Personally my favorites are HadaLabo Premium Skin Lotion and the Skinaqua SPF 50 both under 20 dollars. you can't beat the prices! All the best sunscreens and products are here, for real. I want to take my family who live 50 minutes away! I've been looking for a purple primer (to offset the sallow skin that came from years of sleep deprivation and stress of having 3 kids starting at the age of 35) for a long time. I went to Sephora and they helped me look through Makeup Forever and other brands but many have been discontinued. I went to Macys but the Lancome purple prime was too pink o compared to my go to albeit pricey suhwahsoo. I went to smash box. They only had the green, the pink and yellow. I went to Estée Lauder they didn't have it. I did go to clarins and the attendant did give me the tip to go online to get some of the older SOS stuff ($40), as the newer ones do not have the purple. She said a lot of purples have been discontinued by US brands because not enough people knew how to use it but the people that do know go around looking for them. Clarins $40 was still a little bit more expensive, plus just to order online and not sure if I can return it after I try it. I was trying to find something in the $30 range (the Suhwahoo was $50) that I can try out on my skin. Finally by chance I came to this store because they had very bright colored cute stuff in the window. Could there be something I've been missing out that the masses have been getting here? I asked the attendant if they had a purple primer. They introduced me to Bao Bao, who would know about their makeup. She introduced me the Sister company of Sheseido, Maquill. Kaboom! It's not as dry as the old Biotherm CC purple that has been discontinued for a few years now plus it has a 50 spa sunscreen protection and only $31. Yesss! This is as good as it gets. My kids didn't know what it is about, but they had fun especially my child got the special prize. They are very happy for their 1st experience at the store. I bought some items there. The hand soap is over priced but i haven't seen it elsewhere. Other items I bought are reasonable priced. For the lucky draw, you have to walk to the cashisher located toward the inner corner. I came in for the kuromi ichiban kuji today. I drew/won prize 12 which was suppose to be a purple kuromi bag. An employee made a mistake and gave the wrong prize away. I was stuck with the short end of the stick getting a different prize (prize 13 - black kuromi bag). I should have been given an option of a refund or pick a different ticket and get my actual prize. This is the whole point of the ichiban kuji game. In the past 30 days, I've purchased over 50 ichiban kuji tickets from this store. An employee mistake should not be on a regular customer that shops at the store on a weekly basis. BE AWARE: YOU MIGHT NOT GET YOUR ACTUAL ICHIBAN KUJI PRIZE (NUMBERED PRIZE). It's really the principle of the game and it's not even about the money. I can say I'm not coming back to this store.
