I had a disappointing experience at Ulta. The cashier, Stephanie, was not very helpful and made me feel uncomfortable. When I had questions about using the app and my rewards, she looked at me as if I should already know how everything works. As a 50-year-old woman, I don't always feel confident navigating technology, and a little patience would have gone a long way. I had the app open and showed her my coupons, but she didn't offer to apply them. I had to insist on using both my points and my coupons. Throughout the transaction, she seemed irritated and unhappy to assist me. I enjoy shopping at Ulta and appreciate the rewards program, but customer service should feel welcoming and supportive, especially when customers need a little help. read more

TERRIBLE customer service! I purchased over $160 of products from Ulta in the Eastland shopping center (close to my work). When I got home, I tried on a lipstick. I Didn't like it and planned to return it. I opened the blush and it was empty! There was a blush container but there was no product in it. My guess is someone did a switch at the store. I considered returning them tomorrow, but given the bizarre situation, I went to the Monrovia store closer to home. Both Sabrina (cashier) and Stephanie the "manager" refused to refund me. I showed my receipt which was dated today within the hour. I live closer to Ulta Monrovia so I came to them. They were snide and refused to help. Despite Ulta's policy being a refund in 30 days or exchange in 60 days. I left and called the Eastland store. Alexis helped me over the phone. They Confirmed my receipt info and put me on hold to call the Monrovia store. After Alexis' call, I was able to walk back into the Monrovia store and get my refund as was originally my right to do. As I walked in the "manager" Stephanie passed me. She made no apology for the misunderstanding or even acknowledged me--rude. 1. Always check your product before l leaving the store. 2. Don't go to the Monrovia location. As a side note, I also returned the lipstick/pencil combo. NEVER did Sabrina or the manager open it to see if it was intact or even in the box! Had I not said anything about the blush being empty, they probably would have not checked that box either. Horrible business practice and even worse customer service! read more

The one star is for the ulta salon. They should really have a feature where the hairstylists can leave pictures of their work and where their customers can review their experience. So I'll leave it here. I would not recommend Ellie H. for a haircut. She had me waiting over 30 minutes while she finished helping someone else out even though I had an appointment. I asked for layers and I was left with one chunk of my hair significantly shorter than the other, with no blending. I asked for face framing pieces and she gave me one blunt cut on one side and left a face framing piece on the other. At the end of my appointment she didn't show me the back of my head. At least I was able to get a refund but this is just a PSA for anyone thinking about booking her for a simple haircut. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews but after multiple bad experiences at this Ulta I've realized they are not isolated incidents but a reflection of the store as a whole. The employees have their phones out on the floor and actively text instead of help customers. I was there Thursday night and all the employees were huddled up in the front by the cashier having a private conversation - not work related because I could hear the whole thing while looking at the sale items- and it took them several minutes to acknowledge me and ask if I needed help. When they all finally scattered away the cashier was nice but I left without purchasing everything I came for. I spent about $15 instead of $135 because they were so rude. This is the worse Ulta I have ever been to. Very rude employees! read more

I went to the salon for a simple wet haircut, but they told me I'd be charged extra because I have "textured" hair. I would understand if I were getting a specialized curly cut or seeing a stylist who specializes in cutting curly hair. However, charging extra just because my hair is wavy--like 2C wavy--feels unreasonable. It sends the message that the salon isn't inclusive of different hair types and textures, making clients with anything other than straight hair feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed. A truly inclusive salon should celebrate and accommodate all hair types without penalizing clients for having natural waves. Me: I don't want a curly cut--I just want my hair cut while wet. It's wavy, but it's straight when wet. Salon: It's still extra... Me: So if I'm paying extra, does that mean the stylist is a curly hair expert? I hardly have any eyebrows and because of that she recommended getting microblading.But we gave the laminate,tinting,waxing a try and what an improvement! I visited this store for a return of a product I purchased online. However, the cashier asked me to enter my phone number before they start. I checked online as a guest and have a receipt with me, showing clearly my order no., address, name and phone number. The cashier said they can't find my order because I'm not their loyalty member. Hello? ULTA never says an order will disappear if I guest check out online. I requested the cashier ask a manager to help, she don't want at first and then I insisted. A manager called Ricky came but first thing is blaming my voice too high. Thats very funny because I'm using my regular voice and no one put a sign there this is a library. Anyway I told him the issue, he took a century to figure out how to return my order. Thanks god this is literally the most dumb store I have visited for a decade. If you're Hispanic do not go to the store in Monrovia. I was targeted for suspicion of being in kahoots with someone who stole based on my ethnicity. The manager called the cops and said I was with the thief. The cops went along with Theresa (the manager) and held me, questioning me outside the store while passersby's were staring, I felt humiliated and embarrassed. It could've hurt my career if I was taken into custody over false allegations. I am filing a complaint and seeking legal action. Went in today to purchase a few Mac products and the sign said under the Mac Stack Mascaras, free Mac stack with $50.00 Mac purchase. There is a tiny star that says while supplies last. Well I'm at register spend $80.00 on Mac and purchased some tarte products. I pay, the girl hands me my bag. Then I asked, do I get the Mac free gift? The cashier looks at me like a deer in headlights and says, "oh does the sign say free gift or something?" First off, she is the employee - Management get your staff to know what promotions are what. I had a good service with Wendy but I had to express some frustrations with my experience. I had booked a hair and makeup service. Unfortunately, my hair appointment was canceled due to a call-in. I got a call notifying me of the cancellation, they were not able to find me a different appointment at that location. I wish I would have gotten assistance in finding an appointment at a different location, but I was left to scramble. Luckily, I managed to get an appointment at the West Covina location, but it made for a stressful morning. My service for makeup at this location however was great. read more

I recently had my makeup done for engagement photos by Jessica G. It was a great experience! I'm pretty clueless when it comes to makeup, I didn't even know what I wanted! I contacted Ulta consumer service and made a complaint within 3 days I received a called from Brittany the District Manager made her aware of my experience and also the Ricky the manager who is also very unprofessional. I did encourage Brittany to read all the yelp reviews not just mine. I returned everything I purchased at the same Ulta store in Monrovia so the store can see the money loss. After returning the items i was told I would get an email, I left. I later received an email however one item was missing $65. I called the store and first they said I didn't return them but I know I did so they reviewed the camera and I asked I come back, ughhh. I go back to get the remainder $65 and the associate tried to blame me for her missing the item when I clearly handed her the Ulta bag with all the items. Girl byeeee! So make sure you check your receipts and do not allow these people to put blame for their mistakes. I encourage you to contact customer service and file a complaint if needed. Still a zero star for Ulta in Monrovia. But a 5 star for the District Manager Brittany who's on it and very professional. read more

This Ulta Beauty store is newly opened and located in the same plaza as Aldi, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Michael's. There is a large parking lot so parking shouldn't be a problem. I came by this store with my husband this past Tuesday around 7:20 pm, looking for a red lip liner to achieve a particular look for Halloween next week. With Ulta Beauty, the store itself can be rather confusing since signs are not very large to find things. I am not a frequent shopper of Ulta and so I always find it rather confusing to find things because of the layout. Anyways, upon entering the store, no employee greeted me or acknowledged me. And as I walked around the store, I saw numerous of employees standing around and just talking among themselves. When I approached an employee and asked where I could find the lip liners, she just pointed in a general direction instead of walking me over to that area and then just kept on talking to the other employee (clearly I was interrupting her conversation...). Well as I was heading towards the area the employee pointed to, I ended up finding the lip liner area in the opposite direction (good thing I walked over to this area first). I ended up picking up a Korean branded eye concealer and then headed towards the check out. It was here that the employee behind the counter was very friendly (wished she was out on the floor when I needed assistance earlier) and asked me if I had tried the brand of lip liner that I had before. I told her that I had not and she told me that she really loves it. After giving her my phone number that is linked to my rewards points (which is free and easy to sign up by the way) and paying for my items, I was on my way. It doesn't take much to help customers and assist in finding things in the store, especially if that is your job. I was rather disappointed by the lack of service provided by the 1 employee I asked (the other 2 employees she was talking to weren't any better since they just stood there and did nothing). I think management should retrain their employees in customer service (and remind them this is why their hired...). read more

Went 2 years ago and have never gone back and will NEVER go back. Supervisor at the time was rude, unprofessional, and lectured me in front of a line of customers. The cashier helping me was obviously new and did not know much, messed up my returns and purchases and I ended up with a credit instead of getting my money back. And instead of the supervisor resolving the issues and apologizing for the MISTAKES her employee made, she blamed the mistakes on me and humiliated me in front of other customers. Hello Was in a week ago to get a Keratin hair treatment was the worst experience of my life! This person who said she had experience in Keratin treatments was so not true. I got to the store and to my surprise after watching and keeping an eye on everything after a 1/2 hr of observing what she was doing, was totally in shock! This senior stylist was reading the instructions as to how to do a keratin treatment with her assistant on the coloring table of the solon.
