They were very rude and they didn't do what they promised when I was there. I was waiting for them to e-mail or call me with my test results, but nothing happened. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO HER. I read raving reviews and convinced myself I made a good choice and she'd look after my health and ignored the bad reviews. That was my mistake. I take Adderall and she was trying to charge me $30 to just go in the office each month, and grab the script to take down to the pharmacy to fill. They called it a "consult" fee which, is ridiculous because there was no "consulting" whatsoever. I needed my medication so I walked in the office, after 2 minutes I was out and $30 short. Which by the way, she wrote for the WRONG MG. We discussed going to 20 MG and she wrote it for 10mg. My fault for not even really looking at the script when I showed up to the pharmacy because I was so irate. I filed a claim with my insurance and after a month, they kindly refunded me the $30. My pharmacist AND insurance was even asking why can't she send the script in electronically? I asked that question to the front desk when I called them at Dr Saams and she said it's illegal. Which in CA law, it's not. I kept saying it's not illegal. She said well the pharmacy always denies these escripts so we never do them. So No one was willing to help in that office. I was constantly met with condescending tone, interuption, and passing me back to "ask the dr and i'll call you back" because clearly, they're okay with ripping their customers off. I was really taken aback my how I was spoken to. I wasn't yelling or cursing them out as I understand always being in customer service, you just gotta keep your calm. lol. Any Doctor i've seen in the past, has NEVER charged me to walk in and be handed a script. They've either sent it electronically or I've come in, and they just handed it to me. Noooo problem whatsoever. The one positive out of this was the sweet dr assistant was always super nice and friendly. She did my pap and went over my meds. Cutest thing with a big smile! So i'm thankful for her that she made it atleast pleasant for me while I saw her. Sorry for the rant - but because the medication is something I really need to function, I couldn't bare to run out. I had to switch drs immediately. I hope people really take heed of these warnings about her practice. Because they're in it for the money and ready to write you a script for something without hearing your full symptoms. read more

What would you do if you found yourself needing to see your primary care physician, and they refused to see you? Not just refused to see you that day... but ever!?That is the predicament I found myself in two days ago. Dr. Saam approved me as a new patient, and was assigned as my primary care physician a few months ago when I changed insurance companies. However since then I have had no reason to go to the doctor. That changed last Thursday when I found myself in need of medical care. So I called my new doctors office, somewhat excited to check it out as I had heard such great things. When I called to make my appointment I was helped (I use that term very loosely) by a woman named Stephanie. She asked if I had ever been seen before and what my insurance was. Then our conversation went something like this - Stephanie: we aren't accepting new patients we can't see you Me: well I'm not exactly a brand new patient, Dr. Saam was assigned as my primary care physician a few months ago. You guys approved me and I was added I just haven't come in yet. Stephanie: Well we won't see you. We won't see any new patients from your insurance wether you're assigned to us or not. Me: But.... this is my doctor. I can't go see anyone else, I'm assigned to you guys. What am I supposed to do? Stephanie: Even if we would see you, which we won't, it's a two week wait for any new patient. So I suggest you go the the emergency room or urgent care. Me: But this isn't an emergency, I have a small infant at home and I don't want to risk being exposed to a bunch of very sick people at the ER. But you just won't see me, even if I wait the two weeks? Even if I waited two months?? Stephanie: No. We won't see you today, we won't see you two weeks from today, we won't see you two months from today. Sounds like a pretty great experience right??? Pretty great indeed. I called my insurance company and was assured that this was a HUGE breech of contract on this doctors office's part, and I filed a complaint. I intend to do research and file more complaints, as being refused medical care EVER by your own doctor when you need it seems very very wrong to me. I'm currently in the process of being assigned to a new doctor, but that takes time. So due to the epically shady practices of this office I am currently unable to see a doctor unless I go to an ER or urgent care as suggested. I've honestly never felt so helpless or unsure of what I should do with a medical situation before this phone call. All I can say in conclusion is, Stephanie if you ever read this - I hope one day you find yourself in my position, in need of help and having the place that is supposed to provide that help treating you EXACTLY the way you treated me. I am still so angry about how I was treated I will file a complaint against this office/doctor everywhere I possibly can, to anyone that will listen to me. What you guys are doing is wrong, you cannot allow someone to be assigned to your medical care than deny them treatment. I plan on making sure everyone knows what you guys are doing. read more

I had great experience with Dr Saam. She is my primary Doctor for the past 3 or 4 years. Very easy to talk to. Her staff at Irvine office are super nice and helpful and I never had any problems. I was once disappointed because I wanted to see Dr Saam and I was visited by her NP. I just don't like that because non-one told me that ahead of time. I don't recommend this doctor because although she's Pleasant and I'm sure she's very smart, it seems like she has her physician's assistant do everything. so you never actually get to see her. And the staff will also call you with blood tests results and Report hazardous false information since they are not MDs. So I don't recommend this doctor at all because I think she likes to collect paychecks but I don't think she likes to work. read more

She doesn't know how to diagnose people. I'd give her no stars if I could. Someone I know went in and he had obvious signs of a heart attack and what did the so called doctor do? She did nothing and she couldn't even diagnose simple symptoms of an oncoming heart attack. She told him he was okay and to do some tests. Long story short he passed away a couple days after his appointment because this fake Doctor didn't know how to do her job and she's probably done this to other people too. I don't know who she bought her doctorate from but she needs to step down because someone who can't help diagnose people should not be a doctor for obvious reasons. read more

I must say I'm disappointed! How unprofessional can a doctor be?! I called a couple time in regards to my sick mother and told the receptionist how urgent it is for Dr. Saam to call us back. I went to Dr. Saam to have my arm examined, I have radiating pain down my left arm, I also was there for a referral for an MRI ( I have a brain tumor). Her staff member argued about how I needed 100% medical coverage to see the Dr. instead of paying the remainder out of pocket like normal. The Dr. did not even look at my arm or do any type of normal examination. The Dr. gets my MRI results, but has not yet received my medical reports from UCI which I signed a release form for. Dr. Saam states she sent in the request but never received them, UCI states they never received the order. I call Dr. Saam back and her staff states that they resent the order. Days go by I call again to get an update her staff member states that they received my medical reports from UCI and the Dr. needs to go over them then they will make an appointment for me to go over this MRI compared to my last MRI. Over a week goes by when I call again for another update. I am told that they are still waiting for my medical reports from UCI. Never in my life have I ever encountered suck blatant misleading and unprofessionalism from a Physician. read more

I've been visiting her for about a year now and each time I come she takes her time with me and makes sure each concern is addressed. I am suffering from a terminal illness with many complications. I have overall 30 specialists with over 100 medications. I google search the best primary care doctor in Orange County and Dr. Saam had the most 5 stars rating. I need a very strong educated and experience Hoag doctor so I decided to choose her as my new primary care. Last week was my first experience going to Dr. Saam's office. I felt very welcome right from the beginning. The nurse assistant and all staff members were very friendly and pretty. I met Dr. Saam exiting her office because she had to visit a dying patient from covid in the ER. Already I had a good impression of her knowing she is such a caring doctor towards her patient. She went over and introduced herself with a smile and shook my hand. She told me she will take care of me and her Physician Assistant will examine me for that day and order some lab work. She will then see me in a few weeks once she has the results. I told her I am a very severe case and have many problems. That I urgently need all my referral to specialist requests and medication that I need prescribed that day. And if I can just tell her about my medical condition. Dr. Saam without any hesitation took me right into her office, listen to my heart , read all my medical paperwork, and told me its not a problem and she can accommodate all my requests. Dr. Saam also assure me that she or her Physician assistant will take care of all my requests that day. Which they did and even went over my expectations of prescribing extra medicine that I need to treat my condition that no other doctors I have seen did. She is such an amazing doctor. The Physician Assistant was also very young, attractive, extremely knowledgable, and understanding. Dr. Saam and her PA made me felt very comfortable and gave me all the medications I need and all the referrals I urgently requested. I have went to many other primary care doctors, just being disappointed at the end that they were not happy taking care of me since I am a high maintenance patient that require a high level of care that their offices were not able to accommodate. Those doctors even had to go home after seeing me and had a migraine headache. Well not with Dr. Saam and her dedicated team. She, her PA, and all her nurse assistants had a smile throughout their entire time helping me even towards the end. It was like no sweat to them. Dr. Saam truly deserve the 5 stars rating and is the best primary care physician in OC. I highly recommend my friends and family members to her. read more

I have since changed my doctor and I can't believe I tried sticking around this one (for convenience sake) as long as I did. An all around awful experience with this doctor. Patients feel like customers rather than people here. It's a business, not a care. I had to call repeatedly in order to get an appointment, almost always weeks out even if I stated it was an emergency. Her staff once told me I should keep calling to check if there were cancellations. I've worked at a doctor's office and if someone had an emergency, I'd either talk to the doctor and make sure to somehow fit this person in (be it during our lunch break or have the doctor stay in longer) or I'd at least have their name nearby and check for cancellations so I could call immediately. I remember practically begging for an appointment after an injury and the girl on the other end told me I couldn't be seen for at least another 2-3 weeks. Mind you I had already mentioned (and repeated it once she said this) that this was an emergency. She apologized and said there was nothing she could do. I ended up going to the emergency room. This doctor rarely sends her patients to specialists even if they're absolutely necessary. I've had to go over her head and contact my insurance for help getting a specialist I needed. And even then she filled out my information incorrectly thus leading to an initial denial (and more time wasted where I could be getting medical attention). There were many times that the doctor would forget or misread my information, and I remember very clearly being told from my PCP that they had sent my prescription to my pharmacy, going there to pick up only to have been told they hadn't received anything from my doctor. On several occasions, I always always felt as if I was being talked down to and any questions I would raise were often responded to in a manner that made me feel as if I shouldn't ask anymore. Just overall not someone I want to trust with my health. I've since switched over to another doctor. read more

Dr. Shida Saam is awesome. I just barely moved heaven and earth to get back to her. She has helped me through so many weird scenarios. She cares about me and totally remembers who I am even though I only visit her a few times a year. She is super-encouraging in so many aspects of my life. So her staff once lost a prescription of mine once but they figured it out within 30 minutes. I was forced to change doctors because of my new insurance plan and let me tell you what, my new doctor's office was so much more poorly managed that we switched insurance providers so I could come back as a happy camper to Shida Saam's office. read more
