I had my windows tinted 9 times now with Shield X (different vehicles) over the past years. The last time prior to this recent experience was earlier this year in January to have my brand new vehicle tinted. I wouldn't go anywhere else with my new vehicle. I have a panoramic roof, and I decided not to have it tinted at the time since I had the manufacturer's tint (which really isn't much, it's just colored film rather than tint). The car also has an automated blind cover that I rarely open due to the UV rays/heat exposure. The rest of my windows were tinted with their ceramic tint, so the cabin is relatively cool. However, since my panoramic roof wasn't tinted, and it is now summer, cabin gets so hot and the back seat passengers usually feel the heat during the drive. SO, I came by to have my panoramic roof tinted with 5% ceramic tint (darkest). They get so busy during the summer time, and they were so accommodating to fit me in, and had the work done in a reasonable time, same day. Competitive pricing too! I love that I have this tinted now as I don't feet the heat, and cabin feels nice and cool! Love it! Love their work, as it is of good quality. Updated Review Per the shop's recommendation, I took my vehicle to Tesla for a full inspection of the windshield. After evaluating it, Tesla confirmed that the lines in the glass were caused by external forces -- most likely excessive heat -- and not by any manufacturing defect. They were very clear that there is no scenario where the vehicle would have left the factory with this type of damage. Because of that, the replacement was not covered under warranty, and I had to pay $1,535 out of pocket. Here's what this experience has cost me: * $300 for the original tint * $150 for tint removal -- which I was never informed would be charged, and they only told me I "owed money" after removing it * $1,535 for a new windshield due to damage caused during their tint installation That's almost $2,000 lost, and I'm left with no tint, a brand‑new windshield I had to pay for myself, and zero accountability from the shop. To make matters worse, the owner laughed at my wife during the conversation. That alone tells you everything about the level of professionalism you can expect. If you choose to get your tint done here, understand this clearly: If something goes wrong, you will get no support, no responsibility, and possibly even disrespect. What you may get is a bill for the damage they caused. read more

Shield X had the best price for a windshield chip repair. I drove over & it was repaired while I waited. I have not had a chip repair done before but I was disappointed it is still visible & unsightly. Fortunately it is above my eyeline so not in my field of view while driving. Hopefully the repair will stop any cracks from developing. But next time I will try a windshield repair specialist even if it cost ~$30 more. read more

Just got a brand new windshield from Shield X! I was recommended to this place and went with them because of their pricing being perfect for my budget. Called ahead to have them order and they had the windshield less available to install less then a week. I arrived with no approximate appointment time. They told me to arrive sometime in the morning. Which I arrived around 9:45ish the taken back for service immediately. Great service and only took an hour. So fast and excellent service!!. The gentlemen of Shied X are always respectful. Although it is convenient for me being x2 doors away from Excel JiuJitsu (my extended family), Shield X product quality is also top notch. We discussed the different SunTek options: Classic Composition, High Performance, and Ceramic. There's also this model to help demonstrate UV penetration for each. I chose ceramic since my goal is to limit how much heat I can feel from sun-rays. 3 cars so far. I'm sure I'll be bringing my next vehicle back to them. Highly recommended. read more

The owner explained it all to me and made it right. Terrible experience and zero communication once they had my money. I found them through a Yelp service request and they responded quickly. First red flag: the quote they gave me came in well under what they actually charged. They said I told them it was a Model S. I don't think I did, but either way, I get that glass for an X costs more. Then they insisted I pay my Geico deductible up front, before anything else. And they blew up my phone -- several calls a day until they got that payment. I couldn't always answer because I'm on conference calls and I get a ton of spam calls anyway. It felt weird, but fine, I figured paying first was no big deal. They gave me the option of Zelle or credit card. I used a credit card. Always do. Thank goodness. Glass comes in, they tell me they're ready for me. I asked for the address so I'd know I was going to the right place -- and that's when they told me I'd have to drive to Temecula. 51 minutes away. Nobody mentioned that at any point. I told them no, I'm not driving out there with a cracked windshield, sitting around for three hours, and then driving home in that traffic. They said that's all they could do. No alternative, nothing offered. So I asked for a refund. And that's when they went silent. No calls, no texts, no replies. They said someone would reach out to resolve it. Still waiting. Funny how they had all the time in the world to chase me down when they wanted my money, and none at all when it's time to give it back. Recently went in to get my windows tinted for my 2008 Nissan Frontier, and i have prior knowledge with tinting so i know what is good and what is bad, so i did some research in the oceanside area for local tint shops with the best quality film and warranty along with price, i called shield-x 2nd and i talked to a guy named lee and he told me about the film,warranty, and price and i scheduled an appointment for the same day because they obviously knew what they were talking about! I came in later that day for my appointment and the first things i noticed were is the shop looked like a REAL DEAL tint shop, the employees were very nice and informative telling me my car would be done in between 1-3 hours so i dropped the car off and said call me when its done, they called me 1 hour an a half later so it was alot faster then i expected and i am very pleased with this QUALITY shop! Overal the tint job looked AWESOME with absolutly nothing wrong except a suburb tint job.. I'm long time costumer to this company. I am amazed and shocked how good they do because that's what they been doing it for long time. It takes time to earn trust that they will not fool me by playing games. As I recall my very first time. I wanted to tint my windows because the car had no tint what so ever and since here during in summer gets warm and hot, so you need something to block and keep cool inside your car. So I was driving by and decided. "Why not give it a shot here and see how legit they are?". So I stopped and asked for price. The price they quoted me was very funny at first (amazing price) so we agreed on it. I waited maybe 35 min or so to get my whole car windows tinted. When I saw the results, I was amazed by it. do not use shield x the company has been sold to foreigners who barley speak english and have no liscenced installers the automotive replacement glass industry is highly regulated by federal motor vehicle saftey standards the windshield is the structural integrity of your car the airbags rely on the windshield to properly protect the occupants in the car if the windshield is not correctly installed ( can be something as simple as one missed step) then upon impact in a collision the airbags will launch the windshield 200 feet away from the car and the occupants could follow it is for that reason that all auto glass installers should be certified as a proffessional in the trade there are too many reasons this should be left to proffessionals and not just people trying to make a quick buck your saftey is paramount and unskilled and unliscenced companies like this need to go away read more

Its hard to find time to go get something like this done with a busy schedule. Today i was off a little early so i took advantage of the opportunity. I did a little bit of research last night found a place, but what I didn't see was that they were closed Mondays. Disappointed I pulled out my phone and did another search and i found Shield-x. I took a drive there and as i walked in I was greeted by a friendly staff. Being a walk in, I was surprised they were able to get to me the same day, but they did. They explained that there were some cars ahead of me and would be able to get to me soon. They got the job done quickly and i am impressed with the work. A tint place you can trust! For weeks I was trying to find the right place to get my Mini cooper tinted. After numerous outrageous quotes and shady car stereo tint installers (almost all claimed to use premium film, but never had what the said in stock) I found Shield-x. Not only are they honorable and trustworthy, but the quality of their work is OUTSTANDING! They only use Suntek window film, (which includes a lifetime warranty card) so you know you're getting quality film. On top of everything else, their customer service is top notch, every question or concern was resolved. Very friendly and helpful people, nice little building they have as well. He explained the warranty for my ceramic tint well and gave me a warranty card with the tint. Well priced when compared to most of the other tint places in the area. They also have a little waiting areas with a tv and cold/hot water. My only recommendation would be to add a Keurig or something like that so that there can be a variety of beverages while you wait. A minor complaint for what you get here though. Attached is a picture of their 3 types of films they use, as well as a heat lamp in a box with their 3 films so you can see how well heat travels through the films. Very helpful tool in the decision making process of which type of film to get. read more

I was looking for a good place to get my windows tinted and of course I went straight to yelp to look at local businesses . This was the only place with good reviews . I called and asked if I could do a walk in and he said sure come on by. I sat there with my son and he played with his dog, we watched tv and had a pleasant time waiting . My son kept wanting to go see our "new car" so we went to go look and the guy had told us we could come into his garage and watch if we'd like. He did an amazing job! Now the not so good: Was quoted an out the door price for new windshield including new moldings but they tried to charge extra for the molding. They accidentally cut the speaker hands free microphone wire removing the windshield. No problem, everyone makes mistakes but they hid what they did instead of telling us and let us leave without the hands free cell phone speaker working. Would have been a 5 star review if they simply would have been honest and told us they cut it and didn't know how to fix it. Would I use them again? Probably not. read more

Probably the best deal I could have got in Oceanside and best completion. I got 15% front and 5% on the back, taillight I had 5% all around. I think this suits best tint combo among different shades. The owner explained it all to me and made it right. Terrible experience and zero communication once they had my money. I found them through a Yelp service request and they responded quickly. First red flag: the quote they gave me came in well under what they actually charged. They said I told them it was a Model S. I don't think I did, but either way, I get that glass for an X costs more. Then they insisted I pay my Geico deductible up front, before anything else. And they blew up my phone -- several calls a day until they got that payment. I couldn't always answer because I'm on conference calls and I get a ton of spam calls anyway. It felt weird, but fine, I figured paying first was no big deal. They gave me the option of Zelle or credit card. I used a credit card. Always do. Thank goodness. Glass comes in, they tell me they're ready for me. I asked for the address so I'd know I was going to the right place -- and that's when they told me I'd have to drive to Temecula. 51 minutes away. Nobody mentioned that at any point. I told them no, I'm not driving out there with a cracked windshield, sitting around for three hours, and then driving home in that traffic. They said that's all they could do. No alternative, nothing offered. So I asked for a refund. And that's when they went silent. No calls, no texts, no replies. They said someone would reach out to resolve it. Still waiting. Funny how they had all the time in the world to chase me down when they wanted my money, and none at all when it's time to give it back. I had (someone else) remove old tint & re-tint my windows. During the job, they did not tint the…read moreback windshield bc the tint was "baked in" and not lifting with a steamer. I was told it required scrapping and that it could possibly damage the defrosters. So I took my vehicle to Mr. Tint for a second opinion on the windshield, to see if they thought the tint could be removed. Mr. Tint was able to remove it safely, without scrapping and placed a new tint to the windshield. It turned out great. I was so happy and relieved. The owner even showed me some small bubbles and imperfections in the prior tint job I just recently had done. He recommended I call them to fix it. I really appreciated that, bc I could not see the small imperfections with a naked eye. But once he pointed them out, I could see it! Def recommend Mr tint!

I drove 2.5 hours to get to the shop as it was one of the closer ones to me. His shop was spotless! Clean, clear and not cluttered with cars stacked next to each other. Plenty of room to work around the car. The install was 100% perfect! I could not find a single flaw in the install! FormulaOne Stratos is the best window film on the market, I live in Palm Springs and on a hot summer day you literally cannot feel the sun hitting your skin, steering wheel and seats don't get hot either. So as I tell people, tint your car once and do it right and enjoy the comfort and quality of the window film. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. It's 100% worth it to protect your skin and your interior. You will thank me! :) Ray takes pride in his work and it shows! This is at the 245 N Emerald location.
