Have never been disappointed here. Their soups are very good and I especially love their lo-mein noodles.

I came in for lunch this afternoon. It was quiet, and there was only myself and another guest in the restaurant. I ordered the crispy dumplings (pork) and spring rolls as appetizers, and the spicy noodle soup as my entree. My server came to take my order, and brought me the items as they were ready. The entree came out before the appetizers. The spicy noodle soup was spicy (as named) and it was good, but it was incredibly oily and the noodles were overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. I would definitely recommend ordering this with rice, or taking it home and making your own. The dumplings and spring rolls were crispy, but nothing special. I did like the duck sauce they had -- I would have asked my server for more of it, but she was busy in the back or something, not sure. I wish she would've checked in on me a bit more during the visit so I could have gotten more napkins and sauce. The service was alright. I wish I would've gotten checked on a little bit more, but she was nice and helped me pack my noodles to go. Overall, this spot wasn't terrible, but if I had to choose, I'd probably try another place. read more

Y'all .... Y'all ..... come on!! This place is STUPID GOOD!!! It's so hard to even explain the wonderful experience we had there. I love the decor / artwork - very pretty asian paintings. Clean and organized spot for sure! Located next to a Boba spot and some sort of SAPD store front (Not sure what that's about). It's a small menu - which I absolutely love because it isn't overwhelming. The sizes of the plate are huge and plenty to share. We got the Garlic Chicken wings , spicy won ton soup and Mapo Tofu (comes with a serving of rice). Seriously the smells that you experience the second the food is set in front of you is intoxicating! We were in the southside of town earlier this past Saturday. We headed to @shifunoodle for lunch. Hubby had heard about this restaurant through Texas Eats. It's located between a Boba Tea place and SAPD office. Though they're known for their noodle dishes, they have other Chinese dishes. 'We shared the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup with the marinated egg, Mapo Tofu, Sweet and Sour Fish, and Garlic Wings. The noodle and soup was good but the beef was a little dry. Dad loved the Mapo Tofu and the Sweet and Sour Fish. I loved the fish too. We both like anything with lots of sauces. The wings seemed missing the brine and was on the dry side too. Visiting San Antonio, we were hungry for some Asian food and ran across ShiFu. It is setup as a fast food dining experience but you do get food brought to you at the table. The menu runs as an a la carte list of various noodles, salads, and appetizers. Our choices (ramen and egg rolls) were both amazing, deliciously spiced and blazing hot when they arrived at the table. The server was incredibly attentive and kind. It's the type of service that builds customer loyalty and the food will keep 'em coming. Our bill was surprisingly small and well worth the cost. What an outstanding addition to what used to be McCreless Mall. I went here again a day after trying a rather famous Chinese Food restaurant on Broadway. The difference was night and day. This may not be totally authentic Szechuan food but it's close enough for me. The space is clean and modern. The food is outstanding and made fresh. Their Spicy Wonton soup is perfect for a cold day. The Spicy and Savory shrimp were great. Large shrimp that tasted fresh and were fried to perfection. The Brisket Noodle soup is hearty and delicious as well. Everything that I have had here has been delicious. The servers have always been nice here. The owner was also very nice as well as appreciative and attentive. Very consistent, delicious food and excellent service. The only drawback is they close at eight because if they were open later, we'll be stalking the place. Nice large booths that can see about six people and murals on the wall and chopsticks and cats for sale waving at you. Szechuan Chinese food is very different from regular Chinese. I highly recommend try all the vegetable dishes and the spicy savory fish and shrimp is delicious don't order traditional Chinese get something unique the cucumber was delicious as well. ShiFu Noodle is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city. It's authentic Szechuan food, so you'll often see Chinese families eating here. I love the Spicy Cuman Beef as well as the Spicy Cuman Chicken. The new Eggplant with Minced Beef dish is amazing (and pretty)! I recommend ordering a few dishes and splitting them around your table. They bring delicious chili oil and soy sauce as well as small plates to help you share. If you order something that's not your thing, I recommend giving them another try because they have a big variety of sweet and savory dishes. If you've got that one friend who just wants to eat basic American-Chinese food, they've got those kind of items on the menu too. But I'd really recommend trying their more authentic dishes because you could order that other stuff anywhere! I've always had good service here. The waitstaff is usually softspoken but attentive. As for ambiance, it's a restaurant in a strip mall, so it's not stunning, but it is clean and well decorated. The music isn't always my favorite. It tends to be dance-party stuff, but it's not too loud. The booths and tables can accommodate big groups well, and I've never run into a wait for seats. The prices are just amazing, given the quality of the food. Everything tastes fresh and is served quickly. You can find plenty of vegetables on the menu, which I like. I used to have to drive out to Szechuan House or Kung Fu Noodle to get great Chinese food, but ShiFu is right up there with those two greats, and it's a very welcome local business in the Mccreless Center! read more

I bookmarked Shifu Noodle because the pictures of the beef noodle soup looked so good! And at $10, it seemed like a good deal. I ordered beef brisket noodles for takeout and the it was ready in an astonishing 5 minutes! Awesome. I take it home and unpack it to find a container of soup, chili oil, and a bowl of noodles topped with four beef slices and a small pile of pickled veggies. I look back in the takeout bag to see if I missed the noodles, then see a hint of white under the beef. For such a large bowl, the noodles take about a half inch of height. Fine. I add the soup and loosen it all up, even after adding the soup, the bowl is hardly half full. Disappointing. As for taste, the beef slices were tender and well seasoned. The chili oil added a nice bit of heat. The soup was just salty with no nuance, no hint of spice, no beef flavor. Meh. Thankfully the pickled veggies and cilantro added some interest, but overall it was not great. I might come back because I still want to believe how good the pictures look, and maybe I got a bad order. The speed of the kitchen was also impressive. read more

The food was DISGUSTING, my husband got orange chicken and it was drowned in turmeric and oil and didn't taste like anything. I got the chicken fried rice and it tasted like sweat . First time customers. Heard good reviews about this place so we stopped by to check it out. 1st red flag we walked in and the place was completely empty. Should have gone with my gut because now my gut hurts from the food. Ordered food it arrived pretty quickly didn't look or taste fresh. The rice that was given out first and the dumplings we ordered were honestly the best part of the whole experience. 2nd red flag when I received my plate of orange chicken I could see the oil in layers underneath soggy breaded chicken that is a bright colored yellow. The orange chicken tasted like old chicken nuggets from McDonald's dipped in honey mustard. Then I received the marinated egg which should be somewhat fresh. It was obviously kept in a freezer because I could taste the water melting off of it. Pretty gross to be honest I just left it on the plate. Not worth 1.50 I make better marinated eggs at home. My wife got the chicken mushroom soup and it was pretty much just noodle water no flavor chicken was bland and there were strips of mushroom that she had to find. Bland. On the bright side the servers were very nice and on their game but the kitchen needs some work. Definitely need to adjust prices for the quality of food. read more

First time coming to shifu noodles and I can say my experience was amazing the employees greeted us coming in and made us feel welcome as they didn't rush us on figuring out what to eat. We ended up ordering a bit of everything since we went in hungry. The dumplings had a crispy crunchy exterior that was filled with a flavorful hot stuffing, the fried rice was decent but I do wish the tables had siracha or soy sauce to amp up flavor in the fried rice. My brother had the spicy savory chicken that they toned the spice down for him but was delicious non the lease it had a crunch fried exterior with soft chicken inside, now the one that made me choose this place the beef noodle soup was delicious the bok choy was crunchy and fresh the noodles perfectly cooked and enough brisket slices in there to keep you full. I would definitely go back to try more from the menu. read more

The hot oil was really good too. We liked them so much we ordered another order after our meal. In all honest we had to order more dumpling s because they really skimp you ok the dinner portion for your main entree here. Looked more like a lunch portion. They could have definitely added more meat or offered to add more meat for 2.50 lol. Definitely a lunch portion for dinner. The Mongolian beef was very tasty although I think they brought it out too quick as parts of the beef were still cold. FIRST TIME VISIT! Enjoyed a lovely (late) lunch with a friend here as we wanted Asian food and a new place to check out. THE LOCATION: Easily found in an H‑E‑B parking lot, so lots of parking potential. THE MENU: Menu has many options ranging from American-Chinese to traditional Sichuan flavors. We wanted to sample of a variety of items without ordering way too much, so we opted for the fried pork dumplings and hot green tea to start. As the main entrees, we added a spicy beef brisket noodle soup and sautéed green beans and beef with to share. THE FOOD: Steamed white and 3 condiment dishes were brought (spicy oil, soy sauces and duck sauce) was brought to our table to accompany the food. The crispy pork dumplings were lovely. Served hot and fresh, I tasted a tiny bit of ginger in it. Would've loved a little bit more ginger. I sampled the duck sauce with it and did not like it at all. A sweet gel that I felt did not enhance the flavors of this dish. I enjoyed the soy sauce (tasted like Kikkoman brand) and the spicy oil very much. The green beans were a delight! Served hot and seasoned just right, however I would have loved more fresh garlic. The salt and pepper beef was my least favorite dish. No real flavor other than salt that I could tell. But it wasn't dried out and had a pleasant texture, but based on taste of the beef alone, I probably would not order this dish again. The noodle soup was ok. Broth was nice and spicy and the noodles (similar to linguine) were good. The brisket was so-so. Not as tender or fresh tasting as it should have been. I did love the baby bok choy in it. THE SERVICE: Service was so-so. Food came out hot and fast. Our server was efficient but it was painfully obvious her smiles were forced. It was our first time and we had a lot of questions and requests. She was annoyed but I appreciate the effort to fake it. It's part of the job, after all. Haha! Decided to try here in our search for a good steamed fish dish. My husband decided to try the spicy poached fish which he loved. I ate the wok braised eggplant, my grandson ate orange chicken and salt and pepper pork ribs. We enjoyed our meal alot and look forward to going back and trying a few more dishes. I've been on a noodle kick trying all different restaurants over the states. This is by far the worst spot. Literally no flavor. I asked for light spice theres NO spice. There's nothing I feel like I'm eating noodles with water. I had to dump my own sauces in this dish to try and salvage it. I ended up tossing the entire thing out. I am very dissatisfied I spent an hour trying to choose good food to order and I settled on this place. I did review the mild spice was not spicy but, I decided they may have upped their game so I would give it a try, nope, like I said no spice, no nothing. Will not order from this spot again. Szechuan food is so flavorful and great for a cold day. Only thing this place lacks is experienced servers. It took a while for them to clean off our table after seating me and there were multiple times where we had to ask for utensils or sauces that were not served. APPETIZERS: The food itself were great portion sizes and all delicious. Green Beans were nice and garlicky. I enjoyed them as an appetizer. My friend also got an order of bok choy with garlic and it had a nice sesame oil flavor. The Hot N Sour Soup is 32 ounces for about $7. The soup was good but I wish it had more tofu or veggies in it. It also didn't come with the wonton crisps. ENTREES: My friend barely made a dent in the huge veggie rice noodle soup. I loved the flavor of my wontons. Broth is a lil on the salty side, if you're watching your sodium intake. The crispy chicken was VERY crisp and not as spicy as I feared. They are weird pieces of chicken and a bit dry. We kept joking that they were gizzard meat, but it was yummy. It was my first time trying Mapo Tofu and I would definitely get it again. It has a melt in your mouth texture and again, not as spicy as it looks. Next time I'm going to try the Brisket Noodles. But the "spicy" rice tasted like straight Tabasco sauce and nothing else, the noodles themselves were very bland, and the broth was decent itself.
