Good care. Medications are VERY OVERPRICED!! I just had an issue with my dog's eye. Saline solution was something suggested along with antibiotics. After I paid I went home and looked at my bill. $35 for saline solution. I thought that's a bit high for that so I price checked on the internet. I could buy the EXACT same thing for less than $3. I checked multiple sites. Why? This has been an issue for a couple of years. Getting worse. I've been a customer for over 25 years. It's a real shame. Debating going to someone else. I've also had recent issues where I had a serious issue and them tell me I had to wait over a month to get an appointment. Spoke to other customers, one said they couldn't see their dog and less than 24 hours later the dog had to be put to sleep. Just seem like a cash grab instead of the welfare of the animals. read more

Michael warren, business director failed at his job of understanding me as a client and looking out for the best interest of my dog, as he claims they do. Or if you consider them just cancelling clients who don't act exactly how they want you to act-smile on your face, not express legitimate concerns, etc then this might be the place for you. He wouldn't take ownership of the red flags that I saw, but kept saying "the more that I listen to you, the more I'm realizing we might not be a good fit for your dog." They made me drug my dog in order to see her just because she's a young dog and gets anxious. Techs do most of the work..I'm paying (and paying dearly) to see a vet. They stabbed a needle so hard into my dog's rear that she cried. I'm moving on. read more

Very caring staff. Dr. Schneider is the best! He gets on the floor with our golden retriever and gives her belly rubs and kisses to make her feel more comfortable during her visit. Been going here for years for general health concerns for my dogs. Last visit was in Feb 2019 to check on boxer's teeth and general health. The vet told me the boxer was extremely healthy and in good shape. I get yearly shots done for the 3 dogs at a clinic. Today I was told that we were not considered "regular" patients because they were not seen yearly... Very disappointed in this philosophy, as the doctor who started this practice never would have considered who is "regular" or not. His concern would have been the dog's wellbeing and health. They are more business oriented now than concern for your pet. read more

I have been taking my dog and recently my cats to this vet. After my dog's 5+ year issue with her skin they said it was flea eggs. Because we were not using THEIR brand that THEY sell to treat it that's why she was suffering. However if it was fleas the skin issue would be in more places than just two spots. Why did they continue Prescribing anti-itch meds too? They told me to use prescription dog food that they sell but when I would need it 1/2 the time they were sold out of it and I couldn't get it elsewhere. The Office manager would not let me finish what I was saying and would constantly interrupt and keep talking over me (and my husband) when we called. I would NOT recommend this place. I got a quote for a canine dental cleaning and was told $1,200-1,700!!!! Who charges that?!?!! read more

Shiloh vet has always given us great service. Very compassionate veterinarians and staff, responsive and great with follow up. They are not the cheapest Vet out there but you get what you pay for and my pet is worth it. Keep up the great work! read more

We have been taking our animals to Shiloh for well over 6 years now and have never had a single bad experience. The entire staff is very helpful and always very nice and understanding. Sometimes their products are recommended to us but never once did I feel like I was being pressured into a purchase and the prices always seem fair. A couple of times we actually were recommended to look into products that they didn't sell when it made sense as we went through the different stages with our dogs as they aged. We have one dog that can be very tough to get to calm down when we need to get him his shots or even just a general checkup. There were a couple of times where we were given one of the rooms early on and had a technician or two sit with us while we were trying to calm him down for about 45 - 60 minutes. Sometimes we couldn't get him to calm down enough where we felt it would not be a good to push it (to avoid making him dread the visits even more). In both cases I expected to have to pay at least something for tying up the room and the staffs time but didn't get charged at all. I know sometimes an experience will depend a lot on who you interact with, but we have dealt with many of the vets, techs, and general staff to feel very comfortable taking our animals here. They genuinely care about our pets and always do their best to keep them healthy and happy! read more

This is a solid veterinary practice that showed genuine concern for my dogs. They also were careful to present all the options and their associated costs. I always felt they were being honest with me and never tried to "upsell" me on services that weren't necessary. Plus, it's clear that everyone who works there absolutely loves animals. I cannot say enough good things about this place. My cat had a urinary blockage and was seen at another animal hospital for an overnight stay (I also give Mason Dixon 24 hour animal hospital 5 stars). Shiloh took over his care once he was well enough to be released. The staff is on top of things. Everyone, from the ladies at the desk, to the tech's and the vets were amazing. They make you feel like your pet is the most important thing on their mind and give you lots of time and attention. I was most impressed about how in depth the techs and vets talk to you about the issues and spend a long time going over things, not making you feel rushed at all. The office is clean and their system well organized. I've never had to wait more than 5 mins in the car with my pets. And once we were placed in a room, never had to wait more than 5 minutes to speak with the tech and vet. Also, they do cold laser therapy for speeding up healing. It helped my cat tremendously and and i'm forever grateful. read more

Just called with what we thought was an emergency, but because we are new to the area, and the this doctor has never seen one of our pets, we were politely informed that the practice could not see our sick cat. I love this vet! I left another vet in the area because I was not happy with their service anymore and stopped in Shiloh to ask if they were accepting new clients. They were so nice and professional. Have been going here for years. I have 2 small dogs. They have a lot of health issues. You do not get any breaks, whatsoever!!! I am managing healthcare for 2 dogs, a child and a Senior. I work FT and have alot on my plate. It is insulting when they pitch a fit because I may have run very close on a needed med and call for same day pick up. Not same hour, just same end of day!!! Really, you can't manage with 8 hr notice? The practice is becoming more commercialized and less pet and family oriented. There is a constant turn over of staff and rarely the same faces at the front desk. I find this disconcerting. When I had an emergency at one point related to diabetes and they were closing within the hour. They didn't offer to help me considering I have spent over $10,000 at their practice in the last 5 years. They sent me to the emergency vet. Where I have never been. But thankfully, they were more considerate and compassionate there. I will continue at Shiloh only because my pets are aged. But would not recommend them or go there in the future. read more

Run away, run away fast. I would not give it any stars if possible. More worried about churning the clock and running up fees than caring for your pet. Med prices are inflated. Everything needs a separate appointment so as to rack up more fees. Been in York for 15 years. Changed vets because I moved across town. Will gladly drive across town or to another town for a vet more concerned about my dogs well being than generating fees. The straw that broke the camel's back involved a request related to a scheduled visit with a "technician" for a "med check" for my senior with thyroid issues. My four month old puppy developed an nasty ear rash. I asked if someone could take a quick look while we were in with the senior. The response was "No, you will have to make a separate appointment." Your kidding me, two minutes to look in puppy's ear and say - "here, clean it out with this." Borderline insensitive. And then when I got there, they said, we can't test his thyroid because the medication was not given 4 hours prior to the appointment/drawing blood. Would have been nice for the vet to remind me of the time sensitivity of providing the medicine and drawing blood. The tech acted like I had screwed up saying "don't worry about it, its not a big deal" - like I was doing them the favor of patronizing their business. I am the one that took a 1/2 day of work for the appointment. This was not an isolated incident. When I made the appointment, I remembered it needed to be in the morning and she was providing me appointments in the afternoon. I feel they don't have a good grasp of the various issues dogs can encounter and I don't trust their advice. Pretty clear they put generating fees above an animal's welfare. I am done and going back to my old vet. read more

I have been meaning to comment and review for a while now, but finally forced myself to sit down and do it, because they really do deserve praise and recognition for their amazing service. Ive been going to Dr Herr for about 5 years, and she is just beyond amazing. Every pet owner thinks their pet is exceptional and wants their baby to get the best care, and I was never disappointed. There have been a lot of health issues with my cat, some which had me going for second opinions and to specialists and never once has my vet made me feel bad about checking all my options or looking around for better prices. I don't really think that this place is very expensive honestly, since I've gone to other places in the area and its not outrageously out of the range other places charge. You get what you pay for - for example, when my senior cat had a dental, she had human grade anesthesia, with nurses monitoring her continuously, as well as after the procedure and 8 extractions and she got excellent meds to keep her comfortable. The vet called me several times during the day to update me on the progress. I felt like she was in the best of hands, and she was. I don't think a lot of other vets do that. My cat recently passed away from cancer that went to her lungs, and they were beyond compassionate and caring. It took a very long time to say goodbye because we just didn't want to, and they let us have as much time as we needed and everyone had so much patience and understanding. I was amazed that a few days later a got a condolence gift basket from my vet and a beautiful handwritten letter. I think this place is a gem and Dr. Herr is just unbelievable. Recently Ive also gone there for my other cat, who ate a monopoly piece and was choking and due to this emergency went with a different doctor and they were also excellent - I think the first time it was with Dr. Hoffman, and the second time with Dr. Onstott, and they were also very very good. We kept going back and forth whether it would be necessary to do exploratory surgery to find the piece if there was a blockage, and finally after several x-rays and barium study found that it was not necessary. Thats another thing which I like- they could have easily told me that surgery was necessary and increased my bill by at least $3000, but they put my cats well being above a larger paycheck and I`m forever grateful. Honest and caring - you cannot ask for anything more. read more

Shiloh Vet Hospital is one of the finest veterinarian care facilities in York. They are very good at what they do. I have no doubt whatsoever about the care given to my animals. The problem lies in their pricing that has gone up almost double in the last few years. The reason is because they've gotten new equipment, for instance, they do their own xrays now. By becoming a high end vet hospital, it means that only those people with lots of money can afford them. Truly sad, because I love these people and hate that I, like many others before me, must now find a vet that doesn't charge outlandish prices. Bottom line: great care, Country Club Road prices. An estimate of $700-$900 for a dental for my cat, which included a possible extraction. Even with an extraction, this is too much. The estimate does not include the senior bloodwork I already had gotten. Add $200 for the bloodwork, and I've got nearly a $1000 bill for a dental for my cat. I want the best for my cat, but the pricing has gotten out of hand at Shiloh Veterinarian Hospital. I will be finding another place to take care of my cat, whom I love like he was my own child. read more

My cat went in for a dental cleaning. My cat was happy and healthy when I left him in their care. However, when he returned home, he was blind and brain damaged. He was never able to recover and had to be euthanized. I feel so horrible that he died like this. Shiloh eventually refunded the money I paid for follow-up aftercare, but they refused to refund the money I paid for the dental cleaning. I do not think it is ethical for them to profit off of the harm done to my cat. Something clearly went wrong with this dental procedure, but they cannot identify the cause. However, it seems to me that, at the very least, my cat was not monitored well because his brain damage should have been noticed (and treated!) before being sent home to me. I am not a vet, yet I immediately noticed he was "spinning" in a circle when we arrived home, so how could a staff of trained professionals not examine him well enough to notice this? I was a loyal client at Shiloh for many years, but I've since transferred the care of my remaining pets to a new veterinarian. read more
