The seafood section is located in the back left of the store next to the drinks. I love how the selection provides a little bit of everything: spicy tuna, kimchee raw crab, shoyu poke, hawaiian style poke with limu, and even poke with kukui nut! We stopped by Shimas coming from the north shore and it was the best decision ever! We got 2 lbs of poke spicy tako, and a couple of waters. I loved that this market is THE market of the Waimanalo residents, I loved seeing kids and their siblings and cousins with their mom and dad just straight up chillin! It's also very close to the Waimanalo beach and the Bagley beach. The service was giving mom-and-pop shop that feels like a warm hug from your lolo's and titas. Last year we lost our Kailua Times Supermarket which became Tokyo Central which is good but it's just not the same. On occasion we will make the drive to Nalo town to go to Shima's Market and it's well worth it for the great selection of ono food, the smiling & friendly faces and the feeling of being at home, mahalo! read more

I live in Waimanalo, so Shima is the go to store whether it is a last-minute purchase or a planned the shopping list. They may not have as much variety as big supermarkets, but they have what you need. The sales clerks are very accommodating I helping you find things. this store is well organized, which makes it easy to shop. I also love their po'ke department. read more

I come to Bellows beach often when I come to Hawaii, it's my favorite on the island. A friend of mine recommended this place to grab poke before going to the beach. On the outside it looks like an unassuming market, but there's a hidden gem in the back. There's a huge poke selection, possibly the biggest I've ever seen. They're super nice and will let you try them before you buy! I never thought I could have such good poke with the selections here. Turns out to be part of the Times Supermarket chain. Dropped in randomly looking for a snack and came upon their pokes in the seafood section. It's a full-service seafood counters offering a wide variety of poke, including ahi, tako, shrimp, salmon, mussel poke and more.  Also available are soy bean poke, pipikaula, dried aku and other local pupu favorites. $1 for one disposable mask if you forget yours. We went here to grab food and I forgot my mask. When we asked them for a mask to get in, they were going to charge us for one, which is understandable, but it was for $1, for a disposable one. Are you kidding me?! All the other stores I've seen, they're either just lying in the front or they'll freely give you one (free!) Anywho, my husband just gave me his mask so I can quickly grab what I need, then he went in and he didn't even find what he was looking for. read more

I took a ride from the Wesside over to the Eastside and went to visit Shima's to buy poke. Parking was pretty busy eventually stalls were opening up! Upon entering the store you could feel an ambiance of how friendly and Aloha the locals and the employees showed. The store was clean. I bought some fresh veggies and poke. The prices were about the same as other stores. I got to the poke counter and the person helping me was totally awesome that she allowed me to try some of their home made poke and were the ones I had bought because they just took me back to when I was younger. We were on the way to the Byodo-In Temple and I wanted to take a picnic of poke with me so I again pulled out my trusted Yelp and Shima's Supermarket came up. This was our first poke experience in Hawaii for this trip so I was so excited to see the huge selection. There was a local lady in front of me who was placing her order and she was so kind to me and gave me a lot of good ideas of what to order. I wish I had noted the name of the lady who was working behind the counter because she couldn't have been more nicer to me. After being on the receiving end of a few curt and rude service in Oahu, this was such a nice and welcome change. This sweet lady while helping the nice local lady in front of me gave me so many samples to taste so that I knew exactly what to order. I wanted to order the poke bowl but unfortunately she ran out of white rice. She did however sell me the last scoop of white rice that she had. The ladies in the front and the cash register was also so very pleasant. We ended up having such a wonderful picnic. Every poke that I had selected was packed with flavor and so very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our first experience with this wonderful supermarket. Delicious poke, excellent, customer service, what more could I ask for! read more

Conveniently located across the Waimanalo Shopping Center -next to 7 Eleven store and nearby L&L. Weekly ad sales are pretty good and the employees are at best kind. They're actually running a weekly sales ad which is much appreciated. Most times of the day (except dinner time 4-6pm) don't expect 2 or 3 cashiers to be ready because for some reason they just don't schedule the cashiers to be ready besides the dinner rush hour. Anyways- I bought a good bunch and the owner offered me a box to carry my items out. Thank you very much for that part. Tip- plan for extra time to shop in there because besides good deals, they only have 3 registers running and unless it's rush hour, normally 1 or 2 will actually operate. And there's no rushing allowed in the store apparently. read more

The amount of choices for poké that they had in the back was great. They offered me a couple samples of the ones I was interested in for me to narrow down which ones I wanted to take to the beach with me. The prices for the poké are remarkable for the amount that they pack for you and the person behind the counter was very helpful and patient with me when I was making my decision. A definite go to for poké if you're in the area. Also if you want white rice don't forget to ask for some, I was too excited to eat the Poké I almost left without getting a little container :D read more

Tonight, as I entered Shima's I was surprised and disappointed at the fact that the cashiers were not wearing any masks or gloves. As a customer wearing PPE, I feel the employees should be doing the same. In line, the cashier handled money from the customer in front of me(who also had no PPE) and did not sanitize her hands before handling my food. I live in Kupuna housing and should not have to worry about being exposed by an employee while shopping. Needless to say I Clorox wiped my groceries before putting them away. As a resident of Waimanalo, I shop at Shima's quite often. I love the fact that although its a smaller store than most, it carries a wide variety of products. Shima's Market is owned by Times which is owned by a mainland company. Regardless, it still has a very local, small town feel due to its tiny size and produce selection (where else can you buy luau leaves in a grocery store?!). You can buy all your produce, frozen foods, dairy, packaged foods and seafood here. Better yet, because they're part of Times, they follow the weekly specials and advertisements too! Shima's is also pretty much the only supermarket in Waimanalo, I think the next closest one would be Safeway in Enchanted Lakes. The parking lot is tiny and it can get very crowded. It can also be a hassle to get back on the road through waimanalo. There's one cashier who isn't very friendly. I felt like she was judging me while she was ringing me up and kept giving me side glances. Idk why... Maybe I'm too white for nalo. Maybe she was confused as to why me, the white girl, was buying luau leaves. Whatever the reason, it made me a little uncomfortable, but I'll just choose a different cashier next time. :) read more
