Just recently moved to Brooklyn so I'm trying to find a nail salon that I can go to on the regulars came across Shimmer on my walk around the neighborhood with my dog. Hesitant as I am usually a nerve wreck when trying new spots in general but I gave this nail salon a go as a woman, who seems to be the owner was looking out the door and gave me a friendly wave and a smile-- that's exactly what drew me in. I came back the next day and went to look for her, Monica was her name. When I tell you.. she is incredibly talented, detail-oriented, and has such a great eye for color and design-- I really do mean it! She was extremely gentle with my nails and respectful with what I wanted, told her I was afraid of the nail drill as I had some bad experience in the past and she made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole session. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcomed and comfortable. We chatted about what kind of look I was going for, and she helped me pick the perfect shades and design I was aiming for. Definitely gonna recommend my friends here as they live close by as well! If you're planning to get your nails done in the area, definitely look for Monica (as I'm sure other nail techs are just as wonderful)! I think I found my go-to spot! read more

I've gone to this nail salon for New Year's and my nails have lasted me throughout the whole month. They were well-made well done. I got so many compliments and even as they were growing out, I still got compliments. I enjoyed my service so much. I returned to get my nails done again this time only getting gel on my natural nails and the worker Ling was so diligent so kind so cute when attending to me she worked on my cuticles she gave me a massage on my shoulders, hands and feet. She was very diligent in making sure I reached completely comfort level. She even helped me put my shoes back on. Everyone was very kind and attentive and the price is so great. I love coming to shimmer nail salon . I was looking for a new nail salon and Monica was so welcoming when I called to make an appointment. Monica has been my nail tech for the past couple of visits and she is amazing . She has a pleasant demeanor and always makes me feel comfortable. She has a great eye for detail . All the other nail techs are friendly and pleasant as well . Fiona is wonderful and makes me feel so comfortable when I get my pedicure . Overall clean establishment , they honor appointments and I leave with nails that last over 4 weeks . A true gem . read more

I used to love coming here for my nails. But today has officially turned my business elsewhere. I came in for a simple red French tip nail. I showed her the design and we agreed just red French tip. She did my two thumbs and she proceeded to do my other fingers and frankly I wasn't happy with the style so I politely asked she remove the color and just make my nails all red. I was not going to argue on this. Linda caught an attitude at this and started muttering things under her breath and also got very harsh with handling my hands after. Did she make my nails red? No she left them pink after I asked for them to be all red. And she also left red polish underneath my nails and when I asked for her clean it up she caught another attitude and more muttering. So thanks to Linda I will no longer be going back. Also in previous appointments I've been, I've seen Linda get upset with clients when they don't like her work. Like you cannot get upset when the client is asking for something you can't deliver. read more

It,s bright and clean also they play good music in the background. They offer varieties of nail services, the girl did my nail she was so sweet, she took her time to shape every nails and make sure the design was the one I wanted. My son took me here for both of us to get mani/pedi's. For the last three years, my husband and I have been trying out different nail places in the area and I had never been to Shimmer. My son picked it out. He booked two pedicures to be followed by two manicures. When we walked in there were two people getting manicures They were there from the time we walked in and were still there when we walked out an hour and a half later. So there was just one pers homicide on to do our pedicures. When two people come in to get pedicures together, they do not expect to have one pedicure done while the other person waits! So this woman did my son's pedicure while I sat therewaiting. I asked her if she could put the water on so I could at least soak my feet while she was working. Something she should've done herself. Both pedicures were very mediocre. I know what the other Salons are doing in the neighborhood and these people were not doing anything near what they were supposed to be doing. I felt that the two pedicures were both very rushed. No hot stones like most salons do. No hot oil on the heels like most salons do. The foot/leg massage was nonexistent. My son's manicure lasted for less than 10 minutes and then he had to sit for the next 30 minutes while my nails were being done. If the salon was short staffed, for some reason, they should've apologized and explained that. Both my toenails and my fingernails look very nice, but the whole experience was not worth the money. read more

They offer all nail services, waxing, massage etc and all at great prices. I especially love the jelly pedicure that comes with a ten minute massage for such a great price. Shimmer nail spa it great! Monica is absolutely wonderful. I usually get SNS or gelx and a spa pedicure. They do the most relaxing spa pedicures, the lotion smells so good and the massages are great! If there is something new and trendy to do, like ombré chrome or gelx, they do it! I love going there because the environment is so great, the staff is so nice and friendly. They take the best care of my 94 year old grandma too! A pillow for her back, water when she's thirsty, they go above and beyond. I'm so grateful to have found this wonderful salon! read more
