Picked up my 2026 BMW M850 late February. On the way home I noticed every window was smeared as a result of the dealerships detailing. Finally got around to taking the car to Shineology for a wash and interior window cleaning - got the "works" car wash - great value. Luis was the point man, asked if they could have someone short clean the rear window and side windows (tiny back seat area) - no problem. My car came around, got in line to drying. Saw Luis tell the lead about my request. When it was finished the interior was cleaned immaculately and all the windows were spot and smudge free - exterior glistened in the sun. "new owner" is how the guy explained it when he told me that the "free" car wash you get, remember that one? the one that was always part of the deal for you overpaying the smog only station connected to shineology to certify that your car isn't dooming the human race with global warming, yeah well that free carwash no longer includes cleaning the interior of your car. hell, that was the best part of the deal. anyone with a garden hose can do a credible job on the exterior but really going over the inside surfaces required a lot of bodies with red washcloths in hand, all of them wiping wiping wiping away... hey senor new owner, i'm done with you here... never coming back. and judging from the very light traffic in your operation i'm not alone in this. you obviously paid the longtime owner too much for this ez-on/off freeway offramp location and now you can't afford to hire as many red rag guys to do the wipe work at the end, am i correcto? also i noted something very important is now missing: all that auto-cleaning equipment inside the washing tunnel has now been replaced with a guy inside the entrance with a long-handled brush one to wipe the top, the result of the new wash cycle is a little less effective washing. i assume that equipment that's gone now either wasn't part of the purchase or you didn't want to pay to lease or maintain it. what's left of the autowash tunnel is just a rinse and blow-dry tunnel. thus endeth the long relationship, well maybe "long" if 10 years is long anymore, between my car and shineology (cute name, no?). and to the new owner a little business advice: your guys out front seem to enjoy a bit to much fun at customer expense, at least for now anyway, like they can sucker the newbies just fell off the turnip truck, the job being to upsell a basic carwash (sans interior cleaning) from the going rate around marin of maybe $60 for machine wash, vacuum and windex handjob at the end, to include stuff previously thrown in as part of the basic package, plus polish the headlights and custom whatevers... so the customer drives away less a few benjamins. hire some new guys who make it less obvious to customers they're gonna shave 'em dry. those street hustlers are degrading the experience of your pricey new business, now seeming much akin to those cheap shuck'n jiveass car upholstery shops in bumf'k tijuana. but again, for me it's adios. read more

I had a really frustrating experience at Shineology and won't be returning. I came in for a simple smog test only and was charged $89.99. Later, I found out their Mill Valley location charges just $29.99 for the exact same service -- a $60 difference because they were trying to drum up business at the other location. There is no way for me to confirm that this is the case. They initially offered a complimentary car wash, but when my car didn't pass the smog test, I was told to get it checked by a mechanic and come back. When I returned, the complimentary car wash had mysteriously disappeared from my dashboard. I brought this up with the manager and even offered to prove that their Mill Valley location charges $29.99. He agreed that if I could show him, he'd honor it with a replacement car wash. After confirming it himself, he backed out of his word, claiming the lower price was just to "drum up business." At the end of the day: - I overpaid by about $60 - Lost the complimentary car wash - Received no accountability or effort to make things right The manager was dismissive and didn't seem to care at all. I felt like awkward not knowing how to enter the car wash after getting some gas. There was maybe a little lost in translation. But eventually someone let me know I could leave my car they would take my car through the wash to detailing and then I go wait over at the back 2nd area- seems like a different area or different car wash, to pay the "cashier." Looking back there I see the LARGE awning says cashier. Large waiting area inside and out. There were like 4 people always working on my car. Scores of cars being worked on! The gap area above the trunk - while opened was wiped and black goop being dripped away. - they had to change towel's immediately. Also a guy came back to tap on gas door- have someone pop it open- he cleaned in there- and I know it was filthy as I just got gas and noticed NO One has probably EVER cleaned in there! Then I'm checking to see if my car is nearing ready. The hood is open and they are vacuuming in there! Leaves etc. my daughter was thrilled I took her car to get filled and washed while I borrowed it. Seriously amazing job. I got the basic for 39.99 and extra hand wipe down 12. $50. It was totally what this car needed and so glad to witness such an amazing car wash place. The service was above and beyond and worth the money. I brought my brand-new truck here twice, and both times I left with new scuff marks that were not there before. This is the only place I've brought my truck since purchasing it. After today's visit, I noticed a fresh mark and brought it to the lead employee's attention. His response was, "I told you your truck was dirty," and then told me the only way to remove it was with a wax that would cost $450, because my truck is "big" Yes, my truck was dirty -- I had just come back from the snow. That's exactly why I paid $80 for a wash. Dirt does not justify new scratches or scuff marks appearing after a service. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and customer service. Shineology is car wash that's very close and convenient to my casita, so anytime I need a good wash I come here. I've always had good results on my wash and pleased with how quick they turn things around. They are always staffed up to handle the workload of cars, but you do pay a bit of a price premium. They also try to upsell you deals on various wax options so consider that when coming here. With all that said, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend in getting your car cleaned here. read more

This morning my hubcap was destroyed in the car wash. I was instructed to be the one to ride in my vehicle for the exterior wash. I followed all directions perfectly.At the end of the wash I was handed my mangled and destroyed hubcap which cost 115.00 to replace. The car wash offered no apology or offer to compensate me for the damage. Will never get near that place again and advise anyone to avoid it. read more

I am beyond disappointed by this experience. The gentleman tried to sell me on a $300 interior detailing which I ultimately declined and went for the express detailing option which cost $100. When I received the car back, it felt the car had not been vacuumed thoroughly, the surfaces had not been wiped down, and no effort was made to get in any extra crevices or do any additional work that you think would be included in an express detailing service. As I received the car, I flagged the team that had cleaned it and pointed out the many areas that were not cleaned. They looked at me blankly and walked away, offering no help. I went inside and bought a three dollar pack of wipes and felt ultimately I did a better job than the team I'd paid $100 to clean the car did. I had told the gentleman that if I felt the team did a good job I would consider coming back for the more expensive detailing. I definitely don't feel like I will be back. read more

I had postponed a car wash and interior clean for far too long, and as I was going to be in Marin and had a bit of time I thought I would visit this establishment, despite some rather indifferent reviews posted here, some not too recent. I have to say I was very impressed and pleased at the end result. It was the Friday before Easter and it was quite busy, but I have to say I had never had so many people working on my car at one time before. There were between 3-5 people vacuuming, washing windows, wiping down the interior surfaces, and cleaning the tires. The car was ready on no time and it was beautifully clean. I was very pleased. I think that people generally review car washes when the have a bad experience. I saw these low ratings and almost went elsewhere. I live in SF where there are no car washes anymore. At $65, it is not cheap, but it really is more like a mini-detail than a regular car wash. I don't know anyone who does a wash like this for this price. They did everything they said, including detailed cleaning of the wheels, and everything in the interior, including vacuuming the door cubbies, and other less than obvious areas. There were 3 to 5 people working on my car for at least 10 minutes and it showed. The outside had multiple areas of bird poop, and an apparent tire rub from someone who grazed me in a parking lot. That was all clean. I know not everyone has a good experience, but I think there are plenty of happy folks who don't take the time to post positive reviews. Went to have a car wash on 5/17/25. Paid about $42. 00 including a $2.00 for gas. The inside cleaning was way below substandard. I guess their vacuums do not work. A lot of window cleaning, but that is that. A lot of show, but not removing mats to clean underneath, no wiping seats, no dusting vents, and the list goes on. Lots of white shirts with tablets selling but no output. Never to return. I have been scammed. read more

And as if getting gouged wasn't enough, they are bizarrely aggressive with trying to upsell you on a raft of truly outrageously priced detail and waxing options. I've taken a couple of my cars here for years. They even had a record of the last time I had my car detailed. I had my 2016 Honda washed/waxed the other day and they did an amazing job. There must have been 7 people working on it and it took an about an hour. They even vacuumed the engine area. I had the wheels and tires cleaned done, too. My car didn't look this good when I bought it! I definitely recommend Shineology if you want your car looking as good as it possibly can. Here's some advice, get a punch card for customers instead of trying to be high tech and say the license plate is in the system and just come back. Obviously, this is your scam. And that's why I kept the receipt and don't trust you who suggested to work off the license plate number. I wash my own cars, but always got these car wash gift cards from random school raffles. My problem with this company is their fast-talking upselling that is then not honored. I went in several months ago for a regular car wash and was up-sold a carpet cleaning. I was told at that time that I could come back for another full service car wash, free of charge, and given a bundle of receipts as proof. Fast-forward to my next trip to this company to get my courtesy car cleaning. Again, they try to upsell me and tell me they are going to clean my car today and again in a few months when I come back for another carpet cleaning. They quote me a price that seems too good to be true and hand me a receipt. I go in to pay and, surprise, the receipt at checkout is $100 more than what they told me at my car. I declined the upsell and say I just want my courtesy car cleaning and suddenly my receipts don't prove I have a courtesy car cleaning and I'm expected to pay for today's cleaning (which they have already started while up selling me). With the wash, the price is $2.99. I decided the gas savings was incentive for the wash. The Chevron Station across the street posted $3.69 gal. 12 gal x $3.69 = $44.28. At $2.99 = $35.28. There just are not a lot of options in the area... so Ive been driving around a less than clean rig more and more. Had driven up to Tahoe last week and the "snow" dusting was well, more than a dusting so rolled in for a wash. I used to love this place, and recognize much of the team here. Also drive by enough to see that its never really busy anymore, that being said, pulled in for gas, one of the guys who knows me helped and offered the detail package like they always do, and just had to say no. There is a fraction of the staff there now there used to be, and unfortunately morale has clearly been in decline along with quality since the ownership change. Post wash checked out the truck and so many dirty spots it wasnt worth bringing up. If I have to draw attention to a job not completed reasonably, or even close to reasonably, its simply not worth the time and effort. VEHICLE DAMAGED DURING WASH I was very impressed with this business until I returned to my vehicle to see that one of it's hubcaps had been damaged while going through the wash. I will not be returning. I was not informed by the staff - who had left my driver door open to obscure that fact from me. When I pointed out the damage they asked if it was new. Asking "Did it come like that?" I was also informed that prior to COVID they drove the vehicles themselves to prevent damage from occurring but can no longer do so. It makes no difference that I was the one driving as they accept no responsibility for any damage to vehicles caused during their process. Due to the fact that they actively tried to hide the damage and make no attempt to either warn me of the risk to wheels, prevent it before it occurred, tell me afterward - I will be warning others not to do business here. I just got back from having the $59.99 "The Works" wash/detail of my Dodge Durango. Given how many people worked on my car, I would have expected it to be clean. Instead, when I arrived home I had to re-wash almost every surface. Carpets were put in upside-down and looked like they had only been half-vacuumed. Surfaces inside and out were still dirty. And there were spider webs where the front passenger door opened! This wash was actually "free" with the overpriced smog certificate I got here, so maybe that's why they did such a poor job. It certainly wasn't because they were busy, as they had only one other customer in the 30 minutes it took them to do my car. I am certainly glad I didn't actually pay $60 for such a horrible job. If you're going to do something, do it right Shineology. It doesn't really take that much extra effort. read more

I don't know why anyone would go here to get ripped off. We have been a customer for over 20 years. We watched it change over the years but it is now a money grab. After my wife's $60 car wash, I had to wax the whole car due to dirty rags leaving it badly stained. They took all the chairs out of the waiting area/gift shop (which is no good) and now you sit with the employees in a stinky area. My wife paid $170 for a smog cert and they said the free coffee and drinks were only for car wash people. Total money grab. This owner realizes that Marin people got the dough and he is going to try to get as much as he can. As a 30 year Marinite, I don't appreciate it. I recommend taking your car to get a detailed interior steam wash by Lildre. He was so thoughtful and thorough with his work. He steam cleaned my Prius horn cover and it looks brand new! It was my first time getting that part of my car cleaned in 10 years. It's spotless and beautiful. The car wash is a little pricey $70, but they clean your interior, wash/dry windows, check tire pressure, vacuum, wipe down seats, and detail clean the interior. Two thumbs up! read more

This guy spent about 10 minutes trying to upsell me on a detail package (nearly five hundred dollars). I listened bc I am on the market for detailing but declined bc I wanted to see how well they would clean it first. 2. It took 40 minutes to complete the "wash". 3. The car was not even clean! I spent $57 to waste my time and leave with a dirty car. I was especially surprised to find that the smoothie splatters were still there even tho I pointed them out hoping they would be cleaned... no. 4. Rounding down from 2.5 stars... TL,DR? Go to a automated drive through wash and bring some towels to buff for the same quality as their $50 wash. I've been here twice. The first time they did a spotless job, one of the best car washes I've had! The second time made me feel like the first car wash was a bait and switch... I watched the car come out of the wash and sit in the sun unattended for 10min before a crew came and spent less than 5min 'drying' the outside and cleaning the interior. Watching this whole process happen I was unsurprised to find water streaks all over the car when it was returned to me. Had to kindly ask an employee who did not work on the car to come over and help me dry/buff out my own car. For $50 for a deluxe wash I was surprised to find myself cleaning my own car of massive visible streaks. Sigh. Shineology you disappoint. read more
