I've been going to Shingaar salon for almost 10 years and I dont go anywhere else for my eyebrows threading, Neelu is an expert! I just wanted to add that Ana the hair dresser is SUPER! She is an expert hairstylist. She knew what my hair needed! Conditioning treatment and a better cut to bring out my highlights. I got a haircut else and it was all wrong. She fixed me and right on time for my bday. I left feeling like a million dollars. Highly recommend this Salon, it's your one stop shop. In addition, they have Sue!! The facial lady. Took my not-so-little-girl in for a more stylish cut to better suit her age, and Kuki did not disappoint! She took her time, was so thorough and sweet, checking with me and my daughter every step of the way. The professionalism in this salon is less than one star. I tried this place because of the mostly positive Yelp reviews. When I walked in I was greeted by a man cussing as he was working on a pipe leak from one of the washing stations. Finally a woman comes out and looks at me as if I was in the wrong place. I finally had to say to her, "is there someone here that can do my eyebrows?" it was a very odd interaction. First red flag. But I thought I would give her the benefit of the doubt. She then proceeds to point to a chair as an indication for me to sit. Second red flag. She doesn't ask me how I'd like them shaped. She finished the process so then it was time to pay. As I was looking for the price list it was no where to be found. No tent card anywhere, no board. At Least it wasn't in view where it could have easily been found. Very shady, 3rd red flag. She then tells me it was $12.00 and I said where is your price list? Doesn't answer me. Odd, right! I'm not writing this review because I feel cheated of twelve dollars. I'm writing this in hopes that they treat new clients better. No business should run this way. Lastly, this may take the cake, I saw this banner hanging while I was getting lunch just 2 days later. "Eyebrow threading $3.99" first time clients only" which is only located on the side of their building. Now, there is a small possibility that the promotion could have started the very next day. Neelu is friendly and personable two very important things to have when dealing with so many clients daily. I was referred to her through a friend and boy have I never looked back. I've been high and low through the OC looking for a good brow place so much so that I even shelled out $25+ at the Benefit counter only to have my brows look worse afterwards. Neela is an expert at making eyebrows behave. She is also gentle, which is a big plus when you're lying flat on your back in a dentist's chair, letting someone take a thread to your chin. The salon has a clear sign out front, if you're looking for it. Otherwise, it's tough to find. Just look for the mariachi place in Orange, and then go left. :) What I liked most about my experience was that the staff were friendly and efficient, and the prices were great. I was in an out in under 10 minutes. I didn't have any lasting redness or irritation. I just looked like I had a beauty expert on my team, which is true. I would definitely go back. Neelu Dhillon is the owner of Shingaar Salon. The salon is behind McDonalds and between a large tattoo place. Neelu is a MASTER at threading and she really knows what she is doing. Neelu is consistent and looks at your face carefully to get the correct frame for the brows. My daughter refuses to let anyone but Neelu touch her eyebrows now because she has had really bad experiences with wax burns and another gal destroyed her eyebrow shape. When my daughter leaves Neelu's salon, her eyes look so beautiful. Amazing what a properly shaped eyebrow will do to your whole face. I've been to a few other places including Ziba who really messed up my eyebrows once and another time an inexperienced gal pinched my skin at Ziba. It took me about a year to grow out my bad Ziba experience until I found Neelu. Neelu is very sweet and kind, and her prices are pretty good considering her experience. I needed a new threading salon after the one I used to go to gave me very poor customer service. I found Shingaar through Yelp, and I found Neelu to be excellent. I had my full-face threaded, and for anyone who has not had that service before, let me tell you it can be painful. Neelu, however, was very thorough and fast and she made it as painless as possible. I've came to this place 3 separate times & each time I've been giving horrible customer service. 1st time I went in near opening I'm assuming it was 11:00 AM, I walked in was NOT greeted, I then began too look for a sign in sheet or prices or anything but didn't find nothing. My fiancé who was with me didn't like the rude vibes so he asked is this thee eyebrow threading salon and a women cutting some ones hair replied come back in an hour, she's not here. I then ask ok should I call before? She replies No just come back. So I'm already a little frustrated, I then leave. I came back 2 hours later to find out the deal they have for new clients only paying $3.99 which is how I even came across the salon because of the banner posted on the building that DOES NOT state that at all ; is only Monday threw Wednesday, it was Thursday so I was a day too late. The way she greeted me was not any better then the first women I had an encounter with. Asked me if it was my first time I said yes and then told me the special wasn't today, so I then asked so the banner has no relevance? She then said "Monday threw Wednesday, only." I was once again annoyed, waisting my time to come back and fourth for nothing. I left and came back a few days later around 2 PM on Monday and they were closed no signs stating why it was closed nor that they'd be coming back just closed, I even tried calling 2 hours before that to book an appointment & no answer {I should of figured...} learn some decent customer service & how to run a professional business, it's not rocket science and it doesn't take much to NOT be so rude & catty to possible future clients. Grade on this place is an "F". Step it up. read more
