Horrible service! Came in I purchased a new Shinola Vinton 38mm it arrived with a dead battery. I called and they told me it was $35 no problem! I came to drop off the watch and they said it was free because it was a new watch, I left my name and number, I got a call back apologizing saying it was a mistake and I have to pay $35 because I bought it from a 3rd party which I said no problem if they can change the battery and I'll pay when I come back since I had already left... they told me no problem and to come back in 30 min. I come an hour later just find out they haven't touched the watch because there had not been a payment of $35 yet. Absolutely horrible, Not only did I get a new watch with a dead battery, I had to pay $35 (no problem), worst part is the having me wait around for over an hour just so I can come back and pay and wait longer... I called first about a product and heather was awesome. I couldn't wait so I drove down in traffic to check it out. I went in thinking I wanted something dainty but after a personalized shopping experience and her patience, I ended up getting a gorgeous Birdy with jasper stone. Heather was so helpful and made me feel like I'd be welcome back. If Venice wasn't such a drive I'd spend more of my pocketbook here. I was so tempted to buy the green rivet bag especially as Wicked is hitting theatres; I even wore a green shirt on accident Bonus that the watch I chose was cheaper than my original I had in mind. The ring was not in stock so Kenny did some magic and had it shipped from their warehouse so I would receive it before 12/31/2025. I've been a Shinola customer for over 11 years. My company has used their products for corporate gift-giving, purchasing many times per year to mark employee anniversaries. Unfortunately, what was once a good, quality brand has totally disintegrated. I visited the Shinola store on Abbot Kinney recently and had one of the poorest customer service experiences ever. One of the employees, Derrick (or Darren), was extremely curt from the start, as if I was disturbing him by merely existing. I had brought a journal to get monogrammed, something we've had done repeatedly over the past years in a specific format. When I gave him an example, he told me to come back in 30 minutes because the person who "does it better" was on a break. I let him know that I had just come from DTLA and didn't have time. He informed me that he could do it (told me he was the manager), but then messed up the folder. Then, to make matters worse, he informed me that the colorway I had wanted was out of stock and that he could do nothing about it, so I had to accept a brown one instead. When I asked for the corporate phone number, since our usual rep no longer works there, his attitude shifted from casual to downright rude. He spoke to me as if I were a total ass and couldn't even be bothered to wrap the merchandise up nicely with a ribbon, something store has done regularly in the past. To make matters worse, Shinola's overall quality has clearly taken a hit over the past year or two. The stitching is inconsistent, colorways disappear without notice, and monogramming options have been reduced. I've even received new products with scratches that the store tried to pass off as "patina." Where is your quality control? This encounter was the final straw. I am no longer going to have my company utilize Shinola corporate gifts. It's clear the company has lost the care and quality that made it special. Terrible customer service. I read the bad reviews on here and expected more from such a large brand. I called the store to ask a simple question about the return and exchange policy and the person I spoke to was extremely rude and kept using disrespectful verbiage when trying to explain. Many brands have very different policy's and most brands will return or exchange product not purchased in company owned stores to go above and beyond for customers. Needless to say the gift I was given will probably be returned for a watch from a company who has better standards. What a bummer of an experience. read more

I needed a battery replacement on my Birdy watch, so I made an appointment online to stop in for the repair. Well.. life happened, and I finally made it in 2 hours late. The kind associate (Craven- sp?) was super understanding, and he got me registered, replaced and out the door in about 20 mins. The website suggested that the watch might need to be dropped off so I was elated to hear that he could do the work right away and on site. Do not get emotionally connected to Shinola watches, they simply don't deserve it. They are not made in America, they are assembled here from pre-fabricated parts coming from China, Japan, and Switzerland. The leather products are good and are made in the USA. There are 1000 better watch brands, Seiko, Hamilton, Tissot, Nomos, Orient, Mr. Jones Watches, Oris, Laco, Movado, Bulova,Tag Heuer, Meistersinger, even Russian brand Vostok, which produce better quality automatic movements at a much cheaper price. Shinola is shamelessly selling cheap quartz movements for three times what they should. Their automatic movements are "average" at best and a $250 Orient divers, or an $800 Seiko prospex divers outperforms their $1500 Seasmonster in every way. Don't buy a Shinola Watch, you'll regret it. Buy their leather and other products. read more

It's a cool brand and fun store to browse. I discovered and bought a very cool pen here (CW&T Pen Type B). Sadly they didn't have any fresh ones in their inventory, but they were able to locate one elsewhere and send it to me. Unfortunately the order was messed up and I got the wrong item, however they were quite apologetic and it all was quickly worked out (including a bonus monogramed notebook for my troubles). I love this store, especially the one on Abbot Kinney! A great variety of watches, bicycles, and leather goods made in Detroit. They display everything well and most of the items are available to touch and feel (you gotta touch leather). The staff here is everything - they are super well trained and knowledgeable about how everything is made and seem to be very happy to work in a place that is hip and has fun music. BONUS: they offer their own craft cola and beer to the customers at no charge. It was still daylight out, so we had sodas which were surprisingly very tasty. read more

Each leather item in the store comes with a little note stating who the artist was that worked on it. The feel of every piece is amazing. I saw some in the window and doubled back to take a look. The beautiful room in the back was stacked with a rainbow assortment. They even do free monogramming on the spot! No one was pushing me to buy anything additionally, but were available for all the questions that I did have as I walked around the store. Best served ever. My fiancé and I were on our mini vacation when we stumbled in. I have always lived an admired Shinola. The store layout is quite beautiful. As we were admiring the products, we were greeted by Jared, who just started having a nice conversation with us. He told us about the product without being pushy. He let us walk around and and try on a few watches. I was admiring the women's version of the watch he was wearing. He let me try it on and gave me his personal experience of the watch. He was attentive and friendly, even through we just said we just there to admire the product. I ended up loving the watch but wanted to sleep on it. We came back the next day to buy the watch. Jared helped us with the purchase and continued took great care to let me know how to care for the watch. He answered all of my questions without ever becoming impatient. Everyone else who worked there were super friendly as well. A few weeks later I received a personalized thank card from him. It left a great ending to our experience!
