Cons: no a/c, no fan , the beach view cabins are no where near the water. One side table and lamp with one usb port. Definitely lacks charm. This is where we say , it's just one night. Update: the tv is huge but the internet Mbps is the lowest I have ever tested, 2 Mbps. XFinity is the remote control. My XFinity at home is 225 Mbps. So the tv shows just freeze then restart After 10 seconds or or so. Over and over. Just one night. Maybe I ll read instead.

Out of the blue she told me that they would "never" enter my room, because there's no maid service. Ok, not great, but I can deal. I immediately found a pair of dirty mens underwear behind the bathroom door. The clerk was embarrassed and apologetic, but it made me figure the room wasn't cleaned very well. Next I tried to sleep on the rock-hard bed. Not pleasantly firm, but hard, yet bouncy. Probably just an old old mattress. I hardly slept and woke up with back and hip pain. So I decided I would probably check out, even though I had paid for a second night. I put all my bags in the car and left, but I didn't turn in the key or speak to any employees. I thought I might go back to rest later. I came back four hours later to find my room being cleaned. I was shocked -- what happened to NEVER entering my room?! The same desk clerk came running out and said, "We thought you were finished with the room!". I asked why, when I had paid for two nights. I asked twice but she would not explain, just kept giggling, saying, "I'm so sorry!". So obviously they went into the room -- but why?! They explicitly said no maid service was offered.

After driving 3 plus hrs, when we tried to check in we were informed by their off site management company, By the Sea, that regardless of our written confirmation we had no reservation or room. Furthermore, Laura, told us, tho off season mid week, and no cars in the parking lot there were no other rooms available. I have never met a more abrasive, unhelpful, hostile person as Laura who hung up on me when I told her that our credit card had been charged for the 3 night stay. With no recourse and no one on site with whom we could talk with to straighten out this mess we had no alternative but to leave. Fortunately a brilliant motel, Moonstone Beach motel was a few blocks away, had an incredibly a helpful front desk clerk, Kate, who wiped my tears and checked us into a beautiful room with similar amenities for less money. My advice, beware of "By the Sea" management company, as it appears our situation is not unique and has had happened multiple times. So forget staying at High Tide and stop a few blocks earlier and stay at the Moonstone Beach Motel. They have wonderful on site management team. Even after he was arrested, the staff was incredibly rude, yelling at my mom and grandparents. Horrible people working here. With a quick glance at the map it looked like there were a few walkable places nearby. I didn't read much about it and mostly just choose it based on price as I just needed a place to sleep for a night, but was pleasantly surprised by what we found. The person working behind the counter was super nice and friendly. I appreciated the info he told us about the surrounding area and the recommendation to go for a sunset walk nearby. I also appreciate that this property has parking spots right in front of your room. The building is an older style, but very quaint. You get actual room keys which are a bit bulky, but sometimes do make me feel more safe than the electronic keys. Everything was clean and in good working order. I had no idea this place had a kitchen, but this allowed me to save some money by having a meal in the room. There is a grocery store located very close. I also really appreciated the bathroom amenities which included a toothbrush and toothpaste which is not something I recall seeing in a hotel anytime in recent years. There's a large grass area out front which children were playing in and people were walking their pets. There's a covered structure that looked ideal for spending time outside in the colder/wetter weather. There's a bar with good food to the left, a brewery with pizza up the road to the right and a Mexican place across the road.

Recently restored building on the town's Main Street, it's the cutest place. I've spent many weekends on the Pacific side of the State this year and have tried area vacation rentals, none as satisfying as this. Yes, there is more space in home rentals, but if you're a party of one or two, I think you'll enjoy the in-room amenities here including mini kitchen, large bath, cable and comfortable bed. Watch for the future wine bar under construction on first floor. The barber shop is already up and running too. Splurging here means $100 a night. There are other rooms for less. I have a huge desire for two strips of beachfront here and if you're smart about it, you'll start visiting Pacific Beach now. This previously neglected community is about to take an upswing. It's Washington State's Cuba. :)

Everything in Ocean Shores is. The price was right for a huge condo, so we went for it. The condo featured a big kitchen that I was able to cook a full dinner in, a large living room with a television, and a huge wrap around deck with views of the water. We also had a bathroom with a full tub and a bedroom with two queen beds. The hotel also has a hot tub and pool. The pool isn't huge but the kids had a great time. They have a movie library where you can check out movies for your room which was appreciated since we couldn't figure out the cable whatsoever. Minor complaints: the cable as mentioned, the beds weren't super comfy, and the kitchen equipment was not in the best condition. That said, we made it all work. We'll definitely return!

Why did we not stay here sooner? From now on Canterbury Inn will be our GO TO place for future stays. We had a studio on the 3rd floor at a very reasonable winter rate. The room was spectacular, as nice as any stateroom we've had on our 6 cruises on Holland America; so naturally we were very comfortable. The room had everything we would need and more; clean and comfortable. Don't even get me started on how comfortable the bed is. I could have spent my entire getaway in that bed had it not been for the beautiful weather. Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. There is a smoking area in the front and rear of the building. Dogs are allowed, but we didn't bring ours on this trip. I cannot say enough how fabulous this place is. Thank you Canterbury staff for a wonderful stay and we'll see you again soon. :) Beverly S Petterson
