Honestly really disappointed with my experience at this salon. I went in asking for a brand new set and right away they told me they would only do a refill because I already had nails from another salon. I usually go to my regular place, but I stopped here because I was short on time and it was on my way. The customer service was bad from the beginning. The refill alone was $70 extra and the work was not worth it at all. The polish was uneven and messy, they didn't even bother showing me the color books -- I had to get up and look for them myself. The lady who did my pedi/gel mani seemed like she didn't want to be there, she skipped steps on my pedicure-scrubbing, cuticle work and filing. For my gel mani she didn't take the time to even out my nails so that the nails on both my hands looked even-actually she skipped filing the nails on my left hand. When she painted my nails her work was very sloppy, she got the top coat on my cuticles/skin on 7 fingers. I was so disappointed I just wanted to get out of the there quick fast but when I got to the car I couldn't stand how bad my nails looked I decided to go back in. I asked her to fix the gel polish that was on my cuticles/skin, and she looked at me and my nails like I did something wrong and then she asked what was wrong with them-like the sloppy nail work she did was not obvious. I don't like this place for the reason it's overpriced for subpar work. All I got was a regular gel manicure no design or anything regular color no rips my own nails and my eyebrows. Well the nails look like crap and my eyebrows were burnt for 2 weeks I had red bumps On My eyebrows. And all this for the low,low,low price of $45. I didn't even get a pedi. Was looking for a last-minute regular manicure and they had availability. Walked in to a decent-looking place, but when I started looking for a polish color on the walls, I noticed a load of dust all over... as if the bottles had been there a while. I was told to sit down at a station, which happened to be the only one that didn't have a arm/elbow pad, which made for an very uncomfortable experience. The guy who did my nails seemed fine. I didn't catch the cost until I went to pay (which they should've had me do prior to polish being put on - I didn't have gel, so it takes longer to dry). I was surprised it was $25 for a regular manicure. However, it's been a while since I've had them done so maybe the price is on target. The worst part is that not 2 days after, my nail polish started chipping HORRIBLY. Not just a little bit in the corner of a nail, but like entire chunks. The person I got was very nice but unfortunately the french gel nail that I got was not. It was my first time getting my nails done here. Before I came in my nails were all the same shape and size. After she was done, my nails were filled shorter on the edges and some of my nails are now thicker than others in gel. The french design on some nails are thick and thin. I have some spots that weren't completely painted too. I felt like this was a bit rushed. Not happy at all. read more

Prior to my visit, I read the reviews and called to make an appointment with Angie and I'm so glad I did. When it comes to my nails I want them just the way I ask. Although I can tell she was getting a little annoyed with me and my continuous questions she still managed to do a great job. Terrible terrible terrible customer service. My daughter literally made an appointment (with any available manicurist) and was told 2:30pm was her appointment. Then told 20 mins upon arrival. No problem. 90 mins and still nothing. Only after I walked up to the counter to find out why a 2:30 appointment had to wait 90 mins and why the receptionist actually doesn't have any respect for a persons time or why other customers who arrived after my daughter (receptionists highschool friend) were seated before my daughter that the owner got up and seated my daughter. Utterly ridiculous. There are so many better places to go. This place is so focused on turn over that they rush through the process; especially pedicures. And signs everywhere reminding you that because of Covid, prices have gone up. Business owners need to learn that customer service is a very valuable factor in customer retention, satisfaction, referrals and even product pricing. Just watched two waiting customers fighting over appointments. And learned that that one had a 3pm appointment and one had a 4pm appointment. The 3pm was seated at 4pm and the 4 pm was seated at 4:20. Apparently, if you get mad and vocal, you get seated immediately. Like having the fast pass at six flags. read more

I was a bit hesitant to try a new nail place but my regular nail salon was closed and I had to get my nails done ASAP. Luckily, Shiny Nailz is open many more hours than most nail salons in East Brunswick and I was able to get an appointment right in time! The salon is quite big but my only complaint is the wait time is a bit excessive. Other than that, their service is great and my nails stay healthy and do not chip for a long time! Making you wait (more than15-20mins) even when you already have an appointment and make it in on time! ridiculous. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a nail salon! You would think getting your nails done by the owner, Angie, would guarantee you the best service but no. She couldn't find the color I wanted, burned my skin applying gel polish (I know it burns slightly but this was worse than normal), my nails are all different shape and different thickness. It took less than 30 minutes to do my nails, no hot towel, no cuticle treatment, literally boom boom done! I usually go to Trish and she is amazing I will never go to anyone else in that salon! Update: Since it won't let me post another review here it is. Went to get eyebrows done (because since last incident I will never get my nails done here). I had one broken nail that I wanted to get fixed. So again Angie comes to do it. First of all they refill their opi bottles with cheap polish! I got my nails done somewhere else with OPI - Got myself into Jam-Balaya which is a flat peach color. I found the bottle on their shelf and wanted to fix my nail before Passover. I asked her to do very thin gel and she says to me "you get your nails done somewhere else, here we don't do thin nail. You can go back to that other nail salon." RUDE! I let it pass, next, she starts paining my nail and the color is darker and has shimmer in it... I swear they are a scam! Do not go there! read more

I started going here for manis & pedis . Although they do good pedis, for acrylics & gel they just couldn't get it right. The owner did my nails once and let me walk out with a crooked nail . I didn't understand how that could happen . On another occasion I booked an appt to fix my nails although I was just in 3 days prior they were just too thick and not what I wanted at all . The owner scheduled me for a time and when I arrived who I was scheduled with was still doing nails . I came in with my son hoping I would be in and out & I had a place to be at 3 . Appt was at 1 . I sat and waited till 1:45 before walking out . Huge waste of time and completely inconsiderate. I returned a few times after & each time my nails are too thick . And I don't understand why or if it's the products etc . I then got a new set of nails hoping that would solve the problem . 3 days later they started to lift . However this nail salon requires appointments yet the last 3 times I've been here I've had to wait 20 plus minutes and this has been very inconvenient for me. Good place to get your nails done. They accept walk in's , which is perfect for me with my schedule. I got a gel manicure and a week out my manicure is still going strong. My manicurist was very good but I did get a cut on my middle finger while she was cutting my cuticles, which drew blood. She was very apologetic and attended to it right away. This was unfortunately the single worst manicure I have ever had. I had a dip powder manicure and my technician got the powder and gel topcoat on my fingertips and had to drill it off after the manicure. She also made my nails lumpy and drilled them to make them smooth which led to very visible discoloration. She also made me keep my hands flexed the entire time and it was so uncomfortable. "MAY" (if they told me the right name after all the drama) was the slightly healthy asian technician who is highly unskilled and unprofessional. She did a gel pedicure for me which was poorly done and believe it or not... i had to beg her to put an extra coat of the polish on my toes becaise it was so translucent!!. She simply refused to give me the service i deserved for the cost!! She conveniently turned a blind ear to my requests and applied the top coat after 2 coats. If i said anything, she threw a fit and blamed me for not understanding nails!! The mood color used on my toes was defective and didnt change color. When i went back the next evening to complain, May was yellling and cursing (in a different language ofcourse) in front of other clients. Thats when i brought up her lack of professionalism amd how she cuts corners on her work! Vivian was asked to change the color on my toes and she was very kind. This salon has a good collection of colors though a tiny area for pedicures...but dont go to "MAY" if u want a nice relaxing spa session rather than a heart attack wid the lack of her skill. read more

I am so appalled. The fact that I was even charged and a bigger idiot for paying and tipping. I feel that it's the holiday season and no sense in being mad so I did the right thing. But this salon is GOD AWFUL!!!! I was never asked If I wanted my nails cut or what shape. She barely filed. I asked her not to cut my cuticles as I have sentive skin. She insisted and said she'd be careful. She nicked me 3 times. Then the 4th time was a huge cut! It bled for almost the entire time. The lady took Zero responsibility. I saw her go away from the cuticle and go toward my skin when it was cut. She blamed me and told me I must have diabetes !!! Are you kidding me ?!?! I'm sorry if you are careless and cut someone that badly-they must have diabetes ?!?! She's like no one bleeds like that. Ummm yes, when you cut someone they bleed ! I'm mad that they still charged me !!! As a business owner myself I would NEVER charge ! She tried to stop my bleeding with nail glue. Are you kidding me ! Pretty terrible work also. My nails are half painted on many nails. At least make it right by correcting the situation. Thanks for my Christmas nails that have to be redone. Advice is to train your staff. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO GET WAXED ESPECIALLY BIKINI/BRAZILIAN!!! I went here about 6 months ago for a Brazilian and I experienced a horrible visit and here's why: 1. NO GLOVES!!????!??!!!! 2. The lady (Angie) double dips the popsicle stick in the wax. 3. She used the wax that needed those soft paper strips which is never good for the pubic area, HARD WAX IS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO. 4. After ripping off each section she blew on my pubic area with her face really close???!!!?!?!? 5. You get rubbed down with oil on a ROUGH PAPER TOWEL after the hair removal which is very uncomfortable to the sensitive skin. Now I know I have very thick hair so bleeding is normal, but the amount of blood she wiped off onto a paper towel was ridiculous, there were STREAKS. I had over a hundred little red dots. I'm surprised I didn't get some kind of infection. Never again will I go here for a wax but I do love coming here for my nails, Angie is a amazing at nails but for waxing you can tell they aren't professionals. read more
