Vivian and Evelyn were amazing! A couple friends and I were feeling impulsive and NEEDED tattoos. We didn't have an appointment set so we tried calling a bunch of places but kept getting hit with 1 hour wait times. I found this place on yelp and decided to give them a call on and as soon as Vivian told me that they didn't have anything planned all night, we rushed over immediately! We didn't even know this shop was located inside the Stratosphere until the map led us to the parking garage. The shop is located on the second floor near the McDonald's and Fat Tuesday. For my tattoo I pulled up a quick photo of a butterfly (basic I know) to reference and Vivian was so chill (has a BOMB personality and tattoos) and quick to draw up a stencil. I watched her tattoo me the whole time and it was fascinating to watch her work! She is so steady and is AMAZING at what she does. So I walk into this shop about 8:30pm on a Friday to get a small quote from grandmother tattooed on my thigh.. 7 words, in fancy cursive on the front of my thigh... Without asking me for details or even size they quoted me 400 dollars. I'm covered neck to toes in tattoos and have a really good of how long a tattoo takes and what sort of cost to quality ratio to demand/expect.. This tattoo would have taken an hour TOPS to "design" (read as: type out, print out, transfer paper, transfer to leg, prepare station. And an hour to tattoo. So two hour tops and maybe 200. The artist I spoke with wasn't interested in negotiating or even discussing the size of the piece. I can't speak to their quality or speed and that's why they get 3 stars. They lose one star for price. And one star for communication. read more

I realize they deal with mostly drunk people and are in a mediocre casino, so no one is expecting magnificent art or even skill but you're still getting paid to provide a service with tips based on at least some personality instilling confidence and a bit of effort. So to act as if a burden when bringing someone in for their first tattoo that requires no more than 15 minutes from drawing to finish you could act like it wasn't a burden and maybe even give them a decent experience to remember. read more

I was hoping to get a great tattoo so when the artist told me what he wanted to do and said $400 my expectations were high. It seems like after I had to pay first, I got rushed thru and got more of an outline then a $400 dollar tattoo. Some of the lettering is incorrect and faded. Some of the line look rushed. I reach out to the company and the ask me to send pictures of my expectation vs my tattoo so I sent them pictures and they never got back with me. I got tattooed here because it had great reviews and it was convenient. My regular tattoo artist didn't have enough time to give me two tattoos but i really wanted two. I got one from him and got one here. HUGE mistake. it is just frustrating because if the person doesn't think they can do the tattoo they shouldn't say yes. This is permanent, i cant wash it off. Now im stuck with this crappy looking tattoo. I haven't even shown anyone the tattoo since im embarrassed by it. I will post it here for you can see all the things im referring to. The first thing that annoys me is the bottom where it says welcome to miami. The background should be blue but now it looks like patches. its my skin color with pink lettering and blue around it. The c looks smaller than all the other letters. One side is light blue the other is dark blue almost black. one side has a yellow piece by it the other doesn't. The inside of the globe has this dark red and black over the dolphins which looks horrible. the sand should be brown but looks black. I am giving it more time to heal and hopefully the inside of the globe wont look as bad like I got punched a million times. The only good thing about the tattoo is the dolphins and the waves they do look great but everything else looks horrible. The stencil looked awesome but the color and shading is what i dont like. I didn't look until the tattoo was done, I know big mistake. I think if the artist was unsure of what I wanted they should have asked questions. Like hey should I shade in the globe black ? It was pricey which I wouldn't care if I loved the tattoo. ****waiting to see if the shading looks better once it heals will post another picture. read more

This is not a review on the tattoos. I'm sure the work is quality, hence the stars. But this is a review on the extremely rude customer service and interaction we just had with one of the employees. I really wish I would've asked for his name so I could put it here. My friend got her a nose ring that is too small and hurting her nose, so we're like cool there's a tattoo shop inside of the hotel, let's go there. We called before coming, and the shop was empty. So I was just like "we called about changing her nose ring" and both employees looked at us for a solid 5 seconds like we were stupid. With an attitude, he finally says "um what did you need me to do again" so she explains it. The attitude persists, and he proceeds to rudely explain that the nose ring is too small, so that's why it's too tight. Even after that, she still agreed to get it removed by him. So he starts getting out the paperwork. It's $20 just to remove the piercing. Mind you, my friend is sweetly speaking to him in a low voice the ENTIRE TIME. As soon as she questions him on the $20 removal (not in a rude way) he gets loud with her and starts talking about how it's $20 because he has to take out tools and blah blah blah. Okay. That's fine... but still. Why the attitude? She had also left her extra nose ring in the room, and he was going to charge her ANOTHER $20 just to PUT IT IN BECAUSE SHE WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE AND GO BACK AND GET IT. Wtf? I have to wonder what his problem truly was. Is it because we are black women? I really hope not, but in this day and age, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm very disturbed by how this place has no problem talking to customers extremely poorly. 0/5 stars. Literally the worst service I have ever seen or experienced at a tattoo shop, and I have several tattoos and piercings. The work may be good, but it's not worth giving your money to complete and total pricks. Also, after we left this place, we called Rock One's Golden Skull tattoo. It's just a short walk from The Strat, but the area is very sketchy so if you go at night take an Uber. Anyway, they were INSANELY professional and kind and told her that they'll take it out for FREE as they don't want jewelry embedded into anyone's face. Save your money and go to people who are kind, respectful, and genuinely care about the well being of their clients instead of patronizing them like they do at Ship & Anchor. read more

I was nervous and he was very calm and professional. I went there for multiple sessions after that and at the end of each session he made sure to walk me through the healing process! My artist sucked. He seemed amateur. I went in for a henna finger tattoo and it was a different design then I wanted. I confronted him about it and he said that he thought it looked better the way he drew it. Trusting his judgement, I let him tattoo me. Every line on my tattoo is shaky. The dots are uneven. The lines are crooked. My tattoo is HORRIBLE. I paid $120 thinking it was more expensive for great quality work, but basically I got robbed. I do not recommend going to this place. Let me start off by saying that I'm TERRIFIED of needles. I can't do shots or anything. I was staying at the stratosphere with my friends this weekend. After walking by, I made the joke that we should all get tattoos. I knew what I wanted, but I was always afraid to do it. The men in this shop were really awesome. They explained the entire process to me and showed me that everything was sterile and top quality. After thinking it over, I went for it. I honestly couldn't be happier. I love looking at my tattoo. On July 4th we got wedding ring tattoos simple design Celtic knot no coloring no shading every line on my wife tattoo except for one has blown out so the whole inside is black with ink my tattoo is crooked with a couple lines blown out one side is bigger than the other we went the next day to have him look at him and he said all just let him heal well it's been almost two and a half weeks now my wifes still looks like crap now of course we could not go back to have it corrected but for almost every single line to blow out seems a little excessive are tattoo artists I Learned was an apprentice which we were not told we learn this after the tattoos were done my father-in-law got a tattoo on his forearm same day a skull with the American flag in it he's going to have to pay 450 to $500 to get his tattoo covered because all the color has bled out lines were crooked we are going to have to spend about another $200 for a simple Celtic knot to get fixed and look good so just be careful would not recommend this place read more

I recently went and got my nose pierced as well as my tattoo touched up that I got done a year ago there and they said they would touch up for free. He did. But also only did the black and didn't touch up the color so I'm gonna have to go somewhere again to get it touched up. It wasn't a very enjoyable experience and if his attitude was better I probably would of gave him a fat tip. It was 60 to get my noise pierced with jewelry and the jewelry is so cheap and so small you can't even tell. I think getting a tattoo or piercing is a enjoyable experience and it was not. This shop is awesome! Leo is my artist and he is great! Very knowledgable and friendly, and always does exactly what I ask for. I have been getting tattooed regularly for 14 years and Leo is the only artist I will let touch my skin since I found him 5 years ago! The other artists are very welcoming and by the looks of their portfolios can execute any style of tattoo you can imagine. Was priced fair, was able to get in and out quickly, thought by its location I'd be gouged for a tattoo. But after shopping around town for a bit it turned out to be the best price for a safe professional tattoo. A lot of the artists I talked to in Vegas were asshats and were clearly going to do whatever they wanted where ever they wanted on me as far as a tattoo went and charge me through the nose or doing them in a back alley with crusty equipment. While on my trip to Vegas, I decided to get a tattoo. Right off the bat, Steve was nice and polite. I wasn't very sure of the design I wanted but with ideas in mind, he drew it up in about 20 minutes. For my first tattoo, I must say he has a very light hand, it did not hurt AT ALL, just a bit of discomfort. It wasn't the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The tattoo came out beautiful and Steve was hilarious. He even stayed past his shift just to attend me. For line work and writing, I totally completely recommend Jesse, i believe he's the only one with gauges in his ears. Hands down, best writing I've seen ever (which made me nervous bc #1-its vegas and #2-the shops open 24/7). The minimum base pay is $100 and then goes up from there.
