I am filing a complaint against Ship Auto Now LLC regarding deceptive business practices and interference with my efforts ship my vehicle. May 2026, I contracted with Ship Auto Now LLC and worked with broker James Brown to arrange transportation for my truck. Mr. Brown quoted me a shipping price of $1,150, which was within my budget. However, after 12 days, he was unable to locate a driver willing to transport at that price. Because of the delay, I requested a refund of my deposit so I could work with another transportation company. Mr. Brown became upset and stated that I would receive my refund within 3-4 business days. During that same conversation, he told me he would place an alert on my truck so that no driver would accept it from another company. I did receive my refund, but after I began working with another auto transport company, I discovered that on May 29, 2026--the same day I requested the refund--Ship Auto Now LLC posted my truck on the industry load board for $2,500 under Ship Auto Now LLC's name. The posting included my truck information, origin and destination pickup of June 12, 2026 or later. I have screenshots of the load board posting as evidence. This posting directly contradicts the $1,150 quote I was originally given. It appears that the company knew the actual market rate was approximately $2,500 and still quoted an unrealistically low price to secure my business. Furthermore, the load board posting remained active after I terminated my agreement and requested a refund, creating obstacles for other brokers attempting to arrange transportation for my vehicle. I believe Ship Auto Now LLC engaged in misleading pricing practices and intentionally interfered with my ability to obtain transportation services from another company. I request that BBB investigate this matter and hold the company accountable for these actions. I had a TERRIBLE experience with Ship Auto Now when I shipped my car from CA to MN. I found this company online and went with them because their quote of $700 was the lowest i received. About 3 hours before my car was scheduled to be picked up on 8/11, the owner Bob calls to tell me that the new price is $1375 (technically $1575 but I already paid the $200 deposit when I first made the reservation). He said that a lot of his employees were deported and he was short staffed. While I feel for him, his being understaffed isn't my problem nor is it an excuse to raise the price significantly the day my car was to be picked up. He should have called me the Friday before to let me know of this change so I could call other companies for a more affordable price. Initially I was told the car would take 4 days to ship so I was expecting it to arrive on August 15th. I tried contacting the driver and dispatcher for an eta but no response. After one of these people returns my call, he said the car won't arrive tomorrow. I called Bob who said the car won't arrive until 8/22! I was upset because if I was told the car wouldn't arrive on 8/15, I wouldn't have gone with them. Though I realized I overlooked the date in the new contract, at no point was Bob apologetic about the major inconvenience of not having my car before my first day of work (8/18). He knew I needed the car by the 18th. As a result, I had to rent a car and booked my reservation with Budget until the 22nd. On 8/20, I got a call from Bob that my car arrived. Since I was going to be gone for a few hours on the 15th, I gave the address of someone I knew who would be available. This person got a text that the car arrived and was confused. I told him that he or one of his staff should have called me yesterday to let me know the car would be delivered tomorrow. I reminded him that arranged a rental car until 8/22 because that's when he said the car would arrive and that it's unacceptable to not give me any notice when there's a change in schedule. He said he had no idea but at this point it really felt like excuses. Again, NO APOLOGY for the inconvenience and lack of communication. He misses the mark on basic customer service skills necessary to run and stay in business. I asked for the car to be delivered at work, which they said they could do. Although there was some communication issues with the driver due to a language barrier, I did get my car. The icing on the cake is that Bob had the audacity to ask me for a 5 star review the day after he raised the price!! Ship Auto Now cheats, takes advantage of first time car shipping customers like myself, and does not honor both the financial and timing commitments. Based on the previous reviews and overall rating of 1.4 on Yelp, I clearly am not the only person whose had a bad experience. I had to repeatedly confirm dates and when I was confirmed for 9/9 all of a sudden the driver was not able to get his truck. Then his drivers license was suspended. I am not a novice at arranging shipping for vehicles as I have shipped cars at least three if not four times to my children when they were in college. This experience with ShipAutoNow was nothing but a nightmare. This outfit held the shipping of my daughter's brand new vehicle hostage unless I paid a cancellation fee of $100.00 via Venmo. They refused to move me off the board which would enable me to find another auto shipper who would be reputable. I was quoted $375.00 to ship from the SF Bay Area to the Seattle area. I confirmed by text that the price was firm on Saturday, May 11 and it was confirmed text that the price was firm. I was asked to pay $125.00 to them with the balance to be paid to the driver in cash on May 13. I later discovered they charged my card $150.00 which I ultimately disputed with my bank which was the only way I was able to obtain the refund from them. Monday the 13th arrives and I start receiving text messages from Sonya with excuses as to why a driver will not be at my home to pick up the new car (only 9 miles on it) and then the surprise that the price is increasing by triple. Then it was like a hustle after that with a bunch of calls from Sonya, a bunch of promises for a new driver, an insistence that I work out another arrangement regarding their "cancellation fee" and the saga went on and on thereafter. Finally, I had enough that I was put in a position to not be able to get them to refund my money and take me off the board so I could engage another shipper that two other family members agreed to drive her new EV to the Seattle area and put on over 800 miles to her new car. The other issue with Sonya was that via text I confirmed that the would be shipping from the SF Bay Area to the Seattle area and she completely screwed this up by having the locations reversed and then blamed me for not reading the estimate but this goes to her incompetence. Initially, everything was fine and I signed an email agreeing to a set total price of $900. The first red flag was that they requested I make a $200 deposit to hold my spot via cash app to $mansin username. They sent me a confirmation text message stating they received the money and sent me a receipt. I then received a text message the day before the pickup was scheduled stating that the new total price would be $1550 and stated "if we considered the driver's view it's just $0.15 per mile." I immediately requested the deposit back and they ignored my request and kept urging me to use their company. I ended up having to block their number along with a "supervisors" number still urging me to use their company. I honestly did not want to go through this company after this situation due to the fear of them wrecking my car. The way they spoke to me was beyond unprofessional and not even addressing my request was the most frustrating thing. They then stated that other companies would ask for the same amount anyway to justify them marking up the price significantly the day before. I did try to request money through $Manson on CashApp for a refund however, their requests had been turned off. That seems so sketchy to me. So now I am out $200 and should have gone with the more expensive company to begin with. I was told by the company I had gone through they would NEVER ask for a deposit via CashApp and would ALWAYS take care of the customer before wiping customers of their money.
