I hope this is the same Montway Auto Transport we used. Ours was based in Illinois, not NYC. Same company? We had a great experience with ours. We needed to have a Toyota Camry brought out from the East Coast to California and I found Montway based on a suggestion from ChatGPT, which was in turn based on reviews it had aggregated from online. To be honest I was expecting to encounter some form of hassle but I never did. I've read reviews on google that said it was difficult to get human support but I don't know why those people had that experience because I had to call them about a half a dozen times with different questions and I got a human being who answered my questions clearly and succinctly every time. Yes they have an AI chatbot that was never able to help me with anything but it only took 30 seconds to get past it to a person so that was never a problem for me. There were no tricks to their pricing, they were totally flexible when I changed the pick up location to a completely different state and didn't charge me any more for the change. The driver was fantastic and really worked with us to coordinate pick up and drop off. The drivers are private contractors so I can't say if they are all equally good but our guy (Jay) was great. the WORST trucking broker. i tried to confirm 100 times that the truck could make it to martha's vineyard. the company routinely said that it ensure that it could pickup the vehicle on island. i tried to confirm if a ferry had been booked as these are almost impossible to get if not booked in advanced during peak summer times. i had a 3 day pickup window + when still nothing was confirmed on the last day of the window, i had to cancel. only the next day did someone reach out to say that it could pickup the car 4 days after the promised date, which meant delivered to florida 3 days after my arrival. I booked Montway to ship my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport from Texas to New York. There were red flags at pickup, but I still went through with it -- and I regret it. The carrier they assigned delivered my vehicle at night, which I now believe was done intentionally to hide damage. The next day I found: * Visible pillar damage (possibly structural) * Permanent marker stains on the driver's leather seat When I filed a claim, Montway offered me $624.05 -- but only if I signed a release agreement that, in my view, was an attempt to silence me and take away my right to speak openly about my experience. The agreement would have: * Prohibited me from discussing what happened * Prevented me from filing complaints with agencies like the FMCSA * Blocked me from pursuing additional compensation if more damage was discovered later They also refused to give me the carrier's insurance information, even after I asked repeatedly. It felt like they waited for the cheapest carrier instead of honoring the schedule. They were also one of the more expensive quotes but came recommended by the seller so I used them thinking I was going to get amazing service. I am writing this review for people who, like me, never had to ship a car long distance. This was the second transport company that I contacted to transport a vehicle for me from Tennessee to Louisiana. The factor that made my situation unique is that I was not available to be present at the pickup or drop-off locations as I don't live in LA or TN. The first company gave me scam vibes. They wanted a $100 deposit to be sent via Zelle, CashApp or PayPal. This was two red flags at once. I was going to oblige because it was only $100. The third and final red flag was that the representative wanted me to send the deposit via PayPal as a friend. I immediately stopped communicating with him at that point. This is when I did a Google search and reached out to Montway. Like most reputable company's I wasn't charged a deposit until a truck was dispatched for pickup. I was sent a notification for the dispatch as well as the invoice where the card that I had on file was charged for the deposit. I received another email when the vehicle was picked up with an estimated delivery date. The process was simple and easy. I contacted them on a Tuesday or Wednesday, the vehicle was pickled up on Friday and delivered by Saturday morning. The only issue, which is minor, is that they wanted a business or certified check at drop off. That's understandable. This issue was resolved. I would have personally payed with a money order, but my mother was in charged of that. All in all, I recommend this company to those who are inexperienced and the process. The pricing was comparable to other companies. As the saying goes, You get what you pay for." On May 20 I received quotes from Montway, Sherpa, STG and American auto shipping to ship my auto from California to New York. The prices ranged from $1200 to $1600. I was on a tight schedule, and I needed a guarantee pick up on 8/1/24 to be delivered before 8/13. This trip usually takes 7-9 days as confirmed by all the companies I spoke to. I have done business with Montway before, so I chose them to do the transport. In order to get the guarantee pick up, it would cost me an extra $800 so the final price was $2000. I stressed to each individual I chatted with or spoke to at Montway that I was going away, and I needed the delivery no later than 8/13/24. I chatted with Monty, Eric and Antonio. Spoke to David, Ethan, Samuel, and Dennis. They all said it would take 7-9 days so not to worry about it since I needed it delivered before 8/13/24. I was told they would contact me a day or 2 before 8/1/24 or at least 3-4 hours before they would come to pick up the car. I called on July 31 and the morning of August1 and the representative still had no idea of when the car was being picked up. I was shocked when they called 15 minutes before picking up my car on 8/1/24. Very unprofessional. This was only the beginning. On 8/5/24 (5 days later) they emailed me and stated they picked up my car and it's on its way to New York. I was on the phone immediately and the representative said the car would arrive around 8/14 to 8/16. I told them this is totally unacceptable since I will be away for 2 weeks. They came back and said it is out of their hands since it takes 7-9 business days to deliver, and it is within their reasonable time frame. I spoke to 2 supervisors Nadia and Pierce and they were not helpful at all. Stating repeatedly that they are within their timeframe. Remember I started this process back in May. They said they would try to get the car to us by 8/12/24 but making no promises. I said Montway would have to store my car until I get back since I couldn't get someone to pick up the car at such short notice. They gave me a hard time about the storage in NY. Meanwhile, it was no problem to store my car in CA for 5 days. I can't tell you how stressful and frustrating this whole situation was. On 8/13/24, Nadia suggested I go and pick up my car at the transport hub. I told her I paid close to $800 extra for a guarantee pick up with door-to-door delivery. If I was to pick it up myself (1 hour away and I would need another driver to go with me) I wanted to be compensated $200 for my time and effort. I thought this was a fair amount considering how much they messed up. She said she'd get back to me but ultimately the answer was no. On 8/13/24, I was contacted by Leo the last transport company within the system, and he told me the car was at the depot and will be delivered on 8/14/24. I told him I will be gone, and he will have to store it. He told me the car had been at his place since 8/12/24 and he had no idea the car had to be delivered by 8/13/24. If he knew I needed the car no later than 8/13/24 he would have planned for it to be delivered. To make a long story short, he agreed to deliver the car to me that day. Nadia called me later that day 8/13/24 after the car was in my possession and ask me what I wanted to do. She had NO CLUE that it was already delivered by Leo. I had to make my own arrangement with Leo the final transport company to get my car. Basically they LOST my car. What a sign of incompetence. Their motto is "transport with us and have peace of mine." What a JOKE! I was stressed out for a week. I had to make my own final arrangements to get my car delivered before I left! Montway basically told me anything I wanted to hear from the beginning to get my business and didn't do much to help me after I paid them. They took my money and left me to sort things out on my own. Their website stresses how important it is to get a bill of lading. I spoke to several representatives plus Nadia the supervisor, that I never received one. She told me it will be emailed to me. It's been a month since they picked up my car on 8/1/24. I haven't received it yet. Is it really that difficult to get a copy for me!! There were a lot of other things they did wrong but then this review would just go on and on. I would give them 1 star out of 10 since I did receive the car but their incompetence in this whole matter is off the scale. They are impossible to get through to on the phone but always offer their "live agents" which must be bots. I gave reasonable pick up dates and drop off dates with much flexibility. Specific on when I needed my car picked up. They did not pick it up on time and then said I'm the one who requested a later date pick up (ie the bots messing my shipment). Therefore I had to pay a lot of money to house my car in a parking lot and leave it in LA to be picked up 4 days after I flew out. Then they had the audacity to demand more money than the arrange price to pick up my car. So obviously I had no option than to say yes because I had left LA and needed my car in NY. I recently hired Montway Auto Transport to transport my car from Tucson to Minnesota. This was the most frustrating experience of my life. We paid a premium for premium service which basically means they pick up your car on a certain day. That is all they guarantee. My car was picked up late in the evening and was sent to a storage facility where it sat. I waited over 2 weeks with little communication from Montway. When i called they just told me that they were working on it. They told me that they fulfilled their guarantee and didn't guarantee any sort of time line on when car was delivered. Finding a car transport company online is a minefield. I did a ton of research and there are a bunch of horror stories. I was apprehensive about all of them, and Montway were actually one of the more expensive options. The whole process was seamless. The driver turned up on the day as planned in LA on Thursday and the car arrived in NY on Monday. No damage, no hidden costs, the price quoted was what I paid. Montway dropped our cars off in another state where they sat for days to be picked up. The premium same day delivery we paid for was 2 days late. A partial reimbursement was made but they refused to pay for the rentals 2 days prior to moving and 4 days after. To top this off, our cars had an additional 83 miles on them and it was evident more than one passenger were in the cars. My experience was excellent! I moved from Queens NY to California. I used the online estimator to get a ballpark cost. Then I called and we set a pickup window starting the very next day. On the next day, late afternoon, I received a call saying they would be picking up. Later that evening, they called, we went to my parking garage, took photos, signed online, and they drove off. They provided an initial delivery date, and in fact that was the date it arrived. They delivered my car to my friends house, he told me the driver called when he was 2 hours away. He parked the truck nearby, because it's too big for his condo development. But he walked to the corner, and drove my car to his house. No issues. When we flew in the next day, my car was there! I called to get a quote for the order. The guy i spoke to John would not talk to me further unless i provided my credit card information and kept insisting on it. Knowing i was backed by my company i did it anyway. After speaking to john and discussing orders i never received any docutmentation or anything to sign or confirmation for my order. After being sketched out i called back an hour later and made sure to cancel any further business with them. John said it was okay because my car was not dispatched or assigned a driver yet. HOWEVER two days later my card is charged and i receive emails without my name on it saying i have been charged and my driver is assigned. I called right away and they said i shouldnt worry. Then i get a call back saying they checked the recordings and i did not cancel my order (which i didnt make to begin with) However they did not check the call where i cancelled. When i provided the date and time of the call all of a sudden they got very distant and cant seem to find that phone call. Suspect business with sketchy practices AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. EDIT: i was reached out by robert and they resolved the issue. However it took days of phone calls, heresay and back and forth just to finally get something done. This company does not have their own trucks. Not a bad thing, however, the trucks they do use are not background checked nor is their insurance or DOT credentials verified. How do I know this? I found out the hard way. They damaged my car. Carriers name and number was not the carrier that moved my car. They sub-contracted the work to a carrier that was very poor and very unprofessional. When I called to start my claim they blocked my number and hung up once they found out it was me. You must take them to court. What a pain in the ARSE.
