The indoor seating is in an old greenhouse, which gives the whole place a quirky, laid-back coastal feel. Best of all, they're dog friendly! Sassy was welcome, which is always a huge plus for us when we're traveling. Great seafood, friendly atmosphere, casual vibe, and a cool setting. The first food type that this casual fresh seafood eatery advertises is Fish & Chips (is even part of the business name. See pic). The French fries (aka British for chips) in my Fried Scallop Full Order basket were cooked just right & plentiful. The scallops were plump and mouth watering! Fresh Coleslaw tasted like it was made that day too. My lunch time desire for seafood made me order a cup of their creamy Clam chowder. Every spoon full had a piece of yummy clam and potatoes were cooked perfectly as well. Because we had driven leisurely to Astoria from Portland Oregon, my appetite was huge. So I ordered their Onion Rings and they were fried to perfection. The order taker, food runners and any staff we encountered, were super courteous and attentive to our requests & first time dining questions. I wanted to love this fish as I have seen so many good reviews. I didn't. The quality was there but way too much batter to the point of being soggy. The fries didn't have much taste. The tartar is amazing and I enjoyed the coleslaw as well. Maybe the other items are amazing. I would come back to try them and the chowder. Setvice is good. Counter ordering and then table delivery. I've had fish and chips in a lot of places, and honestly, I'm usually left a little disappointed. Ship Out Fish & Chips was the exception. The place is a little tucked away, but it's absolutely worth finding. I ordered the halibut, and it was fantastic--perfectly cooked, flaky, and full of flavor. My mother-in-law had the cod, which was really good too, but after trying both, the halibut was the clear winner. The fries were great, but the biggest surprise was the coleslaw. we must've been here on an off night. all the reviews are good, however we had a very bad experience. there was almost no one there, and our order took almost 30 minutes. all of our fish was over cooked and extremely dry. that being said, the portions are extremely huge and easily splittable between two maybe even three people. We had a party of 8, and they managed to serve us all in about 15 minutes. We tried the cod, halibut, shrimp, fries, and burgers. Thumbs-up all around with hardly a crumb left in any basket. We found ourselves in Warrenton at lunchtime today and stopped by the funky Ship Out. Is it a good cart? Is it a sit down restaurant? Yes to both! You order at a food cart and sit down in a generous greenhouse type shelter which also sells funky wall decorations, mugs, beach bric-a-brac. A fountain in the middle of the eating area sounded beautiful mingled with the sound of bird sing in the partially open roof. We were greeted by a friendly young woman behind the high window of the cart. Both my companion and I ordered halibut fish and chips. We are glad we did! I consider myself a fish and chips connoisseur and these were some of the best I've had. The halibut was flaky and perfectly cooked. The batter was light and flavorful and properly greasy. The French fries were also incredible--crispy and perfect. Both the fish and the chips were steaming hot when they were delivered to our table. The servings were generous. The side of coleslaw was fresh and tasty. The meals were not inexpensive, but both of us were glad we sprang for these. I was skeptical about this place as it was out of our way on the road back to Washington from the Oregon Coast, and then found out at the register that they don't sell beer 8-). Unique that they served them with cocktail sauce and lettuce. First time ever that we have experienced lettuce in an oyster shooter. The clam chowder had good dill flavor with lots of clams. For me, Ship Out left a lot to be desired. It is a pretty cool little food cart with a lot of seating area on the coast. I got the clam chowder and halibut/prawn combo. The clam chowder is very runny. I prefer a thicker soup. The flavor was decent with a lot of stuff to eat in it. The fish and prawns were not my favorite. The fish batter was very thick but also soggy on the bottom. The batter was also pretty bland. The prawns are nice and big but batter lets them down again. Service was not really a thing here. Kicking myself for not finding this little gem earlier! If you like batter fried fish like I do then this is a great place to get it! Several seafood options; halibut, cod, shrimp even calamari. We ordered a halibut basket, a shrimp basket and 3 pieces of calamari, and I had to try their clam chowder. There is a large covered area here to dine in, with TONS of kitsch and local artists items to view or buy. I love that most everything is served in earth-friendly packaging! Even the clam chowder came in all-paper container!!! Thank you, Ship Out, for caring for the earth. The batter fried items perfectly cooked. I am guessing the batter is the same for everything. The fries were yummy and I think used corn starch to give it that extra texture. The clam chowder was on the too salty side, but lots of clams and goodies and not overly thick broth. Lots better than chowders that seem to get favored by tourist rags. I think the saltiness had to be a one-off, so will try again. Prices are in line with comparable spots. Friendly quick service.
