They take reservations and as a party of 6, that's a nice start. Staff was very friendly and the food was some of the best we had in PEI.

Stopped for lunch after doing the Red Sands Shore drive in the morning. The restaurant is family owned and includes a separate bakery with local PEI favorites like date bars and cinnamon donuts. The menu has a lot of variety. We shared the mussels and fish tacos. The mussels were cooked perfectly. Served in a delicious broth with a piece of crunchy, buttery garlic bread. There were two fish tacos with two huge pieces of perfectly cooked breaded haddock with green salsa and pickled cabbage. The menu also included numerous dessert choices, cocktails, wine, and beer. Limited menu but great food. Very generous fish in fish taco. My wife had mussels with a large piece of garlic bread. Service was friendly, polite and efficient. We sat inside but they had both a screened patio and an open patio available. They offered beer and wine but my health prevents me from enjoying it. The desert was excellent puff pastry with lemon filling also generous. If you like sea food al fresco you should try this establishment. read more

Very disappointed with the two items we ordered here: brisket came smothered in a gravy accompanied by fries as a main dish. Substituted boiled potatoes for the fries as there was no accompanying vegetable offering.and was looking for a less fatty substitute. This was a great dinner pick. We had three entrees and the clam chowder. All perfectly cooked. Ribeye special was excellent. The lobster roll had big chunks of lobster with garlic butter on the outside of the lightly toasted roll. The salad had a creamy lemon basil dressing that complemented the fresh greens nicely. read more

Excellent! Best seared Salmon maybe ever. Caught wild, fresh, and a perfect caper sauce. Superior clam chowder - lots of flavor. Very nice jerk riblets. Great sweet potato fries. If you're from the US, tacos up here are more like wraps. Nachos - served with regular potato chips, not corn chips. However, the potato chips are homemade, and are so wonderful. Dessert was very good as well. Service - great! Canadian service is always so nice. A few nice local beers to choose from, as well as your typical bottle selections. This was by far the best fish and chips that we had in the Maritime. Crispy, fresh and delicious with great service. They had just opened for the season and they have new owners. They are certainly doing it right. And the vegan chocolate mousse was amazing. As a no dairy person I really appreciated the fact that they had a vegan dessert that was so delicious. read more

Came here for a late lunch. Apparently dinner is busy and may require you to wait. We had some great malpeque oysters with some prosecco to start, followed by mussels for me and crab cakes for my bf. I just got back from vacation on PEI and was lucky enough to dine twice at Ship to Shore Restaurant & Lounge. From start to finish our dining experience was flawless. Starting with their excellent chef who pays attention to details, delivering fresh tasting, delicious meals with a little bit of creative flair. Service was on the ball, very friendly, attentive and efficient. Multiple dining areas are available, whether you want to eat inside their spacious, clean restaurant, or out on one of their 2 patios (covered and uncovered) which treats you to beautiful views of the gorgeous town of Darnley. For the quality of food and drink we were served, it was amazing to see that their prices were extremely reasonable. It's safe to say this will be the first restaurant I go back to next time I'm on the Island! read more

Chowder was great and the chicken wings were cooked to perfection. Bacon wrapped dates were soggy, fish tacos left something to be desired. The deep fried bread pudding was missing the pudding but it did come with great whipped cream, ice cream and fresh blueberries. Service was great. read more

Ship to Shore was suggested by a PEI friend while visiting. I had not heard of it before and prior to visiting it was suggested by a NB chef to me as well. Well, how can I refuse? The simplistic and unpretentious website was already a winner for me. I loved the way the menu was presented, the prices, and the offerings. I had looked at a ton of online menus for restaurants all around the Summerside area and they seemed generic, boring, and designed by culinary co-op students and dumb tourists. I didn't know it was going to be so busy at Ship to Shore so we arrived without a reservation. What a big mistake! Don't arrive at peak times without one is my best advice. However, we were really lucky, and they had a cancellation tonight. The co-owner/bartender/oyster shucker John (who I recognized after watching video clips from their website when Regis and Kelly were in PEI) handled the three tables that all entered at the same time with ease and efficiency. His young staff is very attentive to the customers, and to his management. I was quite impressed by the hands-on management. Once seated, fresh water, bread, and butter greeted us. The bread was artisen, and had a chive or onion flavour, and it was quite delicious. It was substantial without being dense. Our server took our drink orders quickly. Me, a glass of Gahan Red that I didn't have high expectations for because Red beer never really means anything as it is not really a style but a colour. It was, however, quite good and had a balanced malt and hop character. The lady ordered a glass of one of the cheaper white wines. The beer was $4.25 plus tax and the wine $5.50 plus tax. For starters we went with some oysters. After questioning the server about which oysters would be best as there are several to choose from, she said that co-owner's John farms some oysters in the bay that we could see from the restaurant and they are huge, at $3 per oyster. The other oysters are cheaper. They were huge as she promised and sweet as an ocean breeze. Condiment options were vinegar, cocktail sauce, and lemon. I really liked the cocktail sauce but really, with all the liquor in each oyster, they are terrific on their own. We also ordered mussels, from the other co-owner's operation, I assumed. Last night we went to their other restaurant, The Black Horse BBQ & Grill, and ordered mussels in a spicy tomato sauce. I thought this sauce didn't allow for the mussels to speak on their own so this time we went for the basic Island Mussel option that came with an order of fresh-cut fries. Awesome is just one compliment I can give this dish. The fries were near perfect as any fresh-cut fry can be with perfect seasoning, colour, and texture. The mussels, abundant, and fresh, were some of the best I've ever had. Then, we split a main, Halibut, grilled (not deep fried), with fresh veg, and we picked a side as a baked mash. Well, it was a large serving, but not huge. $31 is the price, the menu says it is worth it. Maybe it is, I'd like to compare it with some of the other fish dishes at around $20 that are probably delicious as well. So yeah, the halibut was seasoned perfectly, seared with the proper crust/browness and had a touch of lemon juice squeezed on it. The veggies were fresh beans (yellow and green), carrots (baby and orange and purple), chard, with fresh herbs and a butter sauce. I'm sure the veg changes with the season. The potato dish was mashed potatoes, yellow flesh I think and very tasty and seasoned, put onto a dish, brushed with an egg wash and baked til the peaks were toasty brown. Great place. You should go. I'll go back again and try out anything on the menu as it all looked wonderful. The staff and management obviously care about the food and service so you can't go wrong with asking the right questions. Like I said, it gets busy, make a reservation. Be prepared for a bit of noise. It's great food, served without any fancy styles, and in a nice casual atmosphere without pretentions. read more

Excellent! The staff greeted us warmly & quickly. The waiter was friendly & efficient. The food choices were varied & interesting. All our dishes were superb. 4 of us enjoyed: lobster mac & cheese (many yummies); 2 had very good fish tacos (they liked the haddock over the oysters although both were extremely good); I had the baked haddock with creamy lobster topping & it was fantastic! We all shared the warm date bread desert that was delicious & unique. We all were so happy with our meals. We understand it is under new ownership and we're pleased the restaurant continues to be excellent! We'll definitely return. There were 4 of us for dinner. The 2 ladies that got the ribs were very disappointed. The meat wasn't cooked through. They also didn't get the Cole slaw as advertised. One lady ordered the burger, which was just so-so. I had the haddock. Portion was a little skimpy. We needed extra condiments and napkins and it took quite a few minutes to get our waitress' attention. For dessert the Heaven in a Pan was also disappointing. We will not come back. read more

Tried the chef's 3 course menu, which I thought was a bargain (in usd came out to $30). A fresh arugula, goat cheese and beet salad, pan-seared halibut that was perfectly seasoned with garlic lemon and thyme, a twice baked potato fritter, and roasted carrots that weren't at all over cooked! The crem brûlée desert was good, but either the filling or the blueberries (whole blueberries were inside the desert) made the cream a little more of a custard texture than the normal light creaminess you expect.
