We were on a trip to PEI, and stumbled across this place. What a great view, the location is stunning. The place is clean and the staff are amazingly friendly. I had the lobster roll with chives and dill with mayo, unfortunately the lobster was not fresh. This was a little sad for me as we really are right on the water. But the fries are delicious, and so is the coleslaw. read more

We arrived in town today and started looking for a restaurant. This was a great find. As others have said, it is a family owned business. Our server Brooklyn was wonderful. Chose the place based on average reviews. I was not overly impressed. The service seemed to care more about their convenience than serving the customer. Our group ended up having to sit separately because the waitress was concerned about not being able to walk around a larger table, which seemed unfounded and a concern that was waitress centered rather than customer centered. When asked about closing a window because cold air was affecting some in our party, same waitress said it was not possible because the kitchen needed the air... Well... five minutes later, the customers that took the table near the window simply closed the window to avoid the cold wind... Two for two! Not a great beginning. Ordered seafood chowder and fish and chips. What would you expect? Yes... seafood chowder is served first and once customers are done with it ... you bring the fish and chips. Logical, right? Not here. They brought everything together, which meant the fish and chips got cold while we had the chowder. Third strike... Anything else? Let me say this, the fried fish, in my opinion, was not great. First, you could taste "stale" oil (old oil). This alone turned me off. Second, there was little fish and a lot of breading, I'd say 70% breading 30% fish. So, if you combine oil taste with very thick breading you get what I got. To eat the fish I had to take the breading apart. On a positive note, the seafood chowder was excellent. As Luc B. review pointed out, it is a very basic family and kid friendly setting. read more

Just stumbled on this great place. The staff is super friendly; the service is wonderful. I had the BEST clam chowder I have ever had (and I have tried a lot). ISLAND FAVORITES RESTAURANT - A Quality multi generational family restaurant with fantastic, delicious and freshly cooked family meals. Originally went in as they are a Gluten friendly restaurant! But we were quick to realize that all of their food is delicious, flavourful very realistically priced. They have gluten and non gluten options. My daughter is celiac, and we have eaten twice there and she has not had a single issue!!! We are on vacation here in the Cavendish area for 6 nights, we have eaten there twice!! FIVE STARS . There were six of us, including 3 generations of our family, and there was food that appealed to all of us. I would be remiss if I did not give FIVE STARS to the staff, we met Sandra, David and Stacie, all of them went out of their way to make us very welcome! We did not meet "Mom" who is the chef magnificent!! Another FIVE STARS I hope you will stop by and check them out if you find yourself in PEI, they are 100% worth the travel to CAVENDISH, PEI! We ordered Captain Lobster Roll and Lobster Club Panini. The food was fantastic including all the sides! The coleslaw, potato salad and fries were top-notch. The fries were a bit salty for our taste but the crispiness made us empty the whole basket. We were sad we couldnt try the Sailors sampler but maybe next time! read more

We tried three different lobster rolls and could barely tell the difference between them - perhaps too subtle for the likes of us.Quick and simple, and a bit overpriced at that, nothing to complain about per se. Many others have written truthfully about the excellence of the chowders and lobster rolls. I would point out that the interior of the establishmen has been remodeled since the website photo was taken. There's now a combination of bench seating as well as new tables and chairs. The "sides" of potato salad and coleslaw were very tasty as were the generous portions of homemade iced tea and lemonade. If you desire a meal of exceptional quality in an attractive informal environment in the heart of Cavendish, you will not be disappointed. The Island owners could not be more friendly. read more

As of the time of this writing, Island Favorites "PEI's BEST Lobster Roll" is ranked number 1 on TripAdvisor for best place to eat in Cavendish. This ranking is not unwarranted. We tried the Greenhorn roll and the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. While somewhat pricey (to be expected in a touristy area like Green Gables), the food was dynamite. The lobster grilled cheese was extremely flavorful, and the Greenhorn roll had a great blend of spices that amplified the experience. Ambiance is extremely low key - I'm talking plastic tables and chairs. The set up looks more like an ice cream shop than a lobster-roll restaurant, but make no mistake: this place is a must visit. I had the Captain's Roll (largest lobster roll on the menu) and the price was around $16, but with the amount of fresh lobster on the roll it was well worth it. The flavor was explosive, so good it'll blow your head clean off. My wife had a gluten free option, which was great, and they take credit cards, which is somewhat of a rarity at some establishments. The lobster roll was good. But I would say - basic/standard and a bit over priced. I doubt this is the best on the Island. Hard to find decent food in Cavendish tho- so I guess that in comparison to fried stuff people felt compelled to rave. Service was fine - you order at a counter though so not like it makes much difference. We liked it but it's served with chips only- all sides are ala carte so I think they are pricey considering they are very small and the sides are separate. read more

Chowder is fantastic. It is how you expect chowder from any other restaurant should end up tasting but always end up failing you like your family or grand kids. Lobster panini was awesome. I am looking for the perfect lobster roll - generous amounts of lobster with light mayo, good seasoning and perfect bun. I tried the Greenhorn lobster roll and it was pretty close. Toasted bun was good and it had a fair amount of lobster. It was seasoned well with chive and dill. The regular was medium sized. Also tried the lobster chowder which was really good, but I wish it had more lobster. Potato salad was a little above average. I would stop by again if in the neighborhood.
