I never leave reviews, but after my experience today this shop is more than deserving: I live in Miami and come to visit the area each year, and strictly only go to the same barber back home for over 15 years. Being that this trip's stay has been longer than expected, I took the chance of trying this shop. As soon as I walked in, I couldn't have felt more welcomed. Richard (barber I had an appt with) was so genuine and you could tell how much he really cares for each person he meets. Even the barbers that were waiting for their clients to arrive, made conversation with me and made me feel like I wasn't just a visitor. All that to say- Rich gave me one of the best haircuts I've had in years. If you're in town visiting or a local, I highly recommend this place! read more

JARRYD, that cuts my hair is great! The 1st couple times I went he took his time to figure out my different cowlicks and whatever. He literally spent almost an hour, I truly felt like he was treating my hair like a piece of ART. I live in Venice and a haircut by JARRYD is worth the trip to Port Charlotte. You definitely need to call ahead to get an appointment, he's usually booked out at least a week, but definitely worth the wait. I've been coming here for several years. It's a great atmosphere, your welcome to grab a beer out of the fridge or make yourself when ya get here. There's 4 men(most w/beards) on one side and 4 women on the other side. Austyn is the best. She cut and colored my hair to perfection. She was amazing and really took her time giving me exactly what I wanted. I took my three year old the next day for a trim and the whole staff treated my daughter like a princess! I'm trying to update a prior review about getting no response from the salon. After my initial poor review both the owner and the stylist reached out to me. The owner apologized sincerely and explained how off balance they've been since the hurricane. She offered me a free haircut but since the stylist and i had already connected and set a new appointment I declined the free service. I've never had a single problem here and after seeing how quickly and professionally the owner responded, I don't believe I ever will. read more

The coolest barber shop/salon in town! Great ambiance and full of awesome/talented employees. I go to Jenn for color, haircuts, as well as my Brazilian Blowout treatments. I've got pretty long and thick, frizz-tastic hair, and I've learned that a lot of hairstylists don't know how to handle it or work with it. Since I do vintage hairstyles a lot, I wanted a long horse-shoe shaped cut also known as a "middy." I'd been terrified to have anyone do it because I know it's a bit more complicated and if it gets messed up, it would take a long time to grow out. Jenn does such a fantastic job and gives me exactly what I want, that there's no way in hell I'll let anyone else cut my hair besides her. She covers up those annoying blonde roots for me too ;) I can't stress enough to BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENTS! Everyone here gets busy, and walk-ins are not always able to be accommodated. Great vibe and great cut! My very cool son recommended this place and I was not disappointed. It was hip but welcoming, even for an old lady like me. Casey did a wonderful job updating my long, grown out hair and I got a style that was modern and flattering. I went in this morning as a new customer. Jenn had scheduled me in before they opened bc her schedule is crazy. That right there, was enough for me to come back. Lol, but her kindness and thoughtfulness went beyond that. I have a 20 month old daughter who I had confined to her stroller (she wasn't happy with me for this reason) I was trying not to get all anxious about the behavior bc I really needed this haircut. Great hair salon with fantastic and talented stylists. The atmosphere is great and laid back, everyone was chatty and had fun conversation. I really enjoyed getting my hair done. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was after my consult we didn't really come to a price range and I ended up spending wayyyyy more than I wouldve liked. I was hoping for just some highlights, but it ended up being a root smudge, highlights, and balayage. It was beautiful and they did a great job, just may have asked for a lighter service and worked towards the final product over time if I had known the price originally. read more

Shipwreck Dandy is very cool... great ambiance (can you say ambiance for a barbershop?) Looks awesome.... Great art (some for sale), and the barbers... whats better than awesome... awesomer!!! Went in on a Wednesday afternoon on the recommendation of a coworker who does NOT frequent Shipwreck Dandy. As a native New Jerseyan who's been in Florida for just shy of a month, I found this place to be reminiscent of Asbury Park. The place exudes an inviting ambiance with its electic decor (I'd call it a folk-sy punk rock blend-think pin-up girls and sailor tattoos) and good tunes. The staff was super friendly, professional and attentive, and my haircut is boss. The price is right, and the customer service is impecceable. The only bummer for me was having to forego the complimentary PBR since I was on my lunch hour from the office. Go here. You won't be disappointed. read more
