Staff were friendly and it was located centrally around the dock area. The big sign "All you can eat" Fish and chips attracted my group. It was nice sitting in the shaded patio area on a hot sunny day. Service was excellent as well. Food was served nice and hot. But I've had better fish before. Fries could be crunchier but that's just a preference thing. I loved loading all that salt on it... so good :) read more

Oh man.... First of all, Tobermory is my favorite place in (almost) the whole world. I want to retire here and spend my last day's on the stony shores by the Grotto. This place has THE BEST fish and chips I have ever had. In fact, I haven't ordered fish and chips anywhere else because I have been spoiled or you could say "traumatized" by Lee's... I know I will never have it this good again :(. The ALL YOU CAN EAT (hell yeah) fish and ships were about $10-12 per person. We went around lunch time and it was packed to the rim, not an empty spot on the patio (in the summer). The fish was amazing and fresh and the chips were crispy and done to perfection. You don't have to order the chips if you don't want to (the second time around), I just ordered fries two times and the fish about 4-5 times :) The pieces are pretty big and they give you as much tartar sauce as you want. There's also malt vinegar there so I decided to go all salt and vinegar on the fries - do not regret that awesome decision. The decor is great, it's super duper tacky and fun and shipwreck-ey. The staff were great, our server was high as a kite and it made for an awesomely fun experience. Stonned servers are the best servers... Amazing experience, beautiful location and delicious fish and chips. It's nice when the fish is caught a stone throw away from where it's fried! read more

This place was a gem of a find. Never seen or been to an all u can eat fish and chips place. Expected bad fish, but this is one of the best fish I have had. They were not limited to fish. This place looked exciting when reading about it on yelp and after a long day at flowerpot island we were hungry and excited to visit. However the food was bland, service not so great. I had the Georgian whitefish with fries. It had no taste. Fries were just like what you would get in frozen food bag. My friend asked for hot sauce...it never came. Overall quite disappointed. I thought kids would be excited with pirate theme but servers didn't get into the act. I think it's the only place that accepts dogs but ours didn't get any water like others in previous reviews. Save your money go somewhere else. read more

This place's service I'd say is quite good. All the servers have great enthusiasm, humor and try to make you feel welcome. They provide decently quick service. If you want ALYCE, this place is the only place you can go and the quality of food is decent. It's $13.95 for AYCE fish+chips, they give you an alaskan fish which I found very soft. I also got to try the Georgian Bay fish&chips which I think is a better fish than the ALYCE variety, it's a little more flaky but was still smooth. This in case you are still guessing is not an AYCE option. The place is very convenient, you cannot miss it. There also may be a guy walking around in the morning handing out $2 off coupons. read more

This place has all you can eat fish and chips for about $15. The fish comes in really big portions and you get 2 to start off with. They were really really good, especially the batter. The fries were decent. I didn't see anything special about them. The servers were super friendly and came to check on us often which was nice. They are also dressed up as pirates which fit the ambience of the restaurant since there were pirate and underwater decorations all over the place. It was also nice of them to let us change tables since we came in a group of 11 and originally we were separated into 2 different tables not close enough for us to talk. When one of the bigger tables cleared up, they cleaned it up and let us move. When the sun was getting too hot, they also let us pull down the side of the tent curtain to block of us from the sun. A few reasons why I couldn't give this place a 5/5 star: Most of us didn't order seconds for the all you can eat fish and chips cause of the greasiness of the fish. Although the fish was really good, it just felt as if you're taking a glass of oil, pouring it on the fish, then eating it. Secondly, there's only one washroom out of the whole restaurant. At times there's a long line inside the restaurant for the washroom. All in all, this place is really nice and if you're visiting the area, you should really try this place out. read more

Fish was okay, and that is the only reason it's not a 1 star rating. setting is kind of dirty and suspicious. Restaurant looked "fun", but we won't be making the same mistake again. Going to the bathroom was a horror in its own, one of the male staff was in the ladies bathroom and didn't even close, forget locking the door! Bathroom was filthy. read more

A late review. I was here last summer and decided to have a go at fish and chips. My boyfriend loves American meal, so he ordered the fish and chips combo. I think they were haddock, but can't be too sure now as these pictures are a year old. It was delicious as any fried and battered fish goes. I don't like it as much as my boyfriend but I am use to eating fish without the batter. If asked to come back, I would say yes again. The atmosphere was just funny and you will enjoy the waiters dressed as pirates. It is a just from women dressing as ...um, we'll, just enjoy the young and old pirates while you eat. read more

The fries were probably the best fries I had at Tobermory. The fish was pretty good...as with all the places in Tobermory, the fish was good. Don't get the chicken. It was terrible. They were out of ribs but it won't surprise me if they aren't much different from the chicken. The chicken portions were gigantic. You can easily share these plates. read more

A yearly trip to Tobermory never ends without a visit or two to Shipwreck Lees. My husband and I go yearly and always get the Georgian Bay Whitefish. The best fish and chips we have ever had! Fresh Fish and Chips. Good atmosphere and very friendly staff! My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant with our families this past weekend. We walked in because of the pirate theme decorations and a good deal on all you can eat fish and chips. It turned out to be a great choice. We ordered Georgian Bay White fish for everyone and it was very fresh and perfectly deep fried. My parents who came from China loved it. The staff is super friendly. He took photos for us and with us. Also, after we left Tobermory, my boyfriend found out that he left his sunglasses in the restaurant, the staff was very kind and responsive and mailed it back to us. We are very thankful. Overall, it is a great experience and will definitely recommend to all my friends. read more

the worst fish and chips ever has. we order a fish n chips (2 piece of haddock), a calamari and a fried pickle. fry is average. but the fish is like korean dry pollock. dry and seems that it was a leftover being fried twice. the calamari is over cooked. yes crispy but over cooked. i had to wait over half hour for it. disappointed. read more

The Staff were hands down the best! My boyfriend anud I came here for lunch and drinks and the staff definitely made this place. They were just so friendly and happy and went above and beyond to please. We were hoping to try the jerk chicken, but they didn't have any ready for the day yet, so our waiter suggested the bbq chicken and gave us some jerk sauce on the side. Well, his suggestion did not disappoint. It was so tender it fell off the bone and the flavour was great right through. The decor is very laid back pirate/beach themed. Fun atmosphere where you're surrounded by wait staff dressed as pirates. Really enjoyed the batter on the fish - light and crispy. Fish tasted really good and fresh. Loved the all you can eat fish! But seriously, how much fish and chips can one eat?! I had four pieces of fish. I liked how they got our next serving of fish quickly and knew we weren't interested in getting more fries so the refills didnt come with fries. How is it I'm the first person to review this place? I feel lucky! We visited the infamous Shipwreck Lee's on our family trip to Tobermory. We've seen it before, we've remarked at the cugliness (cute ugliness) of the pirate and fisherman statues outside and the volume of people usually on the patio. Today was no different; we walked in, I immediately took note of the fact that all the servers are dressed like pirates. We got menus (basically battered whitefish, fries and some other things) and some beers from local craft breweries. Nothing too fancy, but the kind of food that hits the spot after hiking, biking, snorkelling or whatever. It's pretty inexpensive and probably a great addition to a trip to these parts. read more

My wife had the fried haddock (single piece) with a Caesar salad and I had the fried halibut (single piece) with a poutine upgrade. Very good! The fish was nicely fried with expert batter. The poutine was authentic, in the sense that it was like I remembered from my Ottawa days. The gravy was nice and dark but not too salty and the curds were deliciously melted.
