I had not been here in several years as the older ownership had really been losing customers with rough, kind of incomplete orders and service. Not sure when the new owners came in but they have really brought it closer to its beginnings than would be expected. Fresh breads for all the sandwiches and the menu is basically as it was. I've had two spectacular lunches the last couple of weeks and today it was made complete with the 'Lunch Box' which gives you any of their thirty plus sandwiches, a 1/2 pint bowl of one of the great salads they make, a pickle slice, a cookie again of your choice and a bag of chips. That is a huge lunch. You purchase your drink separately, or you get a glass of water that is served up properly for you on the counter. This was a great experience and one I am happy to say I will officially continue. read more

The sandwiches are terrific. I really like their "I'm Stuffed " sandwich. Thanksgiving in a sandwich. Today I tried the Marjorie it's was lacking seasoning. The peppers were sparse. The Iced Caramel Latte was awful. It tasted very watery. Perhaps it was only iced coffee. NOT the latte. It should have had a much stronger flavor. When I come back to my home town of Marion, I always find a reason to order my favorite sandwich. That sandwich is from shipyard galley. A roast beef lover, I am picky about the cut of roast beef and how it is prepared on a sandwich. The "Annie Oakley" roast beef sandwich is what I measure all my roast beef sandwiches to. It has the right amount of everything. My only critique is that sometimes it lacks consistency when made by the newer members of the staff. I always order this ahead of time and take it to go as this is a small deli/bakery. There are chairs and tables inside but it is a small venue (much like a cafe). It also tends to be crowded around lunch/dinner so there are lots of people waiting around for their order. Definitely call ahead. For the price, take-out option, and a tastefully prepared roast beef sandwich. This small gem gets 4 stars! read more

First time going here. Shipyard is a cute place. they have prepared foods, variety of sweets including great cookies. They Have homemade soups and sandwiches. I got a grilled pastrami with cheese very tasty. I would've taken a picture of it but I ate it too fast. I talked of a variety of customers, all saying that enjoy The atmosphere of this place and the food. A customer recommended that the next time I should try their soup it's delicious. read more

Shipyard is great to stop by for a lunch that's quick and/or bring to the beach with you!! Sandwiches are made to order and with LOADS of options, and they have a lot of good combinations they suggest up on their menu board. They also serve Jim's organic coffee, which tastes great and is locally owned & made, and they do a great job with lattes too! The seating area is kind of tight, but there are a lot of chairs and tables so it's never been a problem. Loads and loads of parking available, and service is always great. They also have a variety of premade pasta salads and vegetables and other such dishes that you can get to go, which I've only heard good things about. Worth a stop and good value. I only docked a star because you probably won't be wowed by the sandwiches, just satisfied and happy with the range of options offered. Quality food, but not phenomenal. read more

$10 will get you pretty much any sandwich a drink and a bag of chips. It's good, not great. I had the buffalo bill, again good not great. Sandwiches are a small for the amount being paid but for a local place serving what seems to be good quality food, it's acceptable. If I ever find myself in town again I wouldn't mind coming here again but would probably try somewhere else. The atmosphere definitely is that of the small town sandwich shop with some very good looking baked goods. read more

I'd characterize the food as okay. My main complaint is that the size is meager. One of the sandwiches we ordered was the Greek wrap with chicken. I'd bet there was 0.5 oz of chicken in my sandwich. I mean the wrap was 80% wrap, 19% veggies and 1% chicken. Not the ratio I'm looking for from a sandwich or wrap so I'll be going elsewhere in the future. read more

The owners of this bakery treat their help horribly. They have the nicest group of high school students but the owners are rude and demanding. They steal the tip jar and keep it for themselves. I will never give them my business again. read more

Great meatballs ! I pick them up with some sauce and a loaf of bread for a quick meal at home. Everything I have tried here has been fantastic. The sandwiches are great and they make the best vanilla cake with vanilla frosting around! Ok so I hate yelp for the fact that most people come to this site to complain rather than come to give praise. I love this place. Everything is top notch. You CANNOT go wrong. I actually came to look and see if anyone loves the pasta spinach salad as much as I do and asked before me what has changed. I too only come to the area in the summer and the first thing I do is purchase this salad. The last few times I wondered if I was supposed to ask for dressing on the side. Its dry. Used to have more flavor in the dressing or more dressing? Its just not my fav anymore.I love you guys. Want to be useful not critical. The only other suggestion I have is re-routing the ordering counter. Its confusing and very slow. But I will keep coming back regardless. read more

We go there frequently for all types of meals. All of their sandwiches are fresh and tasty and made to order, including on the pannini grill, if you like. I've tried a few desserts, too, but my all time favorite is their apple pie. Only my wife and mother could make it so good! Their deli case items for dinner are excellent, too but my favorites are the chicken parm and chicken cordon bleu. Soups are different every day,too,and delicious.
