This was one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city, but I didn't get a chance to go there for long time, today I went with my cousin and my sister . We ordered salad shirazi , (the tomatoes were so old and soft, and they put that on the table without any lemon, or dressing at all, basically those smashed tomatoes and some cucumbers), we ordered mast o khiar. (KHIAR which means cucumber, was only in the name of that appetizer, not mixed in that yogurt , it was just yogurt and dill, and both came in much smaller portions, and much higher prices, than before. Then we ordered 2 Soltani, instead of 2 single portion they brought us one "big" portion, the amount of rice was just a little bit more than one portion and instead of 4 tomatoes we got only 3 tomatoes. And also the taste of meat was unpleasant. I know all that was because they made the kabab with cheap meat. They are trying to rip off the customer in any way possible. I am so disappointed on this, and I will never go back again. read more

First time at Shiraz and I have to say their small but lovely event room upstairs did not fail to impress, with the proper decor the place could look magical - which is exactly what the event I attended here did! Ample tables could fit here without being too confined and crowded, 7 max! There is a dance floor and a small stage to Party the night away as well as a small Passage leading to the restrooms and an Outdoor Porch for those who need to blow out some smoke! Down below there is a restaurant, having not tried it, I could not give my review to what they serve downstairs, however, the spread they prepared for the event was fantastic especially the appetizer prior to the main course which is pretty hefty and generous serving of mediterranean dishes. The food here is pretty solid but the service needs some work. I came here for lunch with my mom on a weekday and we were sat right away. The restaurant itself was pretty empty but we couldn't find our server every time we needed him. I had to physically get up multiple times. The food itself was good. My mom had chicken and I had the beef. Good portions, fair prices. Really wish the service had been a bit better. Will not be coming back here. read more

I've gone to Shiraz for decades, held multiple events there, but never again. My cousin rented a PRIVATE room to hold her father's FUNERAL luncheon informing the restaurant the guests would be arriving following services at the CEMETARY. Upon arrival, with a number of elderly guests with physical disabilities, though tables and chairs were ready, the waiters could have easily worked around the elderly sitting to rest after emotional and physically challenging day, the Shiraz employees made no accommodation for physically disabled elderly guests whatsoever. Compassion,consideration, simple human sympathy to help were utterly lacking. Robots could be programmed to mimic more compassion than the vile and despicable conduct displayed by a lead waiter and manager. What a way to make a hard day unnecessarily harder than to kick the new widow out until they set a plate. Yet, during the meal the waiters easily were able to clear dirty plates for clean ones. A business that only cares about money and has no human touch left, is a business that has seen its best days already. Perhaps if the owners hire a manager who understands they are in a service business and waiters who can read the room, they can prevent this downturn, but for now this business lost a loyal customer. I was invited to an event at Shiraz. The food was so bad that I went to In N Out afterwards. Nothing on the table was edible. The reddish was so old that it was completely brown. Im shocked they would even place it on the table. At that point, just skip placing the food on the table. The main dish came out and the servers had the trays of kabobs stacked on top of each other!! Im not kidding, the waiter had 4 trays of food on top of one another and was placing it on the tables. LOW CLASS AND UNPROFESSIONAL !!! the servers have no idea not to place trays straight from the kitchen on top of the cooked meats. the kabob had a strong smell of foul meat. didnt even attempt to taste it because I didnt want to get food poisoning. The plates, silverware and glasses were all dirty. I ordered from this place through DoorDash. They were having a 20% off special that day. I ordered a beef lule kabob which normally comes with rice and two beef skewers. I've ordered form this place multiple times before since it's close by and I like to support local family owned businesses. What I ended up receiving was only one skewer and the dolmeh I ordered for $8 only came with four stuffed grape leaves. I called to ask if there was a mistake but the person on the phone argued with me and insisted that this order only comes with one. Talk about gaslighting me into thinking I remember incorrectly. I've ordered at least a dozen times from them and have always received two skewers. It's very clear to me that they were trying to skimp on their orders because they were doing a 20% off special and then lied to my face about it. I'm NEVER going to this place again. read more

There was a piece of "FOIL" attached to the Taheig. Also Supposedly the white fish was over cocked and dry. Store owner Mahmoodi was contacted and he was careless, indefinite, and unresponsive to the fixing the issue. Mahmood, I was told the owner was very rude and disrespectful. We ordered the food and requested for delivery and he was asking to take the food back to the store ourselves to change the food! And he said that if we touched the food he won't be able to refund the amount. I have no clue if we didn't touch the food how we could find the FOIL?! As you can see in the picture food was touched and not eaten as we found the foil. Also he was not aware of health consequence of having foil in the food. We used to come to this place so much when I was little, this was before they redecorated and changed everything. I'm sad to say this place has gone downhill since then. We came on Father's Day and from the moment we walked in I was surprised at how empty it was. This place used to be packed from what I remember. They also had a "Father's Day" menu which only had chicken or beef as a choice, so no fish or lamb at all. Which would be understandable if the place was packed, but it clearly wasn't. Anyways, the waiters here were completely incompetent. We asked the guy for 3 none carbonated mint drink. The waiter who brings the drink is different and he literally just throws down the cups as if we've wronged him somehow. Then he brings the drinks which are regular carbonated ones, we go no we asked for mint and not carbonated. He goes oh okay and comes back with the carbonated mint one. We go no, we want none carbonated and he goes oh no we don't have that, just the house made one. So why didn't they let us know that before? No clue. Whatever, the original server comes and goes oh no we do have it, don't listen to him I'll go grab it. Here's when we lost all hope, he comes back with the saaaame carbonated drink. My face was like OKAY. Alright whatever, we get the homemade one and call it a day. We order and get our food and I shit you not, the little packets of butter they give you was bigger than the tomato on my plate. The meat was under seasoned as well. The good part about that entire shish kabob plate was the grilled onions. I was really disappointed by Shiraz, I had such high expectations going in and was not impressed at all. Paying so much for mediocre food is so not worth it. There's a reason why people wait so long for Raffi's, the food and service speaks for itself. I don't think I'll ever be coming back here again. TL;DR Bad service with confused workers, food was mediocre at best, needs to put effort into costumer service than redesigning the place, you're better off going to Raffi's. read more

There are no words to how amazing he is and so on top of getting you everything you need. The food is great and very tasty. You can order family style and they bring it all out in trays which is great. They have entrainment on the weekends and it is just such a great environment. Delicious Persian cuisine in the heart of Glendale! My family and I were lucky enough to try this WONDERFUL restaurant last evening. We came here based on the high Yelp ratings and boy, did they ever deliver! The food was wonderful and the portions were humongous. Everyone wound up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. I had the Mahi Mahi dinner, garnished with a very flavorful orange peel rice dish. The appetizers of hummus and the tomato/cucumber combo salad were also delicious. Our server was William and he gave us extra-spectacular service. He even gave me a fresh portion of the hummus to take home! I cannot WAIT to be able to dine here again. Been coming here for close to 30 years, since I was in my mid teens. The place has changed quite a bit. They no longer have belly dancers and while I can see the politically correct side of the decision, it was memorable and now it leaves much to be desired. They do have a musician on the weekends and he is good, we like him. It's consistent, but it can get repetitive. The food has also gone through its metamorphosis as well, but they've always had a upper hand in terms of taste. While I enjoy all of their menu items, my go to is Soltani. Luleh (koobideh), chicken (boneless and bones in), fish, and other kabobs are all great and so are all the stews. The service is great, especially if we end up with our favorite waitress. However, some waiters are just all over the place, disorganized, and forgetful. One thing I've noticed though lately is that the filet and luleh (koobideh) have a hint of garlic powder. Now this is moving away from the traditional recipe a bit, because kabob generally does not have garlic and as a result it starts to taste like Italian steak. Careful guys! Prices used to be a lot more reasonable but have gone up tremendously, but at least the food tastes good. We come here often and we'll continue our tradition. read more

This place has gone down so bad it's embarrassing. First off they close at 7 PM, when we asked why they said we make our money with funerals now...WHAT?? I said oh, so what about regular diners, he said, "meh, the owner makes more money with groups"...when the food came it was absolutely disgusting. Best Persian food in Glendale! This review for take out only. Ordered by phone 2 plates of luleh kebob to go. Total time 15 minutes and it was ready for me. Delicious kebob that comes with rice and 2 bbq tomatoes and bbq green peppers or jalapeño. It comes with raw onions,basil,flat pita bread and butter. For best tasting mix the butter with rice. I'm FREEZING!!! I came here last night for a holiday dinner with some friends and it was FREEZING! I didn't take off my scarf nor my jacket because I was shaking from being so cold there. AND we sat in the back of the nicely decorated Persian restaurant, which had chandilers and pretty painted pictures. I got to say that the place was probably the fanciest Persian restaurant I've ever been too. Although I freezed my butt off here, I did enjoy my juicy, and YUMMY Boneless Chicken Kebob with that delicious rice. For the longest time I didn't know what to do with that butter and onions Persian restaurants always give, and I finally figured out that you're suppose to mix it with your rice. OHHHH! Yeah.. I felt kind of dumb. And that hummus.. or HOMOUS (that's how they spell it), was pretty damn good. My breath still smells pretty garlicy. And thats when you know it's pretty damn good. Too bad I can't really talk to anyone close up though without giving them a sour face. Another thing I noticed was that this place was SO empty for a LARGE, fancy restaurant. Kind of weird, considering it's a weekend night. But maybe it's because it's like the North Pole in there. And if it wasn't so cold in there, I would have given this place 4 stars. Oh yeah.. service is alright like everyone said. And the music is pretty loud. It's kind of weird, because the decorations give off the fancy, fine decor vibe.. while the music throws you off. The service here was friendly but the place was empty and the food reflected a restaurant with little turn-over. However - we did sit in a lovely garden patio - all by ourselves. Shiraz has at least one other restaurant - which is in Sherman Oaks, ans was packed and better the last time I went. As an appetizer we ordered the crispy rice with two stews - which was good - but freshness is the enemy of both crispy rice and stews - so the weakness of the place did not show here. For our main course we ordered special rice and meat kabobs. I had a cobo filet mignon kabob and lula kabob (ground spiced beef). The lula was a little tasteless and the filet was old and frozen and over cooked and mealy. Sad. The baklava was good - but I am sure that Shiraz got it from a bakery. Whenever we goto the galleria, we have to stop by and eat here. Quantity and quality are pretty much always above par. I'm really into the savory mixture of dissimilar but complimentary favors of the middle east. Case-in-point: The rightfully strong white onions and turnips (hated turnips growing up, but because of this place - can peacefully eat them now) served with basil leaves. Pop a slice of onion in your mouth, chew it and then take a chomp on the basil, it completely kills the sting of the onion. Oh, and then add the Mast o Misir (sp - yogurt and shallots) into the mix and you'll just be amazed of the cultural ingestion you've just partook. mmmm too bad its midnight right now, would like to go experience that right now. Oh yeah and the Koobideh is always good - maybe a bit under cooked for my pallet, but no real complaints. Don't forget to substitute the sharazi salad for a $1.5 more for 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad. Order the iced tea as well, but then ask for sugar cubes. They used to be on the table, but they took them away and have them in the kitchen. For some strange reason, their iced tea with the sugar cubes just makes my day. read more

I am a big fan of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food so when my dad brought me here, I had high expectations. And indeed, this place exceeded my expectations! Parking is valet and I think that's the only option. One of the reasons why I give this restaurant five stars is because the attention the waiters and servers give you is exceptional. You cannot complain. From taking your order carefully and patiently, to constantly refilling your drinks, and checking up on you continuously, it's just perfect. Our waiter even gave us a special for free. GOD BLESS THIS YOUNG BOY. All of our three waiters/servers were very kind and friendly. The food comes out quickly, waiting is about 10 to 15 minutes. The taste of the food is great, juicy and tender- the meat will melt in your mouth. I can speak for all the kabobs- beef, chicken, fish, and lamb. The rice is on point, like really on point, and so are the grilled veggies. Portions are so huge. Finishing your plate will be a long goal. I really like the pita bread here. It's fluffy and soft, you can also open it to put in all your fillings unlike other pita breads from other places. Shiraz's prices are just like your typical Persian restaurants, but don't ask, you are putting some bomb filet mignon inside your mouth! This place is definitely on my top favorites. Competition with my #1 favorite, Raffi's Place, located on Brand also in Glendale. I recommend this place to everyone, it's just that delicious! read more

People, you need to stop comparing kabob places to Raffi's Place. This place is good on it's own merits and the service was really good for the 100+ group we had. Parking can be tricky because it's severely limited, but there is parking on the street and you might have to circle once or twice-no big deal. They do offer valet parking for special events so don't let that worry you. The food here was very very good. Being a big kabob fan, I did enjoy everything. The do know their kabobs! The servers have mastered the art of handling big crowds and we never had an empty cup or dish sit on our table too long.
