Really outstanding for a burgers-and-fries place! Interesting sandwiches, burgers, milkshakes (all available with malt if desired), and pies. I had the chicken sandwich (with homemade blackberry BBQ sauce) and Parmesan fries (with real Parmesan and lots of real minced sautéed garlic) and the chocolate chip cookie dough malted milkshake. All were excellent! And I hear their soft-serve ice cream is also amazing! It gets very busy, especially during the summer tourist season. No air conditioning. After our trek up Mount Storm King we met up with Aunt C. to grab some brunch. Those switchbacks certainly worked up an appetite for both of us and we had just missed breakfast at the lodge we were staying at. Dillon found Granny's cafe nearby and that it was opening in about 15 minutes. We headed there and thankfully we got there right as they opened. Several parties entered shortly after us so luckily we grabbed a 3 top and checked out the menu. We each ordered a chocolate malt and a basket. My boyfriend and I chose the burrito basket and Aunt C. got the breakfast sandwich basket. When you walk into Granny's cafe you are immediately greeted by the vintage decor and the friendly employee at the counter. Once we sat down I had time to take it all in. Just above us was a ceiling shelf displaying a bunch of different salt and pepper shakers. A piano sat behind us with an old meat grinder nearby. They had some shirts for sale and a restroom just outside. An eclectic mix of vintage decor and several tables to serve guests inside and outside. Once the food came the three of us were famished. The chocolate malts were thick and delicious with a hefty dollop of whipped cream on top. Portion sizes were on point for our hunger needs, we were unable to finish everything. The burrito was stuffed with fresh spinach, tomatoes, cheese, and choice of meat. I got the sausage and all of it together was flavorful and hearty. This little cafe is certainly worth stopping at, be sure to check their hours before getting excited. It worked out that they opened at 11 on this day after we had filled our morning with an adventurous hike. We drove by a few hours later and noticed they got a lot busier after they opened, we were thankful we got there early and filled our tummies to get us through the rest our day. We stopped by Granny's on our way down from crescent lake and I'm so glad we found this hidden gem, we decided to stop by for an afternoon treat and it certainly did not disappoint we tried the blackberry pie with a side of vanilla soft serve and it was the best pie I have ever had, they don't skimp out on fruit there was so much filling in the pie, they also have the cutest little farm adjacent to the restaurant, we saw goats, chickens and even an emu, over all it was a great experience read more

I was recommended Granny's Cafe place by many different people, and it definitely lived up to the hype! I like that you order with the cashier and they deliver the food to your table, so it's like partial food service. This is great for people coming in groups so you don't have to worry about splitting the bill. I ordered a grilled cheese with cheddar, and egg added inside. I do wish the cheese was a little more melted, but the bread was perfectly crispy and soft. For my side I chose the tomato bisque, which was pretty creamy and lacked a strong, tangy tomato flavor. I would skip the tomato soup next time and opt for a different side. The sweet potato fries were DELICIOUS, they were so crispy on the outside and not soggy. I do wish they had different sizes for the sides, because the full order of sweet potato fries is huge and a little excessive if you're already ordering an entree that come with a side. There is an extra charge for ranch dipping. My friends were all happy with their food. There is a bathroom that also brings you to free roaming chicken! This tiny cafe in the middle of seemingly nowhere is a must-try! We had booked a cabin nearby and were recommended this spot with their homemade pies. After a hike, we came for burgers! I had the chickpea burger, which fell apart as soon as you held it (but the bun was delicious). The truffle parm fries upgrade was 1000% worth it. My partner had the whirly burger with clam chowder (which she said was local but not made in house). Both were yum! The clam chowder was perfectly creamy (not chunky if that's more your speed) but had little clams. The blackberry pie (not pictured because we ate too fast) was also so sweet and had the best crust! This is a gem!!! I was thoroughly impressed. Quaint little place but offers a variety of options for lunch/dinner, desserts (including the largest soft serve cone I have ever seen) and entertainment in their backyard. They even have a rotating menu with specials. First of all, prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants in PA. Super cute, retro style with friendly service and even their own merch. Lots of seating available indoors and outside. You can enjoy having your lunch while watching free roaming chickens. There are Emus, donkey and a cat who we didn't get to meet. What a vibe! The burger was tasty, although meat patty was a bit bland, underseasoned but overall great burger. The garlic parm fries were GARLICKY! A bit too oily for me but perfect for garlic lovers. For dessert we shared their warm 6 inch blackberry pie with soft serve on top. I've read amazing reviews about this pie but Too many seeds for me. The crust was delicious and thin how I like it. We went here on our way from Hoh rain forest to the Olympic national park . Lot of people were there but parking was easy . The parking lot is not concrete surface though but it wasn't a big deal for us . The staff is super friendly and greet you with their big smiley faces. I saw lots of people were getting soft serve and the amount of ice cream in each cone was insane. We took fish and chips , house salads and chicken strips . All of them were super yummy and super fresh . Lots of dressing options available for salad as well . Another interesting thing I found was they have a small area in the back where they have some animals and birds like roosters, ostriches and goats and they encourage people to go and check the area out with kids . Granny's Cafe is a restaurant randomly located literally in the middle of nowhere, with no other businesses or buildings other than the inn that it's attached to, within eyesight. The interior is very homely, filled with knick knacks with fiddle music playing in the background. The restaurant interestingly is counter service, so it's pretty casual. The best part of the cafe are the animals in the backyard. Two friendly emus, two goats, and an entire flock of hens. There's also supposed to be a barn cat, but we weren't able to find it, probably due to the fact that it was raining. Garlic Parm Fries ($9) - These seem like commercially purchased thicker fries, fried until steaming hot, with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. They are drizzled with a thick dressing-like garlic sauce, rich with garlic flavor. The sauce is served cold, so it's a bit of a surprise when biting in at first. There's also cold parmesan shreds sprinkled on top. Unfortunately, the fries aren't warm enough to melt or even soften the cheese. Still, there's a good ratio of topping to fries, and it certainly tastes good. I just wish the garlic sauce was warmed up before being added. (4/5) Blackberry Pie ($8.5) - They had two choices for the their famous 6 inch pies - either apple or blackberry. We went with the blackberry, which is served room temperature, rather than warm. There's some nice crunchy granola bits baked into the top of the pie. The filling has a lot of whole blackberries, complete with seeds. It's sweet and not too watery, with great blackberry flavor and a pleasing level of tartness. The crust is the weakest part of the pie. It's not flaky or crisp, and instead of kind of like clay in texture, doughy, and drier than it should be. It doesn't feel fatty or buttery at all. Perhaps shortening is used as the fat base? It really reminds me of a premade frozen pie crust - functional, but not very high quality. (4/5) Granny's Cafe is definitely a fun place to visit, especially because of all the animals running around. It's just a nice stop before or after a hike in the Olympics. Cute cafe near lake Crescent. Stays open till 8, so this was a perfect spot for us to grab dinner before heading back to our VRBO. I had the tuna melt with clam chowder as my side. The tuna melt had a lot of onions in it. If you don't like onions, don't get this or see if they can make it without. The clam chowder was delicious and hit the spot. I had to get a side served vanilla ice cream for dessert. It tasted like heaven. While waiting for my food, I went to visit the resident emu, goats and chickens. They are in the back by the bathrooms. They are friendly. The restaurant dining area had fireplaces going, which made it nice and cozy since it was chilly outside. They have parking on site.
