As soon as I walked in, I felt very comfortable. The aroma of the food was just warming and delicious. The whole vibe. The energy there was just made you feel comfortable like you're getting a mill straight out in the kitchen. When they handed you the Food, they reassured you know if they got their order correct you know they wanted to make sure I got everything. They didn't let me leave until everything. Make sure they got it correct I like that. Usually I have to check, but they just made it sure that they double checked for me and make sure I had every condiment. I had even offered me extra time. Everything was good. Know they hurt very they made you feel very welcome making you not want to leave. Made me wanna stay there and eat, but I had ordered to take it home. So if I could next time I'm gonna try to stay there and eat.

Been here for years a great place for home style food .

This is a great place, where the food is always good . When ever you are in the area it is a must. Service is excellent they are friendly. Support a Mom and Pop gem of La Mesa. Definitely want to go back and get a chicken pot pie as that is one of there staples. I shared the French toast platter with the wife son got the NY steak and eggs. We also shared the biscuits and gravy as that is a must. Perfect Everytime.

Service was quick and food wasn't bad! I enjoyed my side of sausage. The restaurant got full pretty quickly at 9am. It's not loud in there but I could easily hear convos from other tables. There is indoor and outdoor seating. You eat and then go to the counter to pay. Another nice family friendly breakfast place.

Went here for breakfast with my boyfriend. The restaurant is pretty small, very much old school diner vibes, but staff were all very friendly and attentive. I got eggs Benedict and boyfriend got typical pancake combo. Overall it was all very standard, exactly as I would expect. Eggs Benedict was good, bacon was crispy, pancakes tasted very old fashioned. Total plus tip came out to around $52 for two of us, which I see as kinda pricey for diner style, but with inflation these days who knows.

I have Driven past this place a million times and never tried it until recently, I finally came in for breakfast. There's something on the menu for everyone and it's all flavorful! Friendly staff, clean restaurant, good food. Will definitely be back soon!

I very rarely ever order Mexican food for breakfast but when I saw what the refried beans looked like on Yelp, I knew I had to try it. Also, I can tell the flour tortillas are homemade. I ordered the Machaca with a flour tortilla. YUM YUM! I LOVED IT! Everything was delicious and the service was awesome. I hope to come back here sometime again.

I stumbled upon this Hidden gem! Simple, fresh traditional home cooked breakfast spot. What I enjoyed equally than the food is the service. You just don't get good service anymore but this place does a great job. I'll definitely be back. Ps. Yes, I like ketchup in my eggs:)

A youth baseball team from Casa de Oro Little League ("The Party Animals") appeared to be having a team celebration here, and the situation was completely out of control. There were roughly 30 children, ranging from about 5-11 years old, running throughout the arcade and bar area. Kids were climbing on virtually every game, including the pinball machines, basketball games, skee-ball, baseball games, beer pong tables, and Dance Dance Revolution. They were screaming at the top of their lungs, throwing coasters around, hitting people, and even knocking over drinks at nearby tables. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of supervision. Many parents were outside while the kids ran wild inside, and the few adults who were present did not seem interested in correcting the behavior or intervening at all. I understand that servers and bartenders are not babysitters, and I don't expect them to parent other people's children. However, at some point management should have stepped in. This wasn't normal kid behavior or a little extra noise--it was genuine chaos that was impacting other paying customers trying to enjoy their evening. We've always liked The Hills and have spent a lot of money here over the years, which is why it's so frustrating to write this review. Tonight was easily the worst experience we've ever had here. If management is going to allow large youth sports parties in the future, there needs to be some expectation of supervision and basic respect for other guests. Unfortunately, after tonight, we're seriously reconsidering whether we'll be coming back.

The restaurant is cute and not too noisy. There is an indoor and outdoor area. SERVICE: We have never had a bad service experience at Toasted. Our waitress today in particular was great. My niece wanted a mimosa without alcohol, and she happily accommodated and even suggested adding some soda water to make it more like a mimosa. FOOD & DRINKS: In the many times we have been there, we have had the following; DRINKS: -Mimosa Flight: Too be honest, I did not love the flight. The Prickly Pear was my favorite, but I tend to prefer sweeter drinks, and I would say overall, the cocktails are not super sweet there, which for many people is a plus (just not me). -Lavender Cocktail - Good but also not super sweet -Chai Latte - I have had it hot and iced and liked it both ways FOOD: -Santa Fe Scramble - My favorite dish I have tried to date. Our waitress compared it to tortilla soup in an egg dish, and I would say that's a new perfect description except I think this is way better than tortilla soup -Denver Scramble - Very good and would order again -Breakfast Sammy - Good. A typical breakfast sandwich, so if that's what you're in the mood for, get this. That being said, I wouldn't say there is anything that sets this breakfast sandwich apart from others. -Stuffed French Toast - Good but not my favorite. Would not order again. -Fried Chicken Benny - Good but not a standout that I would order again -Breakfast Quesadilla - Just okay. Nothing was wrong with it, but I would not get it again and would do the Santa Fe Scramble over this. -Sliders - My favorite lunch item. They are the same as the old Sammy's sliders (this location used to be a Sammy's) -Red Velvet Pancakes - Good but very rich -Chocolate Chip Pancakes - Great and very fluffy with excellent texture Overall, even though not every food item or drink is a hit for me personally, that's the case at pretty much any restaurant, and there are some great items and the food, service, and ambiance are great

I think it would've been better with hot honey and syrup on the side? - Again these pancakes are THICK and flavor was "meh" so you prolly won't even finish them all and you might need to ask for extra syrup (like myself) I honestly think the chicken and French toast would've been a better option and I might ask for that accommodation next time if I order the same thing (I prolly won't, I like to try new tings hehe). Overall pretty restaurant with great natural Lighting but it still needs to prove itself in the flavor department.

I got the panela a la plancha, super excited to try this grilled cheese in a salad. First, my food came out significantly later than my group. The waiter even made a comment and had to go back and check in. Second, when I got it there was no cheese to be seen. It was pretty much a ton of arugula and a small amt of toppings. So we got back a second time and sit down to order, "Chicken and waffles please" - they are out of chicken. Oof! Strike 1. That sucks. She was disappointed but she got something else and we shrugged it off. Then about 2 weeks back we came in again... this time I asked first, "Do you have chicken for the chicken and waffles?" They are out of waffles. Oof! Strike 2! And isn't it just batter? I don't get it. We didn't stay that time because my daughter was visibly sad this time. So I think we are done trying or else this just becomes a running gag we try to get out of, like Groundhogs Day or something... Atmosphere: It's cozy inside. I love all of the details, like the wood carvings and all of the bear stuff. It's like you're in a log cabin. And I like that they have paper menus and throw them away (because plastic reusable menus are germ magnets). The newspaper-esque theme is pretty cool too. Price: It's no more expensive than say, Dennys or Ihop. Middle of the road and they have lots of options. A decent meal for two - 50$. Service: Each time we have been, the servers have been great. Nice servers and even when the guy had to tell us they were out of chicken, he was super apologetic. No complaints on the service. Overall: It's a nice place... when they have the advertised food. So I honestly don't know if we will be back or not. Maybe we will give it a shot but I don't want my daughter to be disappointed again. I get it, if it was something they only made 50 of a day, I'd understand. But... chicken and waffles? Hmmm...
